𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑 | Jason is taken to the camp for murderous teenagers
JASON stood in the back of the chariot, the wind tugging at his hair as he put a hand on the railing beside the other amnesiac, Dara. She was still shivering, wrapping Jason's windbreaker tighter around her as she cursed quietly under her breath. It seemed that the fall off the side of the walkway had taken more out of her than she thought.
He glanced down at her short form, his eyebrows furrowed as he watched her, before Leo's words came back to him. He'd somehow dated this girl, who was way out of his league.
She was staring off at the horizon, trying her best not to look down, as Leo spat a pegasus feather out of his mouth and Piper struggled to contain her laughter.
"Where are we going?" Dara seemed to snap out of her thoughts at that, smiling briefly up at Jason, before she turned back towards the blonde woman, Annabeth.
"A safe place." She replied, as Jason felt a head ache coming on. "The only safe place for people like us. Camp Half-Blood."
"Half-Blood?" Piper seemed on her guard, looking at the two in front of her with annoyance clear in her eyes. "Is that some kind of bad joke?"
"She means we're demigods." Jason replied, trying to keep his voice non-threatening as Piper shot a look at him. "Half god, half mortal."
Dara was giving him a narrowed look, as she half listened into what Annabeth was saying.
"How do you know that? I thought you didn't have memory." Jason pulled a face, and shrugged, as Leo tried to antagonize Butch.
"Demigods, you mean you think you're...you think we're...?" Piper didn't get a chance to finish that sentence as lightning flashed, as the whole chariot shuddered.
"Left wheels on fire." Jason called, as he saw Dara pale considerably at the words. "You okay?"
"I hate my life, I hate heights and I hate this entire day." Dara whined under her breath, as she clutched onto the side of the chariot and stared at the horse storm spirits that were circling them. Jason let go of the railing to rest a comforting hand in between Dara's shoulder as the pegasi put on a burst of speed to get away from them.
When everything went back to a normal speed, they were in a completely different place. A large body of water stretched to the left, whilst snow covered fields and forests lay to the right. Right in the centre, was a small valley that seemed untouched by the winter weather around it. Jason could just about make out a cluster of buildings, including a cluster of Greek looking temple buildings, a lake and a large stable.
"The lake, aim for the lake!" Annabeth was yelling, as the wheels came off. Butch nodded, steering all of them towards the lake and suddenly everything went cold. Jason watched Dara try to kick her way to the surface, as faces appeared in the water and threw both of them onto the shore.
Hands were there, pulling the pair up, as someone brought out a bronze leaf blower and dried them off with a blast of cold air. Piper was the last to be pulled out, as people wrapped a towel around her, like they had done with the others.
The wreckage was finally tossed back up, as Jason assessed the others in front of him. They all wore the same obnoxious orange shirt, but ranged in age from nine to maybe eighteen or nineteen. It was weird.
A blond boy, with a bow and quiver of arrows over his shoulders, ran through the crowd to look at the wreckage in front of him.
"Annabeth!" He screeched, looking between the blonde women and the chariot a few times. "I asked you to bring the chariot back in one piece, not pieces."
Jason turned at the sound of muffled giggling, finding Dara standing next to him with her hand covering her mouth. Leo was not so subtle, laughing loudly.
"Will, I'm sorry. I'll get it fixed." Annabeth sighed, as Piper sidled over to the rest of the trio, still looking at everything with wide eyes. The boy, Will, scowled before sizing the four of them up.
"These are the ones? Way older than thirteen, that's for sure. Why haven't they been claimed already?"
"Claimed?" Leo asked, before looking at the others with a 'What are these guys talking about?' face.
"Any sign of Percy?" Will continued, ignoring them.
"No." Annabeth admitted, as all the campers muttered amongst themselves, looking put out.
A woman stepped forward from the crowd, looking like she should have been modelling on a runaway instead of standing on a beach with other campers. She glanced at the four of them, but Dara and Piper seemed to take the look to mean another thing. Jason grabbed the back of his windbreaker as Dara tensed up, just in case she did take the violent direction.
"Well, I hope they're worth the trouble." She said, a smile on her face.
"Gee thanks." Leo retorted. "What are we, your new pets?"
"That's just bitchy." Dara hissed under her breath, as Piper struggled to contain a grin. Even if this Dara was different from the one in Piper's memories, they acted exactly the same.
"What's going on?" Jason hissed, causing both the girls to grin up at him innocently. He shook his head, before speaking up. "How about some answers before you start judging us? Like, what is this place, why are we here, how long do we have to stay?"
