Movement 16
"I just need you to stay by me."
The words repeated over and over in (Y/n)'s head even the next day after the concert. She could feel her whole self just blush from the words. She sat on her bed, once again hearing the words like they were fresh from his lips. She buried her face in the pillow she was holding, tiny muffled whines could be heard. She felt dizzy, but overwhelmingly happy. Her whole frame of mind buzzed with just those words. She sighed before lifting her red face. The tiny tattered sound of feet skimming across the floor came into the room as her dog jumped on her bed, as if sensing her distress. He barked laying down and staring at her through his beady eyes as his tail wagged. (Y/n) couldn't help but smile as she pet through his fur, he moved himself to her lap as she continued.
"Ah, (dog's name) you're always there for me when I'm feeling confused like this aren't you?" She asked chuckling slightly.
"I wish I could talk it out with you, even if I did. Even you could tell...that.." She trailed off not wanting to finish her sentence. Her feelings spoke loud and clear for her just through her red face. She glanced down absentmindedly running her fingers through her dogs fur to calm herself. She didn't think, her feelings for Licht would come this far. But she's here while slowly falling in love with him. The feelings were there no matter what she thought, or how much she tried to push them down.
"It just keeps growing. It shouldn't be growing." She mumbled. She wanted to stop thinking as it caused a horrible stress on her brain. Thankfully her cellphone buzzed once again, distracting her. The distraction made her stress fade and she brightened upon seeing the contact.
"Krantz-san, hello again." She greeted.
"Bonjour." He said, his voice sounded distressed, and it made (Y/n) perk up.
"Ah, what's wrong Krantz-san?" She asked.
"(Y/n)-chan, I meant to call someone else.." She heard him mumble faintly, she could only make out faint words.
"(Y/n)-chan, I have a question. Have you seen Lawless?" Krantz asked. (Y/n) paused to rerun his question to herself. Lawless? Lawless was missing? Her heart started beating as a feeling of nervousness and worry started taking over her.
"I have not Krantz-san." She heard him sigh softly on the end at her reply.
"That's too bad. Licht has been on edge since yesterday because Lawless never returned. He kept saying about something wrong with his body. It's vexing." Krantz stated, the statement making (Y/n)'s eyes widen slightly . (Y/n) could only grow more worked up at the sentence. Her heart beat erratically and the worry grew until she became full on anxious. She started breathing heavily, ordering her body to calm down.
"Where is he now?" She asked, her voice becoming shaky.
"Eh? I think he went to go search for him." Krantz said.
"Ok, thank you for telling me Krantz-san." She said before abruptly hanging up. Her hand clenched at the area near her chest. Her breathing slow and deep to keep up with her quickened heart beat. A couple of moments passed before she swallowed and stood up. Her dog immediately jumping up as well as she grabbed her coat and ran to the door.
"Please stay here (dogs name). I'll be back." She said petting him one last time. He gave a loud bark as if protesting, but she ignored it. She kept a determined facade as she went out of her apartment with the goal to find the pianist in mind.
---------------------------------------------
"Tch, my body feels heavy." Licht groaned out leaning against the wall. His form slumped over, and he had a dull aching in his chest that just kept increasing. He felt he was drowning, something weighing on his body slowing him down. But that didn't stop him from going outside anyway.
"Is this what that shit rat mentioned about? Damn it, I'm an angel, something like this won't bring me down." He muttered slamming his fist on the wall adjacent to him. Even if he said that, his body told him otherwise. He moved sluggishly, even leaning against the wall for support. He had willed himself to move this far, and was close to collapsing.
"Well you can't help it, he's quite a distance away from you. Um, so I'm assuming you're Licht, something or other." Licht froze at the voice he heard right next to his ear. His eyes glanced back catching glimpse of a male. He felt dread creep upon him as he swiftly jumped back, but he felt a sharp pain on his forehead. He felt liquid dropping from his forehead, a viscous streak of blood flooded from the wound.
"Wow. You can move pretty fast too fast for an old man like myself." The old male commented.
"I got injured?" His voice whispered, sounding shocked. His jaw clenched, and his eyes glinted in a hard glare.
"Who the hell are you?" He growled.
The male could only shrug, his whole demeanor seemed nonchalant.
"This old man isn't enthusiastic about it either, but thanks to your little pet, Tsubaki-sama is pretty angry. So there is no helping but, this old man needs to punish you now."
"The little pianist is about to lose his wings." His voice turned menacing as he grinned, the cigarette hanging lazily between his teeth. Licht stood straight on his feet, even despite the weakness in his body.
