The Beginning
"Stop you don't want to do this!" said the angel that fell to the ground
"Oh but I do. Your kind has no right being here." I hold the gun up to his head and pull the trigger.
I remember the first time I killed an angel. And unlike most demons who told me they felt regret at first, I felt calm. I always thought that was weird. Was I meant to be a murderer?
I snap back to reality and grab my phone to put in a request to dispose of his body. Angel hunters don't dispose of the body since its not part of our training. Speaking of training, I have to travel back to my home realm, Asephere. Its were we demons (and angels) are really from. We came to earth because of the war that happened a thousand years ago. The angels were losing the war and their kind was going extinct, so they found a way to teleport here. And just a couple of months ago we found a way to coming to earth as well. There was a program that took angel hunters to earth to kill off their blood line here.
I go back to my apartment and enter what looks like a closet. As soon as I enter, you can feel a difference in energy. Its not much different from earth. The sky is still blue, the grass is still green. The jobs are a little different, instead of meat markets selling pork or chicken, it sells human meat and angel blood. It was weird adjusting to what earth considers "meat". Unlike what some people may think we do to animals, we actually take care of them the same way humans do.
I walk through the door and go to the shuttle that goes straight to the training center. Its pretty boring there; we spare with each other, we learn new techniques, and, if its time to, trade in our weapons for new ones. It was actually my time to so I got a new gun (a silent one this time) and a knife since my old one was getting dull.
A Couple Hours Later...
I was leaving to go back on the shuttle to go home but I decided to go see Harlow, one of my friends who I trained with. She didn't end up going to the human world because she has a condition and the temperature there is too cold for her. So she works with computers; she gets the call if a demon is hurt or has been killed or if an angel's body needs to be disposed of. So I took the train to see her. I knock on her door and she opened it so fast, its like she was waiting for someone to stop by.
"Moira!" She said. " I missed you so much! What are you doing here?" She lets me in as she askes me the question. "I had training today." I sit down on her couch. "How has things been?" "Eh," she starts "Could be better." I look around her house and notice that it looked less lived in than the last time I was here. "Did you two break up?" She looks at me, teary eyed. "He said he fell out of love with me." I get up and pull her into a hug. I know how much she loved him. "It'll be ok. If you need me to stay her for a few days I will." "No" she said as she pulls away, "I'll be alright." She smiles slightly.
We talked for a little longer but I left before it got to late to catch the train. Unlike some places on earth, it only gets dark six months out of the year. It was a curse the angels put on us. There was a disagreement with our leader and the angel leader, which led them to put a curse on us leaving us with darkness for six months and light for the other six months.
I opened back the portal went back to my apartment. Adjusting to human life has been hard, especially traveling from home to here. I make dinner and look at some readings for where angels are hiding out. A typical Thursday night for a single demonic angel hunter.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. If any of you follow me from my first story "Broken" I probably won't be continuing it since I have no inspiration for it. Anyway I hope you enjoy the rest of this book.
Don't forget to vote! :)
