Chapter 16
Sam was laying down in the avalanche of pillows, Pickle on a pillow in front of her. After Sam had cleaned him up and his wounds had been attended to, he was fine. A little cheerful fuzz ball he is. He was omnivorous, but flavoured meat more, seeing as he was drowned in fruit when they found him, he didn't exactly love them. Sam was feeding him peanuts, his sharp teeth that were hidden bit through them. He wasn't an Earth bat specie, he was alien. They figured that much out. The door opened to the corridor, Toby and Simon entering. Pickle's ears perked when he heard the door and turned his head to them. He disregarded the peanut in his hands and flew over to Simon, clawing onto his tentacles. All three Ood had experienced it. Once Pickle had discovered their tentacles, he wouldn't let go. He would claw onto them, not letting go until he had something else to do. Owen was okay with it, Simon freaked out a little, and Vincent was annoyed once he first started doing it. Toby had a flyer in his hand when they entered.
"You got to see the concert, we want to go diving." He said, holding out the flyer to Sam. She took in her hands and read it.
Come on and all to Deniz, the wonderful planet of the sea! Diving tours to the deep using casoiri, the wonderful herbs that make you breathe, speak, and see underwater. Come to understand the sea head on, experience the wonders! Only at the Pacific Side!
Sam read through it and hesitated.
"You guys really want to go diving?" Sam questioned and Toby nodded.
"We want to go diving, and this is perfect. It suddenly turned up on my bedside this morning." Toby said.
"That's how I found Violetta's flyer. I just figure it's the TARDIS." Sam said and Toby nodded.
"I thoughts so to, seeing as we really want to go." He said, trying to give Sam the puppy dog eyes. Sam rolled her eyes.
"Alright then. Why not? We'll go diving." Sam said and Toby cheered, Simon's eyes holding excitement.
"Get dressed in something that can get wet. These diving tours don't require diving suites. The casoiri also protects you from the currents. Oh, and tell the others." Sam said and they nodded, going off to their rooms. Sam went to her own. She got dressed in a plain blue one-piece and black swim shorts over that. She tied her now dark looking orange hair into a single pony tail. She walked back to the console room where she waited for the others. Once they finally came, all wearing black plain outfits, the piloted to their destination. Toby and Simon were the first at the doors, looking outside. The TARDIS had landed on one of the very few islands that there were. The islands are where tourists land and get casoiri to go to the underwater city. The entire plant was only 2% land the rest was ocean. All of the cities and homes were under the ocean. The main race were the Sekkiz, the octopi look-alike race. The main judge at the Cyborg Rights was a Sekkiz. Speaking about that trial, Sam should probably go back in a while, but skipping to the end of it, of course. On the island they landed the TARDIS disguised itself as a large palm tree.
"Oi look. The TARDIS is finally a tree!" Toby yelled in excitement and everyone turned to look at it. The island they had landed on is where the tour began, seeing as there was a little crowd forming a row to get the casoiri. Toby and Simon were first in the line before Sam and the others joined them.
"This is going to be so much fun! We're going to see fish!" The way Toby said it was as if he had never seen fish before. Sam looked down at the flyer and frowned.
B.A.S.
Sam closed her eyes and took a deep breath before looking at the flyer again. It was the same as before. It started to worry Sam. This is the third time that text has appeared, and like now the text disappeared and was replaced by the original text. The first time was a book in the console room, and both last times were on these mysterious flyers. Sam suddenly frowned and turned to Simon.
"Where's Pickle?" She questioned.
"He's in the kitchen, probably destroying it." Sam nodded, worried for a sec. As long as he's on the TARDIS, and not here, it'll be fine. The TARDIS will make sure he doesn't do something stupid, well, she hoped. Once they reached the front of the row they were given the herbs. All 7 of them swallowed the herbs and followed the small crowd, led by Sekkiz, into the ocean. The dived under the waves and started swimming, the casoiri immediately working and their vision enhanced under water, making it look like a sunny day.
"Is it true that you can... Oh my word I'm talking under water!" Toby said, realizing that he was indeed breathing under the water. Sam chuckled at Toby and Simon who were having a mini panicking attack, fear of being drowned.
