Movement 23
"Ugh, why's he taking so long?" Lawless' high pitched voice whined. Kuro had to cover his ears at the loud screeching of his little brother. He clicked his tongue and sighed. "Your complaining is becoming a pain, just be more patient will you?" He said and sprawled on the floor. Meanwhile Lawless huffed, but still shut his mouth. He couldn't help this undying worry for his Eve being gone for so long. Being separated this long caused him a new anxiety he hasn't felt. Also he didn't want to deal with another kidnapping incident. When the sound of the door clicking, he perked up.
"Oh? Licht-tan, you sure took a while.~" He teased, but then paused as he noticed the disgruntled look on his face. He blinked, he expected to be greeted with his scowl and an insult or two. But Licht just walked right past them heading into an empty room. Just a shadow covering his face. It even caught Kuro's attention as he got used to the two bickering. Lawless could feel something wrong, and it bothered him for some reason. He crossed his arms and went to think.
"Well that was strange." He mumbled. Lead by curiosity he quietly crept up to the room. He peered in finding Licht with a pensive look on his face. He raised a brow, now this wasn't something he saw with the regular Licht.
"You know you're being out of character." He said surprising Licht from his thoughts. Licht only shot a harsh glare, but that didn't even phase him. Lawless decided it was time to pry.
Licht turned away, "Shut up. I don't want to deal with your shit right now." He said.
"Did something happen with (Y/n)-chan?" He asked. The question making Licht's jaw clench and his fists curl up. He had the urge to kick him for prying. But Lawless didn't mind that. "You heard what I said. Just leave me alone." Licht spat out, now losing his temper. Lawless stood still before shrugging, "Suit yourself. I'm gonna go bother big brother then.~" He said. His words were improvised however, as he didn't show how he wanted to actually stay and help. But Lawless figured Licht needed to solve it on his own, Love can be difficult to deal with after all.
Meanwhile Licht sighed once his Servamp left. His fingers went to rub his temples, feeling overwhelming stress with everything up to this point. He left her with his chest feeling heavy, and a lot to think about.
--------------------------------------
It took a while before Licht's mind could start working again. Everything she told him seemed so surreal, and yet so logical. Why else would she be trapped in this place all those weeks. He just sat while he watched the girl cry in anguish. He needed to say something, anything, but his voice got caught in his throat. He reached out to her but stopped, let his hand hover and his mind wander. What was he supposed to say or do?
"I'm sorry. But I don't want you to suffer too. I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid I'll leave you behind to deal with the pain." She said drying her eyes. He opened his mouth to try and say something but the shaking of her head gave him a sign. She wanted to let out what she's been holding for a while.
"It's stupid thinking this way, because you have people who support you. But still this fear stays with me." She continued clutching at her chest. He didn't realize she had been feeling this lack of self confidence. The girl who had been eager to take a lot of risks was just one of the sides he saw to her. Now he has seen another, and he didn't even know what to say. She stood up, breathing out deeply after a long while of sobs. She looked more fragile in Licht's eyes, and it managed to feel like an anchor in his chest. He stared curiously as she started to rummage through her bag.
"Can I see your hand for a minute?" She asked. He started to wonder what she wanted to do, but he silently held out his hand. Suddenly he felt a cool metal on his skin, gazing down he saw an angel charm in his hand. His eyes widened slightly as he gazed at it, eventually turning his gaze to her. She held a smile on her face, but he can feel more than just something positive. She let her hand take his, letting her form relax into his chest.
"I wanted to give you it for a long time. Remember when I told you about the charm. And it's pretty accurate right?" She said giggling slightly.
"(Y/n), what do you feel?" He asked. He felt conflicted, and confused. Everything just seemed so confusing.
"I don't know." She said pushing away. "We can't live like a couple if I'm not confident right?" She asked. "Licht-san, can you give me time? I want to think it over. My feelings for you." She explained. He nodded wordlessly, but he let his arms hang at his sides. Maybe he needed time to, to finally consider the variables. And that's the way they parted, with hesitance and new things to consider.
-----------------------------------------
"(Y/n)," He mumbled her name while his thumb grazed the charm he held in his hand. He let out a little scoff, "Idiot. You know my feelings won't change I'm confident, but I'll give you time." He said the words he wanted to say at the time. And he sighed out as he stood with another destination in mind. He stuffed his hands in his pockets with his mind focused. Once again he passed by the other guys without a word.
"I wonder what's up with him?" Kuro asked, although his gaze remained on his game.
"Yes I wonder?~" Lawless repeated a sudden grin appearing on his face. Kuro could only sigh, not wanting to deal with his brother's stupid antics. Lawless stood up, and went through the open door.
"Be right back~" He called melodiously.
------------------------------------------
Lawless hummed as he stood before a door, and knocked on it. Hearing a familiar loud bark he got shivers creeping down his spine. He really didn't get on good terms with that dog.
"Eh? Hyde-san?!" (Y/n) exclaimed in shock, not expecting him to be standing at her doorway. He leaned against the door giving a smug grin.
"Hello there (Y/n)-chan." He said in smooth tone.
"Um, why are you here?" She asked. Lawless observed the puffiness of her eyes, and her tired expression. His expression softened, and he spoke in an uncharacteristically sympathetic voice.
"Can we talk?" He asked. (Y/n) blinked but let him in anyway, her dog then eyeing him with suspicion. He froze once his red eyes locked with black beady ones. (Y/n) laughed as she watched the stare down. She went up to her dog to lightly pet behind his ear, so he relaxed on her lap. Lawless himself sat down fiddling with his fingers.
"What did you want to talk about?" She asked.
"Well, I'm just wondering why Angel-chan's all upset. He didn't even kick me once, which is weird." He said, (Y/n) sweat dropping at the tone of his sentence. Her expression turned melancholic as she averted her gaze. "Did he tell you?"
