"Evangeline, my sweet child," the voice of her father echoed in the chambers as she sat at her desk, writing a poem. Looking up, she spotted her father standing in front of her as he held his hands behind his back. "Can I speak with you for a moment?"

"Of course. What is it?"

Her father pulled a chair to sit on it and cleared his throat, "That man that you talked about in your letters came to talk to me today. He asked me your hand," there. her heart skipped a beat. "I—I'm not good at this and if your mother was still here, I would have asked her what she thought of him but since it's for your own good. Would you like for me to tell him yes? Do you like him?"

"Father," Evangeline breathed out, reaching for his hand across the desk. "Niklaus has done nothing but fill me with joy ever since he arrived. He is good at heart and a gentleman. His family reminds me of George and Tobias. I feel happy."

Was there more to ask? To feel happy?

He smiled widely, standing up to kiss her forehead sweetly, "Then, I will tell him yes, my darling. I wish for nothing but your happiness."

Thanking him with a tight hug, Evangeline watched as her father exited the room. Happiness and relief was exactly what she felt. She felt content. A little after, Tobias and George pushed the double doors to throw themselves on her bed and eat grapes from the morning.

"Tobias, George, would you please leave my chambers?" Evangeline queried, eyeing her brothers on her bed.

Tobias chuckled as he shook his head, "Sister, are you already trying to shove us away? We just got here!" He exclaimed as she rolled her eyes. "Can we at least come with you?"

"Yeah! Father told us about that Lord Mikaelson asking for your hand," George added with a tiny smirk. "I reckon it is tradition for us to meet him and his family as well, is it not, Tobias?"

"Of course it is! Nonsense, we will come, Angel," he said, rising to his feet as Evangeline laughed. "Are you to wed him then?"

Evangeline hummed, "I suppose."

"Isn't it lovely?" George said dreamily, wrapping an arm around his sister's neck. "We're happy for you."

"I heard Niklaus has a sister, perhaps we could meet her," Tobias chirped in.

"You will not touch Rebekah," she warned him as he pouted. "He has two brothers, Kol and Elijah."

Tobias hummed as he followed his sister through the castle's halls, earning looks from the nobles. The three Farley all received their mother's beauty and their father's kindness. Tobias and George were somehow aching to make acquaintances with women despite loathing the idea of carrying their father's legacy. Both of them were young and just wanted to have fun for now.

"So, tell us, Angel, how does it feel to be here?" George asked, walking side by side with his sister. "Is it better than home at Scotland?"

Evangeline smiled, reminiscing herself of her time in Scotland which seemed far away now, "Well, since you've asked, little brother, I do love it here but I miss Scotland terribly," she admitted. "Lucky for you two, we are getting amazing sunny days lately."

Tobias hummed, closing his eyes for a mere second, enjoying the warmth. Sunny days were a rare thing in Scotland, "We miss you at home."

"I miss you both," she replied softly, spotting the Mikaelsons waiting for her to show. "Look."

"Is that them? Right there?" Tobias squinted his eyes as she hummed.

"Evangeline!" Elijah exclaimed, rising to his feet and welcoming her with a smirk. He looked at each side of her. "I presume these are your brothers?"

"Elijah," she greeted. "Tobias and George," she introduced with a cheeky smile.

"It is a pleasure to meet you both," Elijah said, grinning. "This is Kol, Rebekah and of course, Niklaus."

Throughout the moment they all shared together, Niklaus would sometimes glance at her and she could not help but blush and look away. Her two brothers had been rather chatty and had asked many questions.

Tobias suddenly turned his head towards his sister, "Sister, do you still love art?" He asked, recalling how much his sister adores art before leaving Scotland. "I know you do still hunt thanks to Kol who seems very jealous of your skills," he teased as Kol sent him a glare.

Evangeline's hands touched the grass as she hummed, "I do," she smiled. "Does father still have this foolish painting I did of mother?"

George nodded his head furiously, throwing a grape in his mouth, "Of course he does," he told her, facing the Mikaelsons. "Evangeline always had been the brightest of us. She writes poems, paints and practices music."

Thinking about it, Evangeline never got the chance to speak about her passion for art despite used to express her feelings through it. Being a lady and especially Mary's lady had changed a lot, and was not the easiest thing in the world. But she recalled the days where her madness took over and she found herself painting or writing.

On the other hand, Niklaus hated talking about how he used art as a way to distract himself in his old world. Despite the memory being far away now, he remembered the orange flowers he would pick up next to his house so he could use them as paint. Or when he stole a knife from his father, Mikael, to sharp little wooden animal toys for Rebekah. These were memories that he preferred to bury deep inside his mind.

But, he found himself smiling at Evangeline which she returned after a moment. He had been alive for hundreds of years yet he had never felt like this for a woman since Tatia. Tatia was young and a beautiful woman who used to live in his village. The only woman he loved was taken away from
him by his own mother, how own blood and flesh.

By the time Evangeline and Niklaus focused back on the conversation, the subject had been skipped making Niklaus stand up and offer his hand to Angel, "Come with me. I have something to show you."

"Oi, do not take her too far without a chaperone!" Tobias exclaimed as Evangeline rolled her eyes, ready to argue but Niklaus nodded.

"No worries, Tobias. I am a gentleman."

Evangeline followed Niklaus through the garden, "How do you find George and Tobias?" She finally asked.

"Perfect, my love," he replied softly. Finally, they reached a quiet spot without anyone in sight. His lips curled upwards as he pressed the softest kiss on her cheek. "I have been thinking ever since I have asked your father for his blessing, and I have realised that I have never actually proposed to you like I should have."

"Do not be silly," she snorted as she watched him kneeling down, "Nik! Stand up! What are you doing?" She laughed but he ignored her completly.

With a shaky breath, he looked up at her, taking her hands in his, "I am proposing to you, isn't it obvious?" He grinned. "I may be a bad man and I have my issues but I want to listen to you talk about art forever. I want to argue with you when we're not agreeing on something and I want to love you forever. Will you marry me?"

Drying her teard, she nodded her head and grabbed his arm to pull him up. Her tiny hands cupped his face as the pad of her thumbs caressed his cheekbones. Niklaus closed his eyes at the touch, savouring the moment that was ephemere. He leaned down and hesitated a little but Evangeline caved in and pressed her rosy lips on his. The kiss was shy as it was her first but Niklaus didn't think there was nothing sweeter in this world than her lips against his, and her hands on his cheeks.

"I do not recall hearing an answer from you, love," he whispered against her foreheas as she smiled widely. "Is it a yes or--"

"Of course it is a yes, Nik!" She exclaimed with a chuckle.

Niklaus kissed her once again as she let herself melt into his kiss, after all he was bound to be her husband soon and she couldn't care less about curious eyes and buzzing whispers across the halls. At this right moment, she wished for nothing but to be his for an eternity.