---------------------------------
(Y/n) got pretty tired of running quickly, but she didn't quit running. Her body fatigued, but she strained herself to continue. Her mind raced as she went into the decision to find Licht fast. She bent down, clutching the fabric of the clothes on her knees in frustration. She assumed he was wandering the city in search of Lawless, because she knew from what he told her, that was about to face some serious consequences. And that just worried her extensively. After a minute she continued her search, sprinting through the streets. Her heart pounded roughly, so much that even she could feel the blood rushing through her ears. Beyond that she was anxious, extremely anxious.
After searching a couple of more streets she felt the frustration build up, so much that her eyes watered, her throat burned, dizziness overcame her. She ran through one more block, her ears picked up the tiniest sound of a fight. She paused for a moment before taking a sharp turn, just a few feet down she stopped. Her chest heaved up and down, and she felt ready to black out, but she saw him. She found him. But her eyes cleared up from the blurry vision of her fatigue, and she clearly saw she was injured. And then her eyes glanced over to the old, red haired male, he seemed really relaxed. But she could feel shivers over take her as she saw the scene.
Her mind raced again, once she saw his injured state. Her breathing increased in rate, her overwrought feelings skyrocketed. She felt the need to call out to him, to just do something for him to stop getting injured. She stopped in place, clenching her fingers as her body couldn't stop shaking. It's been a while since she has felt this helpless. She watched with wide eyes, as the mysterious male spoke. Although she couldn't seem to hear him, her mind still seemed shocked that she felt frozen. She seemed too shocked as the next scene she registered was the male slicing Licht's arm. He ripped the skin and the wound caught on fire, it went too fast. And it looked so unreal to her.
One look at his face contorting into pain, and she almost called out to him. Although it came out in a tiny squeak, she couldn't even form words. Unconsciously, her arm lifted reaching out to him slowly. She wanted to, needed to reach him, at least do something.
"Kids these days have such short tempers." Her brain finally started to register things as she forced herself to snap out of it with two slaps on her cheeks.
"Licht-kun, you can't beat this old man on your own. In order to survive Light needs the darkness." The old stated something quite philosophical.
"What?"
"What I mean is, your little Servamp is in the same situation. He's crushed under Tsubaki, just like you will be."
"Who the hell are you?"
"Me? Old man Higan." The male said sounding very sinister.
(Y/n)'s body shook even more, out of fear. But it wasn't dying or the mysterious male she was afraid of. She grit her teeth, occasionally, as she waited. She didn't want to run head first into danger, but her adrenaline was telling her to move her legs. And they did, they moved ever so slow as she tried to sneak up.
"Ah." Before she could do anything else, she was stopped in her tracks as Higan's eyes slowly landed on her. She didn't even make any noise and he still noticed her.
"An uninvited guest?" He murmured. (Y/n) stood her ground, even if she was trembling violently. Because she knew, she faced worse situations.
Licht automatically got a dreaded feeling, the sudden change causing him to freeze. He didn't even want to confirm, but his instincts worked against him. The dreaded feeling only grew worse, when he saw the one person he didn't want to at the moment. At first he was angry, but the anger got fueled by undying fear and worry.
"(Y/n)?" His voice started out soft but it quickly rose.
"Get out of here! I don't need you here!" The words came out wrong, but he would say and do anything to just get her away from the danger. Most of his body acted impulsively.
"Licht-san...Remember what I told you? I'm your support, so you can't get rid of me that easily." Her voice started off shaky, but grew sincere. Even if she did try to act jolly, she was totally serious. Her posture became straight, both of them were anxious, probably for the same reason. So if she relaxed, show that she was ok she could demonstrate her support.
"Ah, is this old man getting ignored? Maybe getting him distracted could be make easier to capture?" He mumbled staying out of the confrontation, he acted smart, waiting for the right moment.
"The light has even more light. Seems ironic." He said biting down on cigarette. Before anyone could say anything he already flashed behind (Y/n). She was frozen momentarily not even expecting the move. Licht momentarily disoriented, got a grasp on the situation and his heart started pounding.
"Perhaps taking out this light will bring you to your knees." The statement caused an overwhelming sense within him. He felt weak, but he moved his body fast. Thanks to his lead he moved just in time. His leg extended in a harsh kick, bearing his teeth animal like. But the male dodged in time. Licht knew he couldn't maneuver his body quickly considering his heavy injuries, and downgrading fatigue. But if he could prevent (Y/n) from getting hurt he would willingly strain his body.
