The night was still. It was a cloudless, starry night. The moon was shinning so bright that rays of pure moon and star light seeped through the gaps in the curtains in professor Charles Xavier's and (y/n) (y/l/n)'s bedroom. Both mutants were in deep slumber but not for long. You were woken up by Charles tossing slightly. You sighed and was about to fall back asleep when a soft cry left his lips.

Sitting up you looked over at Charles, his hair was messy, sweat making it stick to his forehead, a couple of tears rolled down his cheeks as he muttered incoherent words. You wiped his tears away with your thumb.

"Charles." You whispered, putting a hand over his own and squeezing it slightly. You gently shook his shoulder, trying to wake him.

Charles had nightmares, but they were unlike anything you had ever seen. He would thrash around and scream. But you were always there for him to reassure him that it was just a dream. To wipe away his tears and make sure that he fell back asleep with out any nightmares.

"No, not her. Please, not her." Charles cried. You hated seeing him like this, in so much pain. Charles kicked out and shook his head. You gently brushed his hair out of his face.

"Charles you have to wake up, it's just a dream." You said, not letting go of his hand, continuing to shake him slightly. Charles groaned and thrashed slightly.

"Leave her alone!" He shouted, tears continuing to poor down his cheeks. You shook him a little harder, desperate to try and wake him.

Charles began to talk very fast and move around even more. You gripped Charles hand even tighter and shook him a little harder, praying that he would wake from his torment. To your luck, Charles woke with a start. Sitting bolt up right in bed and breathing heavily. Tears still pouring down his cheeks.

"Charles." You whispered, rubbing soothing circles on his back as he started to cry. You wrapped your arms around him from behind, pressing your face into the back of his shoulder. Charles gripped your hands and arms tightly.

"I couldn't s-save you. You d-died, and I-I couldn't-" He started sobbing in between words but you made a 'shh'ing noise and he stopped talking.

"It was just a dream. I'm alright. I'm safe." You whispered, kissing his cheek as Charles relaxed into your touch.

"The v-voice's in m-my head, their so loud." He cried, he turned around and buried his face into the crook of your neck, his arms wrapping around your waist. You ran your fingers through his hair and rubbed his back.

"They can't hurt you. You're safe." You mused, kissing his forehead.

The two of you stayed like that for a while, you soothing Charles as he tried to calm down. You pressed kisses on his forehead and telling him that he was safe to help him calm down. Once Charles had stopped crying and his breaths were steady again. He shifted slightly to look at you.

"Thank you, (y/n), I don't know what I would do without you. You mean the world to me, I love you, so much." He whispered, pressing a soft kiss on your lips, you kissed back.

"I love you too, Charles. Now, get some sleep." You smiled at him, he nodded.

You lent back, Charles's head nestled in the crook of your neck, pressing soft kisses on it every now and again. You drew soothing shapes on his back as he drifted off to sleep. You didn't go back to sleep for a while, making sure that Charles didn't have anymore nightmares.
