Dinner/Study

Amelia's POV
It was just ten minutes before Fredrick was supposed to be here and I look like a mad woman running around making sure everything is perfect. I made sure to put in my light pink dress with my new sliver shoes, and pulled my hair back into a low bun. I don't understand why I'm so nervous about Fredrick coming over. His parents trust me and mine and I trust him because he would never want to let anything happen to me. He just seems like that kind of person. Plus tonight we are having dinner then going over our first assignments as partners. I'm excited because it involves dancing and musical theater. The story is about two people with different points of views on issues but they still love each other. I'm excited to learn this dance with him and to preform it in front of our class.
As the door bell rings I quickly walk up brush off my dress and open the door.
"Hello."
I said excited.
"Hello Amelia."
He says as I let him in and close the door.
"My goodness you look stunning."
"In this old dress? I got this for my first spring concert two years ago."
We both laughed.
"You still look gorgeous in it."
"Thank you. I prepared dinner it's in the dining room."
I said as we started to walk to the dining room.

As we ate dinner we continued to talk about everything. Our family's, what we wanted to do when we leave our parents homes, and about the world. Recently I've been worried about the new storm growing in Europe. There have been talks of a world war. They call it the war to end all wars. I told Fredrick that I'm frightened that my brother might be drafted if the war happens. He told me not to worry but he's also scared about his chances to be drafted as well. After we finished dinner we walked into the library for our studying. Our assignment is due in two days and we will be the first ones to preform.
"So let's get started."
He says as I sit down on the couch.
"Alright. So the male character and the female character are conflicted, about an issue that's not stated in this text. But in the end she confesses that she loves him but does not know how to show it."
"That's what I got from the reading too."
"It also says here that we are supposed to Waltz?"
"Yes."
"I'm awful at dancing."
"Here let me teach you it's very easy when you get the hang of it."
He takes my hands and stands me up. He puts one hand on my waist and with the other gently holds my left hand. He places my right hand on his shoulder.
"Now here follow me."
As he starts to move back I slowly move with him.
"Good, just like that."
As we continue to waltz around the library I start to think I've got it. As we repeat the same steps he gently holds my waist and lifts me in the air. I put my hands on his shoulders for support, then he slowly puts me down. I continue to look in his eyes until he gently placed my feet on the floor.
"That's normal waltzing. Our teacher wants us to try and do something a little different."
"And what's that?"
"It's called Latin waltzing. It's the same steps just acted out differently."
"Alright. Did you already memorize your lines?"
"Yes."
"I did too, so let's try acting out the scene maybe that will help give me some confidence."
I said laughing a little.
"Sound like a great idea. Let's try it."

"Tell me before I waltz out of your life
Before turning my back on the past
Forgive my impertinent behavior
But how long do you think this pantomime can last?
Tell me before I ride off in the sunset
There's one thing I never got clear
How can you claim it's our savior
When those who oppose you are stepped on,
Or cut up, or simply disappear?

Tell me before you get onto your bus
Before joining the forgotten brigade
How can one person like me, say,
Alter the time-honored way the game is played?
Tell me before you get on your high horse
Just what do you expect me to do
I do not care what the bourgeoisie say
I'm not in business for them
But to give all my shirtless
A magical moment or two

There is evil, ever around
Fundamental system of government
Remove incidental

So what are my chances of honest advances?
I'd say low
Better to win by admitting my without
Than to lose with a halo

Tell me before I seek worthier pastures
And then restore self-esteem
How can you be so short-sighted
To never look forward to this week or next week
To have no impossible dream?

Allow me to help you slink off to the sidelines
And mark your adieu with three cheers
But first tell me what would be delighted
If I said I'd take on the world's greatest problems
From war to pollution, no hope of solution
Even if I lived for one hundred years

There is evil, ever around
Fundamental system of government
Remove incidental

So, if you're able, to somewhere unstable
And stay there
Whip up your hate in some tottering state
But not here, dear
Is that clear, dear?

Oh what I'd give for a hundred years
But the physical interferes
Every day more, Or my Creator
What's the good of the strongest heart
In a body that's falling apart?
A serious flaw, I hope You know that"

As he set me down on the ground I looked up at him with soft eyes that almost reflect sadness and regret.

"Where do we go from here?
This isn't where we intended to be
We had it all
You believed in me, I believed in you
Certainties disappear
What do we do? For our dream to survive?
How do we keep, all our passions alive
As we used to do?
Deep in my heart, I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess, what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me, you must love me
You must love me
Why are you at my side?
How can I be, any use to you now?
Give me a chance, and I'll let you see how
Nothing has changed
Deep in my heart, I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess, what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me, you must love me
You must love me"

After we finish the scene Fredrick stands up and looks at me with tears in his eyes.
"Are you alright? What's wrong?"
I ask worried.
"Your performance made me feel like I've know you for years and you are trying to fix a broken heart. It was truly beautiful."
"It wasn't..."
"No. Don't ever think you are not talented because you are. You have skills that will take you far. You are beautiful, talented, kind, and thoughtful. I hate to see you think other wise."
"Thank you."
"What we practiced tonight would be perfect for the performance. And you will be the star. It's wonderful h..."
I quickly silenced him with a deep kiss. I know it's a little rude to do that but I couldn't help myself. He's too kind and deserves a little more than what he has been offered. He wraps his arms around my waist tightly and I feel like that's going to be my undoing. I slightly moan and I can feel him smirk. I run my hands through his dark hair as his hands roam my body. As I start to think of where this could lead his hand goes to my inner thigh and I pull away slightly frightened.
"I'm sorry that was completely and utterly dis.."
"No it's alright I'm just a little frightened that's all."
"We don't have to do anything if your not ready."
I nod a little disappointed but knowing it's for the best. He tilts my head up and gently kisses me, not like the last kiss which was hungry and lustful. This is calm and sweet, which is what I love and want to have forever.
We both pull away happy with how we ended the night.
As I walk him out we both stop in front of the door.
"Amelia, would you like to join me and my parents for dinner tomorrow night?"
"I would be delighted to."
"Wonderful, I'll pick you up around 5 Alright?"
"Yes perfect."
I say then lay a kiss on his cheek. Then I tuck my head in his neck and hug him. In this moment I feel complete bliss. His arms wrapped around me, closing my eyes and smiling at how much he cares for me. This is a love I have never known.
"I'll see you tomorrow at school. Good night Amelia."
"Good night Fredrick."
