[chapter is mostly about explaining brendon and josh's friendship.]

josh and brendon were almost always good pals. they met when they were in high school and their friendship from then grew and blossomed. there were ups and downs, holes they needed to patch up, but for the most part, they were solid. they knew each other more than anyone else.

the way they met wasn't the happiest. josh didn't know what had happened to cause the incident, but brendon was in a fight. and he wasn't getting touched at all. josh didn't recognize the other person, but he knew that person was the one who caused the fight. he knew brendon was a little and he knew that brendon would teased because of it.

without thinking about how heated and angry brendon may have been, josh went over in an attempt to break up the fight. while doing so, he got hit by brendon. straight in the jaw. which resulted in an ugly bruise.

brendon later apologised to him for what he did. dallon made him, but brendon was going to do so anyways. he apologized when both boys were in little space so they ended up crying and hugging each other, saying they were sorry.

from there, their friendship grew. tyler and dallon had already known each other since they were kids, but they were completely oblivious if their boyfriends knew each other. they were happy to know they were getting along.

josh and brendon would do anything together. and do anything for each other.

there were times where they didn't know what the other was feeling, but they would always try their best to understand. it was brendon who wouldn't understand. but only because josh was trans and he didn't understand the whole feeling of gender dysphoria. he tried his hardest though.

"joshy, are you sad?" brendon asked while petting a stuffed horse in josh's play room.

josh looked over at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "not really. why?"

"just looked like it," he said shrugging and crawling over to his best friend. "anything bothering you?"

josh shrugged. "just miss tyler. a lot."

brendon hummed. "maybe you can text him." he suggested.

josh shook his head. "can't. he's probably in a meeting."

but right there and then, josh's phone dinged.
it was a text from tyler.
