Movement 15

(Y/n) hummed quietly to herself as she stepped through the door of the concert hall. She clutched the charm in her hand nervously. Hopefully she was on time, if not she can always wait backstage for him. She had gathered all of her confidence, to finally say something to him about...her feelings. She figured why not take a risk, besides it was best to just say what you needed to before time is wasted. As she walked down the hall her eyes caught the sight of a familiar person.

"Mahiru-san?" She whispered, she saw him hiding behind the corner of the wall. Like before he looked distressed, perhaps even antsy. (Y/n) huffed and jogged up to him, tugging at his sleeve. He jumped while a loud, short screech escaped him. He blinked once he saw (Y/n) looking at him with equal shock.

"(L-L/n)-chan?! What are you doing here?" He asked stunned.

"Visiting Licht-san, what about you?"

"Uh, the same reason actually. Uh..." He trailed off restlessly, his whole body shaking. His eyes glanced everywhere somehow seeking someplace to be, or rather someone to see. While Kuro just sat on top of his head, lazy as ever.

"Mahiru-san, Kuro-san is a Servamp right?" She asked nonchalant, the question made Mahiru freeze and gape his mouth as well as Kuro. A few seconds passed before Mahiru started freaking out.

"H-How do you know about-"

"Licht-san told me." (Y/n) cut him off calmly making the two males do a double take. She heard Mahiru mumble something while rubbing his temple in frustration. Then his eyes snapped open suddenly, and he faced (Y/n) with widened eyes.

"(L/n)-chan! You're close with Licht-san right?" Mahiru asked in a rush, she nodded but before she could get a word out he interrupted her again.

"Can you ask him a really big favor, actually no wait, do you know where he is?" His words were fast and came out shaky. (Y/n) grew concerned at how anxious he acted.

"Mahiru-san, calm down a minute. Tell me what's the matter." (Y/n) asked still maintaining her calm expression. Mahiru ran his hand through the tuft of his hair on his forehead. He attempted to at least take a deep breath, however before he could ask her again another familiar voice interrupted again.

"Hey you two what are you doing there?"

Mahiru jumped again, while (Y/n) turned around with a smile on her face.
"Krantz-san!" She greeted excitingly.

"(Y/n)-chan?" He called questioningly, but he still smiled seeing her familiar bright expression.
"What brings you here?" He asked. His eyes glanced towards Mahiru who was fidgeting in his place.

"Did you bring your friend to come see the concert? I'm afraid the whole audience is full of sponsors, it's sold out." He hummed thinking about something.

"Ah, actually we wanted to see Licht-san." She said waving her hand dismissively, Mahiru agreed nodding his head fiercely.

"Hmm..I think I can sneak you two in. Follow me." Krantz said amused, giving off a little chuckle. (Y/n) eagerly followed grinning to herself, the time was drawing closer.

"Ah, t-thank you." Mahiru stuttered trudging after them. He and (Y/n) walked side by side, until his eyes glanced upward at a large window. He saw a very familiar figure stepping through the upper halls. His expression turned grim, and it didn't go unnoticed by (Y/n)

"Mahiru-san?"

"E-Excuse me! Do you know where the concert venue is?" He asked Krantz once again turning anxious. Krantz directed him with his words the exact location he asked, and with that he took off in the opposite direction surprising both Krantz and (Y/n). (Y/n) grew concerned as she called his name, trying to make sense of why he was acting this way.

"Mahiru-san! Where are you going?!" She called out to him, only his faint call back was what she heard.

"I'm sorry (L/n)-chan, but you need to stay back!" He exclaimed making a sharp turn towards the basement of the hall. (Y/n) furrowed her brows, she confirmed there was a danger.
"What was that about?" Krantz asked, and then noticed the shaking shoulders of the girl in front of him.

"(Y/n)-chan?"

She should've figured it sooner considering how apprehensive Mahiru was. But now she started growing apprehensive, if Mahiru was this distressed then it could be something big. Something involving the Servamps, as well as Licht, and her heart stopped at the thought of...the consequences.

