Chapter 5 - Alpha-X6

Sam was awakened to the familiar sound of the TARDIS materializing, which put her on guard. Her companions wouldn’t pilot on their own, well, she thought they wouldn’t. Why would they? And as far as she knew, they didn’t know how to pilot it solo. So that left one conclusion, it was the TARDIS who took them somewhere. Sam exited her room ,warily. She looked down the hall to see the others also exiting their rooms. When they saw that Sam exited her room, and figured out it wasn’t her piloting, their minds started conjured up theories. They all hesitantly entered the console room. Nothing seemed out of place. The lights were normal, nothing on the monitor. When they were sure nothing was out of place, Simon walked over to the console and figured out where they were, wanting to know where they were before seeing it.

“Anything?” She asked him and he nodded.

“Yeah. We’re on a neutral planet called Alpha-X6. There are variable alien types living here, and they have most advanced scanners across the entire planet.” Simon answered , causing Sam to frown.

“What are they scanning for?” She asked.

“Weapons. Poison. Anything like that. It doesn’t work on the TARDIS though, we just shouldn’t take any weapons out and we won’t end up in court on death row.” He answered whilst examining the monitor some more.

“Why would the TARDIS bring us here? It sound peaceful enough.” Sam said as she walked around the console, letting her hand slide over all of the controls.

“I didn’t say it was peaceful. I said it was ‘neutral’. There’s a lot of places that are neutral, and these scanners are most likely made for Daleks and Cybermen, since there’s a large amount of the scanners made for metal and Dalekanium. Guess they don’t want their planet destroyed or taken over.” Simon explained with confidence that he only has when he works with his little gadgets and smart technical…stuff.

“What are some of the races here?” Sam asked as she leaned on the console, on her elbows.

“Well there’s a lot so…Okay, there are Homoformatus piscis.” Simon said, uncertain and Sam laughed.

“Homoformatus piscis? On a neutral planet? Ha! I need to see that!” She said whilst laughing. Everyone eyed her.

“What do you mean?” Roni questioned.

“Well, the Homoformatus piscis are better known as ‘Blowfish’. They are criminals. That’s the only way to describe them. They’re like rebelling teenage boys, literally.” She told them and Toby chuckled.

“There’s a small amount of them, though.” Simon said and Sam nodded.

“Carry on.” She told him and he looked back at the monitor.

“Silurian.” He said and Sam hummed.

“Lizard people from Earth.” She nodded.

“Zygon.” He said and she chuckled.

“Red humanoids with suckers, impersonating people. Why they are on a neutral planet only they would know.” She said as she walked over to Simon.

“There’s some kind of animal, Krafayis.” He said, taking a while to pronounce the name. Sam pushed away from the console and kept walking around it. She frowned.

“Those things hunt in packs, travelling across the Universe. They tend to be invisible tough. How many are there?” She asked Simon.

“Only one.” He told her.

“He must’ve been left alone, but why didn’t he leave then? And never mind that, those things are hunters. There’s some sketchy figures on this supposed neutral planet.” She said, rolling her eyes.

“And there’s something I can’t make out.” Simon said and Sam went over to it, examining where he pointed. She took a step back in amazement.

“Ah! Teselecta! And there’s quite a few. Wait.” She frowned then.

“That means something is wrong here, if there’s so many of them here.” She said and bit her lip, looking to the door.

“And the TARDIS brought us here, meaning we can’t leave.” She said and they carried expressions that just screamed ‘confusion’!

“What do you mean?” Toby asked. She looked over at him.

“The TARDIS brought us here for a reason, she always does, and she won’t let us leave until we fulfilled that reason or…something like that.”

“Meaning we have to go outside?” Simon questioned with wide eyes. She nodded and he groaned silently. Sam thought for a minute before smiling. She walked to the TARDIS doors an opened one slightly. She peaked outside and saw the variables aliens, trading amongst everyone. It was a market place. Sam looked up to see the TARDIS disguised itself as a tent with a zip at front. She turned left and saw a small human boy with dark, messy hair running around, handing out newspapers. Sam whistled and he turned to her, running over to her.

“Latest NEWS!” He told her and held out a paper newspaper. She accepted it.

“Wait here.” She told him and ran inside and went under the console, the others eyeing her funny. She opened the underside and took out a small  rock, which wasn’t a rock at all. She ran back to the doors and handed it to him. He gasped in surprise.

“This is!” He said, smiling down at it. It was gold, about the size of a normal sized eraser. From his reaction she could see that it was still sort-of a currency here.

