"Father, our deal with the DeChanty's has been broken."
My father looked nervously over at my mother.
"Patrick and I have divorced."
"You've What?!"
My father yelled making me coward in Fredrick's arms. I tucked my head into his jacket felling afraid of what is to come.

"Erik calm down."
My mother said going to his side.
"Calm down! How am I supposed to calm down! My daughters heart has been broken by her selfish and cruel ex husband!"
I looked back at my father with tears in my eyes and he opened his arms to me. I quickly hugged him tightly and cried into his jacket.
"What did he do? Did he hurt you? Because if he did I won't hesitate to end him."
"He did nothing. It was all my fault."
"Well her's and mine."
Fredrick said speaking up. I sat back down next to Fredrick and he wrapped his arm around me gently.
"What do you mean?"
My mother asked as she sat down next to my father.

I looked to Fredrick nervously and he nodded.
"William is not Patrick's son. Fredrick is his real father."
My mothers eyes grew wide and I thought she might faint.
"Amelia when did this happen?"
"The night you told me to go see him. I arrived to say goodbye but I felt myself growing closer to him to the point where it happened. Nothing was planned it just happened."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
My mother asked gently.
"Because I thought you would be disappointed in me. I thought you might disown me."
"O Amelia we would never do that. We all make mistakes but you need to tell us."
My father said.
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright. Now Fredrick why does my daughter have a ring in her left hand if she just got divorced?"
Fredrick sat up straighter as my father flared at him, almost like he was examining everything in his soul.
"Well that's the other reason we came her Mr. Destler. I have asked your daughter to marry me and I want to have your blessing."
"Well if you promise to care for her and my grandchild, then I will allow it."
"What about that deal with the DeChanty's?"
My mother asked.
"That old thing! Ha! That deal was broken years ago. After we realized that we were gaining nothing more that what we had before then we broke it."
"And you couldn't tell our daughter that."
She said sternly.
I laughed and Fredrick pulled me closer to him.
"Father do you approve of our marriage?"
"Does he make you happy?"
I looked at Fredrick with all the love I have ever and will ever have for him.
"Yes so much words cannot describe."
"Then yes I do."
"Really?!"
"Yes. Now Go girl go, seek happy nights to happy days."
