The Job
Kidd's POV
'Oh my god....I regret nothing' I thought.
That feast with the Strawhats was awesome! We got to go in the V.I.P section, try all these rare and tasty meals and it didn't even cost a....work..point.
Best dinner date ever...though I am disappointed that I lacked some alone time with Law, since that's what dates are kind of for besides having fun with just being in their presence.
I looked over at him on our walk back home and smiled at his shadowy form beside me, the stars were only enhancing his dark beauty, giving him a cosmic vibe, dear god did he look gorgeous at night, especially with those shimmering wings of his, looks like I was right about them looking gorgeous in the moonlight.
'NOTE TO SELF: take Law out on late night dates much, much more often'
I continued to eye his elegant form and decided to hold his hand after just staring at him for a while in a comfortable silence, I swear a saw his darkened and shadowy face smile as we continued on down the path home, but it was almost too dark to even see what was in front of me at this point.
Using the comfortable silence to my advantage I decided to think about all the important stuff for a sec. (A/N: WHO R U AND WTF HAVE U DONE WITH KIDD!?!?)
Well, I didn't really have anything to think of, I recently got a badass, enjoyable, hardcore job that I probably won't get bored of for a while, I have an incredibly gorgeous angel as a boyfriend, frankly, the only thing I have to worry about is-
My breath hitched....KILLER
Guilt once again started to eat away at me as my eyes narrowed towards the ground, would this ever change?
Law's POV
While I was secretly watching him, I noticed that his eyes uneasily clouded with negativity as he scowled down at his legs.
"Kidd-ya?" He blinked and dully looked at me, not at all cheering up at my face like I hoped, but his vision became clear again as he focused on me, although I made sure to not lose it as I latched onto his arm to keep his attention solely on me and softly whispered to him, "what's on your mind?"
He mildly bit his lip as he looked straight forward and loudly huffed in irritation and frustration, "how long have you been my guardian angel exactly?" The question caught me off guard so it took me a second to respond.
With a worried gaze I quietly mummered in hopes he wouldn't hear me, "a little before you killed Vivian" Kidd-ya immediately stiffened and became as rigid as a statue at the name of his...mother.
The winter atmosphere quickly went even more chilled and tense as we both stomped through the now windless night, finally the redhead spoke to my relief, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear, or think about really.
"..Out of curiosity.....what happened to her up here anyway?" I bit my lip in agitation and turned away in slight shame for what I was about to say, my voice was cold and thick as ice as I rasped out "..I killed her"
Kidd-ya stopped walking, forcing me to do the same, with a guilty scowl I fidgeted on the spot avoiding the shadowy heated gaze I knew he had on me, "y-you...did..what now?" His voice thankfully didn't sound angered, so with little confidence I continued on.
"She hurt you, so I made her pay, it's a guardian's job to protect their lost souls, even if the threat is no longer one to worry about" I bitterly huffed.
I weakly squeaked in fright when I was crushed in a bone snapping hug for the second time today, "K-K-KIDD-YA!!"
He swiftly dropped me and looked me straight in the eyes with his forehead gently resting on my own, "..thank you" he breathed with a soft smile dancing on his lips.
I blushed at the sight of such a rare smile in the dead of night with twinkling stars, and hesitantly resumed walking back to our home.
"W-we're getting off topic...what's bugging you?" I regretted ever asking when his mood darkened again with a deep scowl.
"It's Killer.."
Everything around me went frigid as my mind shut down, 'it's Killer' those words rang in my head as I processed the following information.
"I just feel so guilty, I left him behind and he's probably miserable and going nuts, the guy probably thinks I'm burning in the pits of hell instead of...ya know, up here" my gut twisted in discomfort as I grabbed ahold of his cold hand, an idea popped into my head and I softly grinned, 'this just might work'
"I think I have an idea but...we're gonna have to wait a while if it's gonna work...you okay with that?" I hummed.
I looked up at Kidd-ya and leaned onto his shoulder feeling him slowly warm up again, "yeah, I'm all aces for it if it can get rid of this aching guilt" he happily rumbled.
Seeing the house in the distance I thought up an ingenious way to lighten up the mood, "tag! Last one to tHE HOUSE IS A CLIPPED ANGEL!!!" I shouted louder as I got closer to the white building.
Expecting him to be far behind I turned around and yelped, "HOLY SHIT!" The damn cheater was using his wings to glide across the ground!
"Hey that's cheating!!" I yelled.
Kidd-ya only gave me a wolfish grin as he arrived to the house first and did a little happy dance, "I WIN YOU SUCKA!!" I cursed out a few profanities and whined over his shoulder as his body blocked the door.
"Kidd-ya let me through!!"
After getting no responce I shoved him aside only to be met with a note stabbed onto the door with a small dagger.
Eustass Kidd, please arrive to the punisher's
compound first thing in the morning
tomorrow for your first punishment case.
