The next day...

...

Aurora awoke feeling extremely refreshed for some reason, smiling to herself before looking around the room curiously. She realized instantly where she was, remembering the events of yesterday like a nice dream...

"Guess we fell asleep out here, huh Brahmsy?" Aurora mumbled, stretching her arms upwards while moving to stand. She arched her back, continuing to do a few more stretches before turning towards the doll. "We did have a pretty nice day though... Don't you think?"

"..."

"Well I had fun anyway," Aurora went on, giggling lightly to herself as she scooped up the little boy on the couch. "But today, we have to get back on schedule I'm afraid..."

"..."

Aurora received no response, as usual while she carried the doll out of the room and down the hallway, then upstairs towards his bedroom to get him ready for the day. Unbeknownst to her however, the fully grown man behind the walls was listening in on her conversation, smiling behind his mask as he heard there would be a quick return to his mother's orders.

"Don't you worry though Brahms," Aurora went on, completely unware of her extended audience. "We'll still find time for some fun here and there... Promise."

The smile on adult Brahms' face widened as he heard those words, smirking to himself as he got an idea. We will have some fun, He thought, staying still and waiting patiently as he listened to Aurora's footsteps. He heard her head downstairs eventually, turning towards the kitchen as he took the opportunity to slip back towards his own room...

Promise...

...

Meanwhile, in the kitchen...

...

Aurora had dressed Brahms in a new outfit and was preparing his breakfast, humming a little tune while she reached for a nearby orange. She looked out the window as she began to peel the fruit, taking in the lovely morning scenery while conversing with herself.

"Another beautiful day..." She noted, glancing back at the doll before smiling.

"..."

Nothing.

Aurora sighed dejectedly before placing the breakfast she'd made in front of Brahms, hoping that it would satisfy the ghost or whatever type of spirit it was that seemed to be lingering here... And so far, so good. Nothing crazy had happened since her minor scare with the phone, but the woman wasn't taking any chances...

I seriously can't believe I'm doing this... Aurora thought to herself, continuing to stare at the doll for a few seconds before turning to prepare her own breakfast. Smarter people would probably just leave and never look back, but noo... Not me... Aurora's inner voice went on, filling her mind with self doubt. Other people have places to go... And....... People who love them...

This... This is my only opportunity right now... Aurora realized, taking a deep breath before letting it out again. And I'm definitely not going to throw it away...

I can handle this...

A loud chime at the front door made Aurora gasp, flinging her toast up in the process as she scrambled to catch it again. The bread bounced off the woman's hands clumsily, landing on the floor and ruining her meal as she frowned. Aurora glanced at the doll for a moment before walking towards the sound, leaving the kitchen and staring at the front entryway in confusion. She could see through the sections of clear glass in the door that no one was there... Or at least that's how it appeared anyway...

She stepped forward slowly, slightly nervous about opening the door for any strangers since she was the only one here at the moment. Instead she took a look through the door's peephole, glancing around for a moment at....... Nothing.

"Hmm," Aurora hummed, backing up and checking that the locks were in place, just in case. "I guess it was n-"

A loud knock at the back door nearly gave the woman another heart attack as she clutched her chest, more scared now about what was going on.

Malcolm has a key, so he wouldn't be knocking....... Who is that? Aurora wondered, steadying herself before walking back towards the kitchen. She approached the door in question cautiously, looking around yet again before realizing she was still completely alone...

"What is going on here Br-"

Aurora's sentence stopped as she turned to glance at Brahms, noticing immediately that he was nowhere to be found. A chill ran down the poor woman's spine as she walked around the kitchen island briskly, checking to see if he'd just fallen onto the floor by mistake... But sadly, no.

"Brahms...?" Aurora questioned, calling out softly as she made her way around the large kitchen. "Brahms....... If you're playing a game with me... It isn't funny!" The woman finished, becoming more and more concerned as the minutes ticked by. "Brahms...?"

...

Meanwhile, inside the walls...

...

The actual Brahms Heelshire chuckled to himself, very pleased with the little trick he was pulling as he moved through the innerworkings of his home gracefully. The man headed upstairs quickly while Aurora was distracted, ducking into the room she was staying in before holding his breath. He listened intently, picking up on his nanny's footsteps as she searched the downstairs for him...

I'm not down there... Brahms' inner voice laughed, imagining how worried you must be about him right now. That sudden realization made the man sad for a moment, as his intentions weren't to upset you, but rather play an innocent prank. She'll see that I'm fine in a minute... So....... It's fine... Brahms decided, ending his internal battle as he moved stealthily towards the rooms dresser. He opened a few of the drawers carefully, going through the clothing inside before finding what he was looking for...