Meanwhile (Y/n) was impressed at how fast he moved, he was there before she could blink. Her breath hitched in her throat as she got an up close view of his injuries. They seemed even more severe at the proximity. The sight of the old man was blocked by Licht's back as he stood in front of her.
"Who said I needed that shit rat? I can kick your ass without him, and imagine myself winning against you." Licht spoke confidently, even if he sounded strained.
"I don't care about him, but you lay one finger on her, and I'll banish you to a place worse than hell itself." Licht's voice spat out venom, and his tone turned dark. His eyes boring across from him as he stared down the male with his glinting blue grey eyes. (Y/n) even shivered from his tone, but hidden under all of the dark was the concern she knew he had for her. And that made her heart beat and her cheeks burn. The male only smirked amused, not even phased by the monstrous glare he was staring into.
"Such strong eyes, but even so you must fall eventually. So before that Shall We Dance?" Higan's hands lit up in flames, that danced around the area lighting it ablaze.
(Y/n) couldn't even register anything before she felt herself being grabbed and hoisted away by Licht. Although he moved more sluggishly as trying to move both himself and (Y/n) in his current state proved to be difficult. A huge pillar erupted in the middle blasting them both back onto the hard ground. (Y/n) felt disoriented, but she laid and watched Licht get grabbed by the collar of his jacket. (Y/n) once again felt the adrenaline surge, her mind rushing to a rash decision.
"Hey! You get away from him!" She heard a familiar voice before she even stood up.
"Mahiru-san?" She mumbled questioningly. He only stared at her for a few seconds before his eyes turned serious.
"Let's go Kuro!" The chains bounded them together appeared as Kuro reluctantly stepped out taking a stance. Only to be stopped, a pained look on his face. A sudden black ooze covered his body, seemingly drowning him. Everyone looked upon in shock as it formed around him in a tiny sphere. It hit the ground, leaving no trace of Kuro.
"K-Kuro..what is this?" Mahiru said horrified. He just stared at the object with a quivering gaze, no words expressed at all. He became too distracted at the sudden turn of events. But (Y/n) caught sight of Higan, her mind raced once more and this time no hesitation.
"That's enough!" She exclaimed trying to block him getting in front of Mahiru.
"Ah, honestly this is taking too long. This old man usually refrains from hurting women, so forgive me." He said. Before (Y/n) knew it she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. A raging fire of pain from her nerves seething. Was it a punch or kick? She didn't know, all she knew was that she felt herself flying and unbelievable pain. Probably for someone else they could bear it, but she couldn't. Because of her condition.
"(L-L/n)-chan?!" Mahiru was the first to call her since he was right behind. But he perhaps was lying a few feet away because she could barely register his voice. Her arms only clutched the entire area of her lower torso and stomach. She tried moving, but it was difficult, it even hurt to breath. Her breath giving out the tiniest of gasps. Her body twitched as she wanted to move, but she couldn't, it was unbearable.
Higan had run out of patience, but caught sight of a very enraged Licht.
"Your fight is with me. I warned you." He growled, however he stumbled at his footing as his body reached its limit. But he'd be damned if he couldn't at least protect them, especially her. But the stinging in his arm became numbing, he could feel less of his body as the time went on.
Higan could only smile amused, "But what can you do with that arm of yours. You can barely feel it right? Besides why protect them when-"
"Shut up! The reason? It's simple,"
Licht's arm laid limp by his side, his hand gripped the wound painfully. But he stood tall, because of one, or rather..two reasons.
"I'm a pianist, and for that I need an audience I don't need to lift my arm to play." He said, a smirk finding its way onto his face. Before him appeared his piano one again, big enough for him to step on. Both Mahiru and (Y/n) looked in awe. Although it was hard for (Y/n) to keep herself conscious. The regulatory pathways in her body were screaming and just from the blow she was ready to knock out. Despite that she forced herself to stay awake.
From the piano to another eruption of flames seen through her hazy vision, the battle had ended. Through the slits of her eyelids she could see Licht lying on the ground. He lost, he lost. Internally (Y/n) panicked, she inched her upper body off the ground slowly. But to no avail she had no strength. Her fingers clenched into fists and she felt like bawling, but once again even the slightest breath invited pain. How helpless. Like all of those times in the past she felt helpless. She could only watch him get taken away, and Mahiru try desperately. Right before she lost herself in a dark, empty space of her consciousness.
A/N: Enjoy this last thing before I delve into studying hell. I decided to finish this last one just because.
