Movement 12

(Y/n) stood outside in the park, laughing out loud as she could feel the cold caress her skin. Her mouth breathing out the puffs of condensed air. The season began changing once more, the trees shed of the protection of their leaves, and the ground covered in a very thin sheet of dust from the frozen dew. Winter has arrived officially making its appearance. (Y/n) sighed as the cold air caused her nose and fingertips to become red. She wished she could at least see some snowfall.

"Huh?" A cold, soft tickling feeling on her nose and eyelashes, and she looked up seeing just what she hoped for. Tiny snowflakes falling from the grey clouds that covered the blue sky. They kept coming, causing each one to fall lightly on the ground as well as one (Y/n). Like with the rain, (Y/n) excited watched each flake fall to the ground. From time to time cupping her hands and watching each individual flake melt in her palm. Even if it was cold, she enjoyed every minute standing in the snowfall.

"(Y/n)." The deep voice familiar to her almost made her trip on her next step. She caught the sight of Licht's figure standing in front of her.

"L-Licht-san why are you here?" She asked surprised. He said nothing but stepped closer, probably a little too close. He gripped her arm with one hand getting closer, and her red face no longer felt the stinging cold but a great warmth. His eyes were half opened as he stared at her.

"Stupid, playing out in the cold." He mumbled his and her breath practically mixed together. She could feel her heart race a mile, it beating so fast that she couldn't even say anything. Licht's two finger lifted her chin, and angled her head. She predicted the next thing that would happen, but she didn't want to stop it.

"You're just begging to get sick.." His voice softened and stopped just before he pressed down his lips.

And then the dream ended...

A big force just jumped on top of (Y/n) making her scream in surprise and flail around in her bed. She felt the pressure of something sitting  on top on her, his beady eyes and happy expression directed towards her.

"(Dogs name)." She drawled out tiredly in a whine, he only barked at her. She rubbed her eyes getting them adjusted to the light, and felt her sheets.

"How did I end up in my bed?" She mumbled but then remembered the time she fell asleep, as well as being with Licht.

"Ahh! I fell asleep while we were lying down." She groaned. She felt really embarrassed, falling asleep when hanging out with a friend generally is really embarrassing. And she thought it to be kind of rude too. She ruffled her hair and buried her face in her hands. Only to sigh, bringing her feet over the edge and standing. She went to her living room, getting the attention of her dog by whistling at him.

"Are you hungry?" She asked petting his head, he tilted it. And then started to pad towards his bowl, (Y/n) followed only to be met with a little surprising sight. His bowl was already full, as well as the water bowl already replaced. Most of the stuff lying around the living room had been picked up too. (Y/n) felt suspicious, until her eyes caught a neatly folded paper on the counter. When her eyes settled upon the familiar script she knew it was Licht's doing. A small smile appeared on her face reading his words, he had carried her all the way from the park and even cared for her dog. Her face felt warm and she felt extremely happy. Until she came across something on the bottom.

P.S Did you know you drool a lot when you sleep? You practically soaked the shoulder of my hoodie when I got to your apartment.

Now (Y/n)'s face became red out of pure mortification. Did he really have to be blunt about it? And was it necessary to point it out in the first place?

She covered her face wanting to hide. Even if she was completely alone, the embarrassment held above anything else.
"Why did you have to say that?" She whined. Her stomach sounded loudly catching her attention, as if she weren't embarrassed enough.

"Now that I think about it, I haven't eaten in a while." She mused to herself, and she just shrugged. Then she grinned as she came up with the perfect idea. The time for her to go stock up at the store.
----------------------------------

She hummed as she began scouring the snack food sections. The reason being she just wanted ramen. She hummed to herself reading labels on everything she picked up, and she got what she needed. Then she suddenly felt some pressure on her foot, looking down she saw a small black cat. Who lazily just meowed as it rubbed it's head against her.

"Aww~" She cooed at the animal picking it up gently, the little bell around its neck sounding as she moved it.

"What's a little cat like you doing in a snack food section? Are you someone's pet?" She asked, the cat meowed at her only it sounded pretty deep. But she dismissed that as she giggled.

"You're so cute~" She used her finger to pet behind its ear, the cat seemed to like it as it purred.

"Hm..but it's a problem if you can't find your owner-"

Just as she said that she heard the high pitched shout of a male, "Kuro!" She turned her head in the direction of the shout seeing a brown haired male, and he seemed angry.

"I told you I'm not buying Ramen!" He stomped into the isle as he continued to shout, a vein popping on his forehead. The cat's bell tingled as he moved in your arms as if trying to hide. The boy caught upon the noise and then spotted the cat along with (Y/n).

"Aha! Oh?" His glare faded quickly when he saw (Y/n)'s curious staring at him. He became embarrassed and a little ashamed about shouting in public and just pointing at her wildly.

He rubbed the nape of his neck as he blushed slightly, "Sorry about that. It's just that my cat ran away from me again when I specifically told him to stay put." He couldn't help but glare again at his cat who just took a defensive position on (Y/n)'s shoulder and hid in his hair. They both had a stare off, the scene made (Y/n) laugh.