"Krantz-san, excuse me!" She exclaimed following the direction where Mahiru ran off, once again Krantz became surprised. She ignored his calls and just let her mind guide her feet. She was slower, and the extraneous physical activity was starting to weigh on her but she dare didn't stop. She wanted, no, needed to get to the concert hall... to Licht. Her breaths became heavy, and her vision fuzzy, the negative effects starting to show themselves but she pushed herself.

She finally reached the huge door, using the last of her strength to push it open. Only to gasp at the horrifying sight, her heart almost stopping. Piles of bodies, she didn't know whose or what exactly they were, she only focused on the fact that they were dead. Only the loud sounds of a fight brought her eyes to snap from the bodies to the confrontation between the males. She watched as Licht appeared kicking Lawless in the face as usual, except this is time it felt more menacing. He really aimed to kill this time. (Y/n) could only stare and shake in her place, not only her but Mahiru as well.

He had the potential to do something, but something held him back. He shook more that he looked ready to collapse on his knees. He brought out his broom, internally debating whether or not to get involved, until he saw Kuro.

However, in the blink of an eye Licht brought his piano out, "Cry." He said deep, quiet, and very threatening. The instrument produced a melodramatic tune, bringing forth sorrow within the room. An intense sorrow that affected everyone. Before (Y/n) could react she started seeing flashes of familiar scenes. Nothing but a white room, and pain. A lot of pain that made her chest feel heavy. She saw pictures of her parents, but not much. But the sight of her parents leaving, felt like several knives were piercing her heart all at once.

But the memories consisted a majority of the white room, but the white room is what caused her chest to constrict to the point of pain. Many images flashed, until she saw an exact copy of her younger self, blank eyes almost looking like they were mirroring her did she break down. Was it Licht's piano doing this? But why did such a beautiful instrument bring so much hurt and anguish? It hurt so much.

She could feel her tears building until the damn burst itself and they fell from her eyes and streamed down her cheeks. She fully broke down, and collapsed on her knees. She wanted to bury herself, the stress of so much negative images weighing down on her. She felt the need to run, but she willed herself to stay. She wiped her eyes, and raised her head automatically locking on Licht who was still focused on playing. Everyone else in the room sat in their own agony, suffering from past memories they wished they had forgotten.

"Ophelia...Dammit..." Lawless mumbled out loud slowly rising to his feet.

"This is the part of Licht-tan's piano, I can't forgive!" He lunged towards Licht sword at hand. Both of them ready to pick another huge fight. (Y/n) had enough, she wanted it to stop just for one moment. Her mouth opened, but produced no sound. She grit her teeth, clenched her fists and swallowed. Her mind was overwhelmingly stressed and her adrenaline kicked in, it caused bad consequences to her body but she didn't mind herself.

"S-S..Stop..."Her voice quiet, cracking, and incredibly shaky but she remained stubborn.

"ST-"

"GUIL STOP THEM!" Krantz cut in, slamming open the door and projecting his voice out loud catching the boys attention. Even before the two could clash again, they were stopped by a large whale suit. He grabbed them by their heads and knocked their heads together hard making them fall to the floor. Both of them shaking in momentary pain.

"Owww! Jeez that hurt!" Lawless groaned out in pain.

"What the hell Guil?!" He then exclaimed while Krantz, and the penguin named Guil high fived.
"Tres bien Guil!" Krantz praised.

"Wait what the-?!" (Y/n) exclaimed, Mahiru looked equally as shocked and confused. Everything seemed to tone down as Krantz started scolding Licht and Lawless harshly for their actions. (Y/n) sweat-dropped at the scene, even after something so intense it went back to normal pretty quickly. Her eyes scanned around and she saw Mahiru checking up on Kuro, who was behaving strangely quiet. She was about to ask, until she heard some whimpering right next to her, her head turned and she saw the trembling figure jump. Mahiru noticed it too, the figure looked like a little boy, who was shaking and crying uncontrollably.

He nearly shrieked when they both stared at him, merely just moving a centimeter.

"Um..." (Y/n) started not sure how to approach the boy. He looked ready to pass out if she even tried to reach out to him.

"Are you...ok?" Mahiru asked hesitantly, the boy only squeaked out an apology. It wasn't long before Lawless appeared again.