The man grinned beneath his mask as he pulled out one of Aurora's sweaters, one that he'd seen her wear just yesterday in fact, that thought alone making the corners of his mouth turn up even more. With his newfound treasure in hand Brahms quickly arranged everything in the drawer just as it was, closing it just as carefully before pausing to listen again. To his knowledge you were still walking around on the lower level of the house, giving the man plenty of time to position the doll version of himself on the bed. Before he did that however, he paused, almost chuckling out loud at the idea he was having...

...

Somewhere downstairs...

...

"Brahms...? I... I can't believe you're being so naughty right now..." Aurora commented, more to calm herself than anything else. Maybe... Maybe staying here and dealing with this "spirit" is a bad idea... Aurora thought, heading towards the stairs now that she was finished searching the entire ground level.

I wanted to believe I could handle this, but....... I don't want to be getting scared all day... It's not going to be good for my heart...

The small woman made her way up the stairs, eventually reaching the top before moving to search the different rooms. When she got to her own room she gasped, spotting the doll immediately while noting the position it was in...

"Brahms! Wh-What are you doing with my clothes?!" Aurora stammered, half shocked and half pissed at what she'd just caught him doing.

Before her was the doll, sitting and smiling just as calmly as ever, all while surrounded by her clothes. He even had one of her bras hanging on his hand...

Aurora made a sound of annoyance before stepping forward and snatching the intimate article of clothing away. She sighed while looking at the scene again, instantly realizing that if she were dealing with a real child like she'd initially thought, theses are the types of problems that would inevitably spring up...

Aurora's recent awareness of this made her somewhat sad, another noticeably softer sigh escaping her lips as she moved to clean up the mess. When she was done putting all her clothing back where it belonged, she turned towards Brahms, picking him up before heading downstairs to give breakfast another try.

Ghost... Lost spirit... Whatever I'm dealing with here... It obviously likes when I follow the rules and treat him like a child... Aurora deduced, already knowing that information, but using it to justify her next line of thinking. Well if that's the case, then I think I know what type of "punishment" fits the crime...

...

Later that night...

...

It was a rather uneventful day after the morning's drama as Aurora and the doll went about their usual activities. Music lessons, reading lessons, lunch, history... Following all the rules perfectly, all according to Aurora's plan...

Brahms watched from the shadows as his nanny did everything right, everything his mother and father would want her to be doing with the son they'd left in her care. She was perfect, in every sense of the word. Especially to him and especially now that they'd shared so many special moments... Well, ones Brahms new about anyway...

She'll get to know me eventually, Brahms thought, reassuring himself as he momentarily thought about Aurora finding out about him. I don't want her to be scared... Maybe that prank earlier was going a little too far... Brahms' inner voice went on, the man actually feeling kind of bad about worrying you when you'd been nothing but nice. I'll just have to make it up to her with something special, He realized, having a few things in mind already as a wholesome grin lit up the face behind the mask. I know Aurora loves her art supplies... Maybe I can bring down some of the ones I've seen upstairs-

Brahms' train of thought was derailed as a delicious smell hit his nostrils, the scent making the man salivate almost instantly as he wondered what it was. It had to be about dinner time now, so he figured it was most likely something you were making for the doll, which meant he would get to try whatever it was soon enough...

It smelled so amazing however, Brahms decided he couldn't wait. He crept through the walls, silent as ever while making his way towards the kitchen and the peephole that he could see the best through. The doll version of himself and Aurora were both there of course, his nanny looking beautiful as ever while she worked to prepare something delicious. Brahms couldn't help himself as his dark eyes raked over the woman's figure, observing how effortlessly gorgeous she looked even while wearing just a simple outfit with an apron on top...

He felt himself becoming a little uncomfortable as his face began to heat up, having some not so innocent thoughts about his nanny just before said nanny's voice interrupted them...

"Now then Brahms," Aurora began, her voice sounding calm, yet firm at the same time. "Since you decided to scare me earlier, I think it's only fair that you should have to wait until tomorrow to get a slice of bread. After all, only good boys get treats." The woman finished, sounding very serious about her decision as she continued to stir whatever was in the bowl in front of her, humming to herself all the while.

The man behind the wall was stunned momentarily, unable to believe what he was hearing...

I... I'm not getting a treat?! The man's inner voice whined, incredibly hurt by his nanny's words. I deserve a treat... I... I'm a good boy! Brahms thought, his dark brows pulling themselves together as he watched his nanny continue with her cooking, getting more jealous and angry by the second. When Aurora goes to bed, I'm stealing a piece... I deserve one and she can't stop me! Brahms mentally declared, relaxing a bit as he realized he would get his way...

He just had to wait a bit...