"Jason, I promise that we'll answer your questions." Annabeth stepped in. "And Drew, every demigod is worth saving. But I'll admit the trip didn't accomplished what we hoped."
"Hey! We didn't ask to be brought here." Piper hissed.
"And nobody wants you. Does your hair always look like a dead badger?" Drew replied, her tone sickly sweet as Dara stepped forward once more.
"Keep saying things like that and your hair will." Piper grinned, as Leo tried to hide his smirk.
"Dara, stop." Reluctantly, she backed down, and Jason was finally able to release his grip on the windbreaker. "We need to make our new arrivals feel welcome. We'll assign them each a guide, give them a tour of the camp. Hopefully by the campfire tonight, they'll be claimed."
"Would somebody tell me what claimed means?" Piper asked, sounding exasperated, as a collective gasp fell over the campers and they all stared at Leo. Over Leo's head was a blazing, holographic image of a fiery hammer.
"That is a claiming." Annabeth said, as Leo dunked his head back in the lake water and tried to get rid of it as best he could. Butch and her had a muted conversation, as Leo finally stopped moving to stare at it in horror. "Leo, you've just been claimed..."
"By a god. That's the symbol of Vulcan, isn't it?" Once again, Dara was giving him a look of confusion. But Jason had no answer for her why he knew that, so he just shrugged again.
"Jason, how did you know that?" All eyes turned on the boy.
"I don't know." That seemed to be one of his most common phrases at the moment.
"Vulcan? I don't even like Stark Trek. What are you talking about?" Leo called, as the fiery hammer began to fade.
"Vulcan is the Roman name for Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths and fire." Annabeth explained, watching them with narrowed eyes. "Will, would you take Leo, give him a tour? Introduce him to his bunk-mates in Cabin 9?"
"Sure, Annabeth."
"What's Cabin 9?" Leo asked, looking back at them in confusion as Will approached. "And I'm not a Vulcan!"
"Come on, Mr. Spock, I'll explain everything." Will wrapped an arm around Leo's shoulder, before steering him off towards the cabins. Leo glanced back the trio over his shoulder, miming for them to send help.
Annabeth then turned her gaze onto the two amnesiacs of the group. She stared up at Jason, like he was some type of manual. "Hold out your arm."
Jason complied, showing her his hoodie covered arms.
"I think she means bare arms, Golden Boy." Dara leaned back to tell him, as Jason smiled sheepishly and pulled his sleeves up.
On the inside of his right arm was a tattoo, with a dozen straight lines and an eagle with the letters SPQR beneath it.
"Wow, didn't take you for the type of guy to have a tattoo." Jason raised an eyebrow at Dara, who shrugged. "What, it's hot."
Jason choked on whatever air that he had in his throat, as Piper began to laugh at his glowing cheeks and Dara's cheeky grin. It had cleared the confusion and panic from his head, but still he couldn't get over how forward that was.
"I've never seen marks like this. Where did you get them?" Jason turned back to face the intimidating blonde woman, trying his best to ignore the snickers of Piper and Dara.
"I'm getting kind of tired of saying this, but I don't know." Jason replied, shaking his head. The other campers all tried to get closer, staring at the tattoo like it was some omen of doom.
"They look burned into your skin." Annabeth noticed, as Jason, Dara and Piper all stared at the tattoo on his arm, before looking back at the woman.
"They were?" Jason said, though it came out as more of a question. "I think so, but I don't remember."
No one said anything, as everyone turned to stare at Annabeth, waiting for her verdict.
"He needs to go straight to Chiron, you as well." Annabeth said, pointing at the two amnesiacs. "Drew, would you..."
Dara's entire face dropped at the name of the girl, as Jason's grip returned to the back of her windbreaker.
"Absolutely." Drew advanced towards them, and Dara slid her arm through Jason's as she pulled a face at Piper, causing the other girl to laugh. "This way, I'll introduce you to our director. He's an interesting guy."
Drew began to drag the pair towards a large Blue House, as Jason wondered whether he would be able to keep Dara from slapping the girl in the short time that they had.
Hiya,
It's another chapter time, cause I really do be loving Dara and Jason. Also, Jason is adorable and I do love him a lot. Dara being hands down ready to fight everyone is brilliant, and the fact that Jason has to keep a hold on her back to stop her from doing that is funny.
Anyhow, Question of the Day ; Who do you think would be your best friend in the demigod groups?
Let me know what you think,
Love Li xx