“Thank you miss!” She smiled at him.

“Use it well.” He nodded and held it close.

“I’m going to save it so that I can one day go to Midnight!” He said and she frowned.

“What?” He nodded.

“Me and my family dream of going there one day, but when I’m older.” Sam stared at him in disbelief.

“What’s your name?” She asked him.

“Jethro Cane!” He said happily before running off. She stared at him as he ran off.

“No…it’s can’t be…no!” She said, stepping back into the TARDIS with disbelief.

“What’s wrong?” Allen questioned.

“That little boy… That was Jethro.” She said and Toby started laughing while the other’s wrack their brain in search of their name. Once they remembered Sam talking about Midnight, they tried to hold their laughter.

“It’s not funny!” She said, stomping her foot like an angry child. They calmed their laugher as Sam closed the TARDIS doors and walked over to them, newspaper in hand.

“They still use paper, interesting, seeing as this is the 40st century.” Sam said, inspecting the date.

“Wow. Massive time leap there.” Toby said and Sam nodded, still staring at the newspaper. Her expression suddenly turned serious, a rare face form her.

“What is it?” Owen questioned.

“I think I know the reason we’re here.” She said, throwing the newspaper onto the console where they all could see. The headline read:

TWO MORE MYSTERIOUS DEATHS, SHADOW PROCLAMATION SEND IN SECRET HELP

“Secret help? Wait, could that be..?”  Sam slowly nodded.

“It’s possible.” She said and patted the console.

“Hey girl? Did you get a message?” She asked, silently. Of course, there was no answer. Sam stood straight again.

“Let’s eat and get dressed, then we’ll go investigate.” She said and they nodded, all of them going to their own rooms. When Sam opened her closet doors, she smiled to herself. A new rack appeared in the middle, holding up an outfit while the rest of her clothes were against the wall. This was the TARDIS’s doing, of course. The outfit consisted of a white long sleeved button up shirt and black leggings. Black ankle boots with cross laces and a black trench coat. A grey scarf and a black deerstalker hat. Dear me… She thought as she got dressed. After she placed everything on and looked into the mirror, she couldn’t help but laugh a herself.

“Dear me, TARDIS, dear me.” She said and started giggling. Apparently the TARDIS has decided to play a little Sherlock.

“Now all I need is a pipe.” She said and waited anxiously to see if the TARDIS will give her a pipe. She frowned.

“Why not?” She groaned like a small child. She shook her head and exited the closet and into her room. She exited her room and went to the kitchen / dining room. The others looked up at her with a confused expression once they saw her choice of clothes.

“It was the TARDIS’s idea.” She said with a smile and a nod and went to sit. Allen and Vincent were making waffles, Vincent was probably forced, of course. Although Sam hasn’t exactly admitted it, her subconscious knew and she had realized it quite a while ago. Vincent is a little more comfortable working with Allen than any other Silence or Ood. It was clearly Allen who forced Vincent to help make breakfast.

“Mwahah!” Vincent said in victory as he place two eatable waffles on a plate. Allen looked over his shoulder with an examining glare at the waffles. He huffed and looked away.

“Okay, what’s wrong with it?” Vincent asked Allen with a hiss.

“Nothing’s wrong with it.” He answered back, not even turning his head to look at him.

“No! That expression. Come on tell me, what’s wrong with it?” Vincent snapped.

“I told you, there’s nothing wrong with it!” Allen snapped and turned to look at Vincent. That’s when the waffle wars broke out. They argued for quite some while about Vincent’s waffles. Somewhere at the start of the argument, Owen just rolled his eyes and took the plate without them noticing. He placed the plate in front of Sam.

“Thank you.” She said with a chuckle and he nodded. Owen and Toby then went to make more waffles for themselves while Allen and Vincent had their argument. When they finally stopped with their argument, they turned to see that everyone was eating waffles, staring at them like they were a movie.

“In the oven.” Toby said and Vincent huffed in annoyance. Allen pulled out the two plates from the oven and placed them down on the counter. That’s when the second part of the war came, but it only lasted a minute and with glares. They both took the plate closest to them and went to join the others at the table, sitting opposite from each other. While they ate, they threw glares at each other. Sam started laughing loudly and everyone turned to look at her.

“Look at you two! Bickering back and forth.” She said and shook her head with a smile. Once they’ve all finished eaten and cleaned up,  they went to the console room.

“Alright then. Let’s go figure out about these deaths, shall we?” Sam asked before opening the door and stepping outside into Alpha-X6.