"You two remind me of another owner, pet pair that I met. Although less intense." She said through her giggles. The boy then raised an eyebrow.

"Really? Who?" He asked.

"Uh," (Y/n) caught herself in her laughs as she blushed slightly.
"A friend of mine. He owns a pet hedgehog, and they don't get along well. Which is ironic because he loves animals." She said. She was careful to not reveal too much, seeing as how much Licht wanted to keep the dark secret a secret.

"Huh that's weird." The boy said then went into a pensive state. He shared a glance with his cat, who also seemed to look really thoughtful. (Y/n) looked between the both of them, and when the boy saw he panicked.

"Uh, sorry again about my cat! He just roams free a little too often."

"That's fine. I don't mind, he's very cute." (Y/n) smiled at him as she took the cat from her shoulder and handed him to the boy. He shyly took his cat back and glanced to his down.

"Ah before you leave, what's your name?" (Y/n) then asked the boy who grinned at her.

"Shirota Mahiru, and this is Kuro." He pointed jovially to himself and then lifted his cat, who had the most bored expression, (Y/n) could only smile at the boys enthusiasm.

She gave a grin herself, "(L/n) (Y/n). Nice to meet you Shirota-san." She bowed at him politely and he returned it only more flustered.

"Y-You too (L/n)-chan." He stuttered, he could hear his cat lightly snicker and he could only glare at him. She disregarded the looks the two were giving each other as she dug into her bag for her her wallet. She remembered to double check her funds just before purchasing anything.
"Hm?" (Y/n) hummed checking her wallet as the two had a glare off, mostly one sided with Mahiru, and muttered to herself disappointed.

"Aw man, I don't have enough for the ramen." She said and sighed.

"And I was looking forward to not cooking for once today too." She whined and sighed once more herself giving a disappointed aura. Mahiru stood awkwardly as he peered over her shoulder to check the price.

"Um, I have enough." He spoke up. (Y/n) turned her head to him looking confused. He held up a yen bill grinning sheepishly.

"I have extra money on me just in case, I could pay."

"Eh?! Oh no, I could never let anyone else pay for me. I would feel too guilty." She said, she felt bad already but she saw him wave his hand dismissively.

"It's fine, like I said I have extra."

"Then at least let me pay you back."

"Eh? You do-"

"I won't take no for an answer." She said huffing, Mahiru backed off putting his hand up in surrender but then he just chuckled. The whole scene seemed so amusing.

"A-Alright."

The two went up to the counter, also chatting along the way. (Y/n) found quite a lot about Mahiru: 15, first year high school student, lives with his uncle, likes simple things. She found he was comfortable to talk with, and he smiled a lot more than the grumpy angel she knows so well. The two walked out of the store just as it was getting dark.

"I still feel really bad. I'll get your money as soon as possible." (Y/n) bowed to Mahiru again.

"It's ok. I really don't mind."

"Then can we exchange numbers? I can call when I do have the money." She said. Mahiru blushed pink but he just timidly agreed as he took out his cell. Both of them exchanged numbers, as well as pretty excited to have made a new friend.

"Then I'll probably see you again Shirota-kun. And you too Kuro~" She cooed at the black cat in Mahiru's arms that meowed lazily at her. With one final goodbye they both parted ways.
--------------------------------------------

(Y/n) comfortably lounged herself onto her sofa as she got her hot bowl of ramen ready. A night to herself wasn't so bad, some time to repose after a very eventful day yesterday. Thankfully nothing bad had happened so far regarding her health. She was finally able to relax.

Although after half an hour passed she got bored pretty quickly. She sighed as she laid on the sofa her gazed change from staring at her ceiling to the outside window. She got up and stretched, her eyes lingering over to her phone sitting on the counter. She really wanted to call him again, but she needed self control.

"Licht-san has his own priorities too, I can't keep bothering him." She said. But her mind didn't agree, at the same time her mind went back to the very last moment of her dream.

The one where her and Licht...

(Y/n)'a face turned a vermillion color, and she felt her head starting to become dizzy from the heat. Her mind wandered from panic to nervousness as the scene played over. Although she didn't understand why, yes she was attracted to Licht. But did she actually...develop stronger feelings? Her thoughts ran wild at the new possibility that showed itself. But she had to think about Licht to, even if she did she couldn't do anything if Licht didn't have mutual feelings. Besides, even if she did want to fall in love in general...to her there was no way there would be enough time to really appreciate it. Not the way her condition was. The negativity started to pile up more and more as everything in her was pushed away by a wave of sorrow.

"Huh?" She suddenly heard her cell text notification. A little relieved of the distraction, she checked the contact. A text from the new friend she met at the store, a small smile came onto her face. She texted back with no haste, and the reply came a minute later. She giggled and wasted no time.

And then the night went on with (Y/n) and Mahiru texting back and forth. She found it quite enjoyable, finding amusement in the small messages as well as the small teases she sent.

But a distraction can only last so long soon enough it wouldn't be long before events come crashing down.

A distraction, a dream can only last so long....