"Nothing's going to happen. The casoiri usually lasts an entire day, so we'll be fine." She reassured them as they started to play around under water, doing back flips and kicking off of rocks, whilst still following the crowd. Suddenly, an electric eel swam in front of Roni, his face turned even more paler than it already was, if it was possible. Everyone laughed at him, seeing as the electricity inside an eel would do no harm to a Silence who has lightening, which is a much higher voltage. Roni realized this and looked away in embarrassment. The Sekkiz tour guide took them to the main city to do some exploration on their own. Sam's eyes spotted an underwater restaurant.
"Oh now this I got to see." She said and swam towards it, her companions not seeing her leave. Toby and Simon enjoyed just swimming around, trying various methods of swimming. The others were just following behind. Toby started to swim through two buildings, the rest followed. When they got on the other side, a killer whale greeted them in the face. Toby smiled brightly and swam onto the whale's head, Simon only following Toby, even though he was a little afraid. Vincent shook his head.
"You know what. I'm going to stay here at the city. We already lost Sam, come search for us after your satisfied." Vincent said and swam back.
"What? Is the mighty Vincent afraid of a little old baby whale?" Toby teased and Vincent stopped, looking back at him with a hateful glare.
"We're with Vincent. Find us later." Roni said and swam back through the two buildings, all of them doing the same, leaving Simon and Toby behind with the whale. Toby huffed.
"Well, we don't need them. We can have fun on our own, right Simon?" He asked him and Simon nodded.
"Right." He agreed, but not with full confidence. He was a little uneasy with being alone with Toby, the guy who pick fights he knows he can't handle. He was also uneasy with being how many metres below the surface with a guy who had no real knowledge in anything besides following and stalking, which might be a good thing. He knows how to keep to the shadows. But down in the deep blue? That's the last place you'd want to go. That's where all the real monsters stick to. The dark. Simon knew the characteristics of all the companions quite good, although he doesn't socialize with them. But he watches them. Toby, the prankster who in his life before Sam had to follow a girl named 'Amelia Pond'. Roni, the guy who has most common sense than any of them and can strategize best. He worked on the church before Sam. Allen, the smartest and the leader, a previous life on Demons Run. Owen, a guy who has smart ideas and examines the situation the best but all in secret. He is stuck most on the life of obedience and doesn't speak that much, getting over his natural Ood's will for serve. He had a previous life on the Ood Sphere where he went rouge and in the new age met Sam. Vincent, the strongest of their team. Considered to be 4 men in one. He has a natural nature of snapping and getting angry easily, also not wanting to deal with situations and finds most things annoying. His previous life is on the Ood Sphere, born into the new world without humans where he lived in a secluded area and went rouge when moved to the most populated area. He locked away his mind, emotions, care, and all things Ood. Although, like Simon, he has his secondary heart. At the beginning of traveling with Sam, she helped them put a protective layer over their sensitive brains. A type of jell that disappeared after a while, but it still there, just invisible. You can't feel it either, though. Owen's translator can pin itself to anything he wears, and the jell can stick. Vincent usually places his brain under his tentacles against his chin, hidden and out of sight. Simon began doing that after a while as well, seeing it as the safest. Oh yeah, Simon. He's the shyest of them all and even quieter than Vincent, although that is debateable. Simon can speak, well, telepathically speak fluently when is involved with his true pride. His knowledge of technology. When he's working with the TARDIS monitor, tablets, computer, anything. When the TARDIS does something strange and he inspects the monitor, he speaks like a normal person. Other times? Not really. He had a previous life of a secluded Ood, although not as secluded as Vincent. He kept to himself and never joined any of the other Ood in usual activities. He didn't have a strong Ood nature with obedience and serving, but he did speak formerly. Sam, once a peace loving girl with not a lot of sense of adventure. A love for tea, a love for understanding, a girl with strange bonding methods. Now she's a girl who loves to wander off, with an extremely high sense of adventure. She thinks before out and cares for her friends. Her love of tea and understanding things have faded, rarely having tea and hasn't even though about the Doctor or Midnight is quite a long while. She doesn't like fighting, but will turn to it if negotiation won't work, and she'll only fight herself if her friends aren't around. Her deduction skills are very good, asked twice by the Shadow Proclamation to investigate, once by TORCHWOOD, and was also asked to attend a trial. Simon wasn't happy with the change at the beginning, but Sam was still Sam. Simon noticed all of these things, but also noticed the individual bonds amongst them. Allen and Vincent had an unusual relationship ever since they were bonded together, where Vincent gave his life for Allen in the illusion. Allen was the only one who could get Vincent to do things. Vincent usually followed Sam with no hesitation, Allen following them. Vincent and Allen had a strong urge to protect Sam, that is made pretty clear. Toby and Vincent have an enemy-but-I-can't-kill-you relationship. Toby liked picking on Vincent for when he backs out of things or can't do things. Owen keeps to himself, but is willing to work with Roni more than the others. Toby and Simon, of course, have a relationship of seeking fun. Like on Benovseyi Sulari as well as now on Deniz, they are together. Simon suddenly shook as the whale started to swim away, with Toby and Simon on top of it.