"Oh~?" He said in a drawl, his voice getting dangerously lower the longer he talked. (Y/n) turned around, she was positioned in front of the boy already, and got a view of Lawless' wicked grin.
"It seems like I missed one~" His swords was already at hand. He stopped when he saw (Y/n)'a quivering gaze meeting his.

He paused, "What's (Y/n)-chan doing here?" He asked aloud, a certain angel's ears heard the name and he perked up in alert. Even with (Y/n) in the way, Lawless had no intention of stopping.

"Stop Lawless!" Mahiru, however, intervened by grabbing Lawless on the wrist.

"Why are you stopping me? It's not like I'm going to listen."

"Look at him! He has no reason to kill us. He's not a threat!" Mahiru yelled trying to get Lawless to stop once and for all. He seemed to get through to him as the two had a quiet stare down, quiet and tense. (Y/n) had felt goosebumps appearing on her skin as she caught a slight glimpse of Lawless' glare. He only shrugged, finally giving up. (Y/n) had to release the breath she was holding from the confrontation, before turning to the boy to help him out.

"Whatever, it's not like I care about a minor character." Lawless said walking to the entrance. He turned and waved, acting like he did before.

"Byyyeee Angel-chan, I'm leaving first because I have some business to take care of~"

Licht could only give a scary glare, grabbing something and throwing it at him.
"Like I care! Go die!" He exclaimed.
-------------------------------------

(Y/n) blinked, but she breathed out a sigh as everything started to calm down. Her eyes still wet with tears, so she rubbed them with her sleeves. She sat on the floor for a minute as she tried to calm herself down. This was more than she could have imagined. Was this what was brought upon by the contract of the Servamps? Now (Y/n) knew how intense and dark it was, probably even more.

"(L/n)-chan?" She heard Mahiru's voice above her, and there he stood holding out his hand.
"Are you ok?" He asked hoisting her up carefully, she nodded silently.

"Is...everyone else ok?" She asked hesitantly.

"Seems so, it's a relief." Mahiru commented, although glanced at Kuro, he seemed unsure as he saw Kuro silently sit in a corner. (Y/n) noticed, and she couldn't help but feel bad. Even if she didn't know their history. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Licht in a corner glaring at the floor while Krantz was screaming his head off at him. It looked much like a parent scolding a child that (Y/n) couldn't help but giggle. Mahiru sweat dropped while also watching the scene.

"Is he raising a child?" He commented. Krantz sighed as he turned to the two of them giving a smile.

"I'm sorry, sometimes I just need to scold him when he's done something bad. You're another Eve correct?" He asked Mahiru who nodded in response.

Krantz handed him a card, "I am Krantz manager, Rozen Krantz. I'm just a human by the way." He said giving an an amusing chuckle. Just as he said that the whale suit popped up flapping its fins

"That's our mascot, inside is Lawless' subclass Guildenstern. This is also your first time meeting him isn't it (Y/n)-chan?" Krantz asked. She nodded excitingly as she shook the fin of the suit in awe. She gushed internally, the mascot looked adorable there was no denying. And the excitement of meeting a subclass made her smile widely at him.

"Nice to meet you Guil-san!" She exclaimed earning her a pat on the head. Meanwhile, Mahiru and Krantz were discussing the situation with Tsubaki's subclass as Licht was still sitting down with his frustrated expression. He hated it when Krantz scolded him, and yelled at him to be nicer to Lawless. He couldn't help but feel enraged by the thought, get along with a demon? The thought disgusted him, even after what happened to today. He glanced around, his eyes landing on (Y/n) interacting with Guil. A pang in his heart erupted, he remembered, how she got caught up in their antics. Maybe he should be scolded for that. It surprised even him, how guilty he felt. He tuned himself, to the conversation between Krantz and Mahiru.

"But if you're trying to defeat that dangerous vampire, then we should cooperate!" He heard Krantz exclaim, his eyes widened slightly. What?

"I mean it's likely Licht would be targeted too, it would be troublesome. I want him to focus on Piano more so he can spread it for all humanity." Krantz said, his eyes sparkled, even he was big fan of Licht's work. Licht could feel his chest constrict, he didn't like what Krantz was suggesting. Him? Work with these demons? He felt even more disgusted, and he tightened the grip he had on his suit.

