when dallon and brendon got home, they literally brought a suitcase. a fucking suitcase. josh was sure they had to be joking. tyler was only going to be gone a week. they didn't need a suitcase right? a week isn't that long right?

he heard the key get placed in the lock and josh bolted upstairs to get his pills.

he knew he didn't want to use them as often anymore. but things have been happening and he decided that he might actually need them after all.

dallon entered the house with brendon right behind him. josh heard brendon call out his name and the mentioned answered with "i'll be down, im just changing!"

josh frowned at himself for lying. now he had to change so he didn't feel guilty, which is something he that happens too often.

once he came down, he saw brendon, smiled and went to give him a hug. dallon told them to go play while he unpacked his things into the guest room.

the younger boys listened and went out to the backyard. neither josh nor brendon felt little so they just sat in the grass. looking up to the sky.

"how've you been joshy?" brendon asked, putting his arm up. it was something he did when he was bored and his arm stayed there for a while.

"i dunno, man," josh said closing his eyes. "life's been kinda weird lately."

brendons eyebrows knotted in confusion. "what's wrong?"

"i haven't been feeling... happy, lately. but i don't want tyler to see me like that. and i haven't ever kept anything from him since we started dating two years ago." josh sighed, bringing his arm rest on his forehead. "i don't know what's going on with me."

brendon came closer and gave him a side hug. he had an idea about how josh felt, but didn't know exactly. at one time, the same thing happened where he didn't tell dallon what was going on with him and it wasn't all good.

he didn't want that for josh. josh was so fragile, so caring, so amazing. if josh broke because of his own emotions, brendon wouldn't know what to do. and he didn't want tyler to endure that pain like dallon had to.

so brendon just held the boy, not letting go until josh pulled away, wiping the few tears that managed to leave his eyes. he appreciated brendon. he truly did.

"let's get some ice cream, yeah?"

josh giggled and got up, walking alongside brendon into the house.
