Lucy's POV

I woke up seeing the same ceiling as I saw when I collapsed the first time. I look around me seeing nothing but some brand new clothes at the table next to the bed. I looked around the room to make sure no one was in here before i decided to change into my new clothes. 

I took off my shorts and put my new skirt on. I wrapped the belt around making sure to attach my pouch with all my keys on it. I started taking off my shirt when at that second I heard the door being opened. I turned around to see a bright red faced Zeref looking at me. My face grew red as well.

"Get out!" He instantly closed the door and got out of the room. I quickly put the rest of my clothes on before saying he could come back in.

"You can come in now Zeref." He came in the room still looking a bit red. 

"I'm so sorry. I thought you would still be sleeping."

"It's fine. People have seen me with less clothes on. So it's ok. But I have to say. I didn't expect the most dangerous person on earth to see me half naked." He and I laughed at the comment i made.

"Well now that that's settled with we need to figure some things out." He went into a serious mode.

"What is it?" I didn't get what there was to be so serious about, but it seems he knows something I don't.

"We need to figure out whats gonna happen from now on." I thought he would just help me train my magic or something but clearly there's more.

"What do you mean?"

"Well clearly i didn't bring you here for no reason." I nodded. "I need you for something. But with the current amount of magic you have now, you would die before you even get the first item."

"So what do you want me to do? It not like I can just suddenly have the amount of magic power your expecting." 

"............." He's face made it so obvious he wants to say something. 

"What? Is there a way?" He didn't respond. "Zeref, is there a way?"  He slightly nodded his head. "Well that s great. What is it? A magic item? A drink?" 

"Lucy, its not as easy as something like that. This way that I know requires you to sacrifice a certain something and I'm sure that this something that you have to sacrifice would affect you for the rest of your life."

"Is it my memories?" I started guessing what this something was. 

"No."

"My keys?" I  was hoping that it wasn't my keys.

"No."

"Then whatever I have to sacrifice would be fine. I'm sure its not that important to me-" Zeref cut me off saying.

"Lucy, its your ability to keep growing and your ability to die. If you actually do what I'm talking about then you would turn immortal like me and Mavis. You would stop growing, you wont die, you'll cause the people around you to die  and worst of all you'll see everyone around die one by one, while you just keep on living without even experiencing death. Do you really want to go through all that just so you can become stronger?" I didn't expect that I would turn immortal. What do I do? "See so all we can do right now is-"

"Zeref, do you know what I heard Natsu say to Erza and Gray the first time they invited Lisanna to a job instead of me?" I recalled the memories from back then.

"No. What?" 

Flashback

Lucy's POV 

I walked into the guild and went up to Mira for a drink. 

"Hi Mira." I waved to her and she gave me a kind smile. 

"Hey Lucy, do you want the usual?" I nodded. "Ok, I'll be right back." She walked to the other side of the bar to get the cups. "By the way Natsu and the others are over there." She pointed to the corner of the room. They looked like they were discussing something important. 

"Hey gu-" I instantly stopped when I heard them say my name. 

"Natsu are you sure?" Erza asked. 

"Yes I am. Lucy's weak and she needs time to train by herself anyways. I mean come on she always relies on us for help, she needs to learn to finish things off herself. Lisanna was in Edolas by herself for years, without anyone from this world with her. I'm sure things would be fine." Was that really Natsu that said all that? 

"H-Hey guys." I walked up to them.

"Oh, hi Lucy." Gray said.

"Are you guys going on a job?" I see the job in Gray's hand.

"Yeah, but we're going with Lisanna this time. She just came back and we haven't seen her in a while. You don't mind right?" Natsu asked.

"Not at all. I mean she is your childhood friend that was gone for a long time right? It's only right that you go on a job with her  to catch up." 

"Yeah thanks Lucy." Erza said. But I could see that she wasn't exactly sure about this.

Flashback End 

"Back then I didn't have the courage to say no or tell them that I heard that they were talking about so I just let them go with her. All I knew at the time was that nothing from then on was gonna be the same as how things used to be. I knew that they would eventually stop talking to me." I finished. Zeref stayed quite throughout all this. "Zeref. I don't want them to call me weak again. When I heard it at the time it really hurt. Especially since it was Natsu that said it." Tears started forming in my eyes. "Zeref, I don't ever want anyone to call me weak again. And I would do anything to prevent that from happening. Even if it means becoming immortal." I started crying and I felt Zeref's arms wrap around me.

"But Luc-"

"Besides I wouldn't be alone." He looked confused by what I said. "Since your immortal as well I'll still have you wont I?" I looked, with tears still in my eyes, and smiled at him.

*Sigh* "Are sure?" He gave in. "Once you do turn immortal you can't turn back." 

"Yes." 

"Follow me." I followed him out of then room and into another room. The room had a weird pod thing in the middle of a room with a bunch of wires connected to it.

"What's this?" 

"Its a pod you would have to stay in, in order to increase you magic power. Once you go inside you would instantly fall asleep for a while and you wont be let out until its finished. You would keep your memories and your body may change a bit but hopefully you'll still be the same." He explained everything to me.

"Ok I understand." I stare at the pod I would have to stay in.

"Good, now strip." Did I hear him right? 

"Huh? Listen I now that you might like what you saw earlier but-" 

"I mean that you would have to take off your clothes to go in the machine, its not for my own pleasure." 

"O-Ok that makes more sense. Wait I'm going in now?" 

"I don't see why not. I mean you already know what it does and we're already here plus you already agreed to." 

"Ok fine. But turn around at least." He walked towards the controls and turned around. I started taking off the clothes that I had put on before. "Ok I'm done. Open the thing up." The door opened up for me. I walked in and I heard Zeref say. 

"Good luck Lucy." At that instant the door closed up and weird type of water started filling the pod. It was growing higher and it was soon gonna fill the entire pod with me in it.

"Hey Zeref! Whats the big idea?! Is drowning me really gonna help you?! Hurry up and let the water out!" The water filled up entirely and I ran out of oxygen. "Ze-ref..." 

"Sorry Lucy but this is what has to happen, you'll be fine." I couldn't breathe anymore and my eyes fell into darkness.