"Hey Krantz, why are you deciding what I do? I don't feel like doing anything." Licht said bitterly, only to be ignored. He felt several veins pop on his forehead. He watched Mahiru show sympathy to the subclass, Licht didn't understand, or more like didn't want to. Why should an angel like himself do so? He was different. He didn't want to hear anymore as he stood up with the click of his tongue.

"Tch, you're no good. I'm leaving." He said irritated, catching the attention of everyone in the room.

"Ah, wait Licht-san, your lead are your boots right? I can't use mine at all, so I was wondering how you became that strong?" Mahiru asked, he subtly seemed a little desperate. Licht could only glare at him, he felt that someone like him, was a waste of his time. He caught the curious gaze of (Y/n) in the corner, and his glare hardened.

"It won't matter if I tell you. You're no good anyway." He commented before walking out and leaving them there. Mahiru was silent, mulling over what Licht said until his cellphone rang. All while that happened (Y/n) still stared at the way Licht walked out of. She felt conflicted, her overwhelming worry took over her. But at the same time she felt the need to stay, and not bother him. She felt the force of a soft pat on her shoulder, looking to see Krantz. He had a consoling smile at his face as he gestured towards the doorway.

"Don't worry, Guil and I have the mess here covered. And don't mind his temper." Krantz advised as he let her go. She nodded, giving a little grin as she took off after him. Her steps echoed through the halls and caught his retreating figure in her sights.

"Licht-san!" She called and he halted. He faced her with his stone faced glare, his mood still ruined. She heaved in a couple of breaths, before speaking.

"You left before I could give you something. But at least tell me...why are you so hard on Mahiru-san?" She asked both calm and curious, Licht could instinctively feel his hand clench in his pocket. Again he felt it, the rising jealousy in him.

"Because he lacks the drive to achieve what he wants. I can tell, he doesn't work hard enough, and doubts himself." Licht said.

"Which is why, I'm better working off alone, then with someone who slows himself down. And sympathizes with those demons." He said harshly, the volume in his voice rising. (Y/n) blinked, but then hummed closing her eyes.

"Hm, arguing with you would be pointless, but just..." She paused trying to find her words.
"Be careful, it's never good to fight all by yourself. Sometimes too many forces can knock even the strongest man down."

"But I'm an Angel, I can handle it-"

"Even angels, need help from their allies sometimes." (Y/n) cut him off twisting the strap of her bag, she seemed anxious. Licht didn't want to argue with her, he couldn't. Because she seemed to be speaking a subtle truth, that even he seemed to pick up on. And he started feeling the rising guilt in himself once more.

"Just remember...I'm your ally ok?" She said quietly giving reassurance to him. He furrowed his brows as he felt himself grow warm.

"Right." He answered quietly. She smiled gratefully, but she felt him take her hands in his. His thumb gently rubbing her knuckles, she grew warm as well, even a little nervous that he could feel the heat of her skin from the contact.

"(Y/n)..." His right hand went from her hand to her face and his thumb glided under her eye. They were still a bit swollen.
"It seems like my piano made you cry again. But for the wrong reason." She read his voice, she read the guilt. She blushed under the contact, but maintained a calm poise.

"Don't be guilty, no one's really to blame." She said, but Licht seemed to tighten his grip on her hand, and his eyes narrowed.

"That shit rat is, those demons..." He growled, but his menace softened slightly.

"(Y/n), you're my ally, but just watch yourself." He said, he wasn't good at expressing his concern. But it spoke loud and clear with his words. Licht expressed his protectiveness to her, and she understood. But she could only blush and nod, her mind flustered. His arms snaked around her and he leaned his head in, momentarily disorienting her as her heart pounded. Their faces in close proximity, their foreheads almost touching.

"I just need you to stay by me." He whispered those last words before letting her go. Facing away so he can hide the creeping pink. He walked away leaving her in the hall. She could feel her knees buckle, and she fell watching his figure retreat. She had to sit, and calm her heart, that was the most contact she had with him. She couldn't deny the leaping joy, but she couldn't help but also take his words as a warning. Something undeniably worrying lingered, and she could only sit there overwhelmed in silence.