"No, but I was wondering if you could. Did you reject him?" He asked.
"I didn't take you to be so concerned." She then commented while he shrugged.
"Eh, he and I are kind of close now. Emphasis on kind of, he just seemed so...distressed. Maybe it's the Servamps instincts to help his Eve." He said. (Y/n) felt a smile creep on her face seeing how he seemed so concerned.
"And well this is the first time Licht-tan has found himself a love life and it seemed interesting to watch." He added not sounding caring whatsoever.
"Do you think it's a soap opera?" (Y/n) commented once again sweat dropping.
"So I wanted to ask, what happened?" He asked. (Y/n) shrunk trying to escape Lawless' eyes staring her down. She sighed, seeing no escape from the vampires curiosity. She went on to explain everything, letting some stress alleviate from her chest. It felt nice to talk with someone about it, other than Licht. Lawless hummed and nodded at every word.
"Well~ Usually I wouldn't care about humans feelings. But this," He put a hand on his chest, "Hits close to home."
"The course of true love never did run smooth."* He put in a dramatic poise into his words, emphasizing everything. (Y/n) sat watching with a blank face.
"(Y/n)-chan, let me tell you something." He then said.
"Why am I suddenly afraid?" She mumbled. She then took in a surprising change in Lawless expression. He turned serious, staring straight into her (e/c) eyes. "Your mind and your heart are telling you differently right? You want to love but you're afraid." He said. She felt taken aback from this seriousness coming from him.
"Let tell you, even if you're afraid. The moments you spend with your loved one are the best moments of your life. You'll feel like you're on top of the world. And you're both humans, it'll be easier to communicate your feelings to each. I feel like I can tell you my secret now." He said closing his eyes. "(Y/n)-chan, did you know I fell in love with a human?" He asked. She sprung up, now her attention had been caught. A human and vampire fell in love? She gazed at the pained face in front of her suddenly feeling a pang in her chest.
"It was a love that would never, but I still fell hard. But unfortunately fate had other plans, and like that I had her taken away from me. I miss her everyday, and I condemned humans for taking her away. But then I got some sense knocked into me by Licht-tan. He changed me. And I've had time to think, those times I spent with her are moments I don't regret. So it's up to you, but I suggest just giving him a chance." He finished his explanation finally pulling away this mask he had put on for so long. It felt refreshing really. And (Y/n) had started getting ready eyed again, feeling his words push into her brain to combat her own thoughts. She felt a knot in her throat, it hurt to swallow. But she allowed a smile to appear on her face.
"Thank you Hyde-san, you gave me something else to think about." She said, feeling greatful. Lawless winked with a grin.
"Of course! I'm your guys' Cupid after all~" He said. But then fake tears appeared in his eyes, letting out a little mumble "But now I'll definitely turn into a minor character and third wheel."
"What was that?"
"Nothing (Y/n)-chan! Well I should be heading out!"
"Nothing~ well I should head now!" He said already waving by the door. She waved back, "Ok. Thank you Hyde-san really." She said shooting a smile. A very bright one, he paused for a moment before escaping through the door, and leaving (Y/n) blinking. Behind the door he held a hand to his chest, "Her smile is so powerful. Licht-tan's lucky to land someone so nice." He said straining through his words. He finally had ran down the hall to escape back to Mahiru's apartment.
(Y/n) had retreated back to her room, laying down silently. "What do I want?" She whispered. She knew the answer but she still had to ask. She needed to be really sure, and combat this illogical fear in her. He was always so confident, sure in what he wanted. He sounded so genuine with her, it really wasn't fair for her to dismiss him. She rubbed her face and closed her eyes, surely she could faintly see Licht at the end of the darkness. With a few moments she began typing away at her phone sending a text to Mahiru.
Mahiru-san, if Licht's there can you tell him I need to see him?
She set her phone down, before curling on top her bed. A lot of emotional stress weighed on her and she finally fell asleep.
------------------------------------------
Licht had walked throughout the streets of the city, at night. Having the need to clear his head he went all the way back to an empty hall. He managed to get the place to himself, sitting himself down in the seat before the grand piano. Letting his fingers hover over the keys, he took a moment, to just let his stress clear. He became lighter finally letting his fingers press various keys inventing a melody. With dissatisfaction he paused, his lips becoming a thin line. Finally he had a thought and started experimenting with notes.
----------------------------------------
It had been a few hours before Mahiru had checked his phone, rooming with a few other people, who had also stayed at his home for more than a few hours; really started to weigh in on his cleaning. "Ugh, I'm too tired to even yell at Kuro to keep this place clean for once." He said sagging on his couch. He finally saw the text from (Y/n) raising a brow.
Uh, sure (Y/n)-chan.
Then he wondered, where did Licht go? And what happened when he went to meet her? He seemed to be in the dark, and it strengthened his curiosity. His head turned when he saw Licht enter through the doorway.
"Oh hey there Licht-san. Where were you?"
"Out." Mahiru could never get used to Licht's blunt tone. So he cleared his throat awkwardly, "Right. By the way, (Y/n)-chan texted. She says she wants to see you." He explained and Licht froze before he could walk away.
"Now?"
"Well she didn't say. It's been a few hours since she sent the text, I guess she fell asleep." Mahiru surmised and then turned to him, "Did something happen?"
"Nothing. Just let her rest." Licht said abruptly ending all conversation. He felt tired himself, everything started weighing on him. He just wanted some rest, to not feel the heaviness in his heart for a moment. "I'm going to stay over at your place." He said then walking to a stray room. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm down his mind again. Already he missed playing his beloved instrument, but he needed sleep. The next day would be left in anticipation.