"Shouldn't we go back?" Simon suggested quietly.
"Why would we want to do that?" Toby scoffed and examined the scenery around them change. Fish swimming of all sorts in all directions. Simon looked back to see the city fading from their view. He turned back to tell Toby that they really shouldn't go their own ways, but Toby was already swimming away from the whale and Simon.
"Toby!" Simon yelled as he tried to catch up with him. Toby stopped momentarily and waited for Simon to catch up. Once Simon reached his side, he started swimming again, forcing Simon along.
"I really don't think this is a good idea, Toby." Simon told him.
"Nonsense! We'll be able to find our way back, and when we do, it's after we've had the time of our lives!" He said, excited. Simon was doubtful but had no say in the matter really as Toby pulled him along. They swam up the side of corral and when they reached the top, Toby pushed him down behind the corral and Toby hid as well.
"What is it?" Simon questioned.
"Shark." Toby answered and Simon went pale. They waited for about 5 minutes before Toby popped his head out again.
"Clear." He said, swimming over the corral. Simon followed.
"Oh look turtles! I like turtles." Toby gasped and swam down to the 3 sea turtles who were on the ocean floor. Simon didn't follow, instead he observed his surroundings.
"Come on." Toby said, swimming back up and grabbing Simon by the wrist and pulling him down to the turtles. Toby let go off Simon's wrist after placing it down on a turtle's shell. Toby then went to another turtle and practically shoved his face at the turtle's face, the turtle retracting his head into its shell. Toby looked offended while Simon chuckled, running his hands over the turtle's shell.
"I don't like turtles." Toby said and swam away, Simon following.
"You know, I want to see an octopus. Do you want to see an octopus? 'Cuz I want to see an octopus." Toby said in thought.
"I don't want to see an octopus..." Simon silently said.
"Why not?" Toby asked him, looking back at him.
"Because their big and terrifying." He said, looking away.
"They've got tentacles." Toby suggested.
"That makes it worse." Simon said, examining his surroundings.
"But you've got tentacles." Toby said with a nod. Simon looked down to see his tentacles flying backwards as they swam, his secondary heart exposed under his chin. He looked away in embarrassments.
"It's not the same." He mumbled to himself. I don't have suckers, he thought.
"Simon! Look!" Toby yelled and Simon looked forward to see a large underwater cave. He stopped dead in his tracks. Toby noticed this and stopped, looking back at him.
"What's wrong?" Simon shook his head.
"We're not going in anywhere near that cave. Who knows what's inside?" Simon said, hiding his fear. Toby rolled his eyes and swam up to Simon.
"It'll be fine. If there's anything inside there, I'll just zap them with my lightening? Okay?" Toby reassured, really wanting to see what was inside that cave.
"I guess..." Simon said, unsure.
"Great! Let's go!" Toby yelled and swam down to the cave, Simon following hesitantly behind. Toby swam inside and Simon didn't have much of a choice but to follow, he didn't want to be alone outside in the open waters. Once they swam through a long corridor and reached the end, Toby swam up and poked his head out. Simon followed up. It revealed the inside of a half-sphere like cave room. Toby stepped out of the water and onto the cave floor. He helped Simon onto his feet before they examined the cave. The walls and the ceiling seemed to be covered in a sort of dark red jelly with black spots. At the back of the cave room was a large dark hole that led somewhere.
"What are they?" Simon asked Toby.
"How should I know?" He retorted as he walked over to the wall.
"I don't think you should-." Simon tried.
"Nonsenses. It'll do no harm." He said, poking the wall. Simon was at a loss of words as he poked the strange substance. Idiot! Simon almost cried out.
"See. It's nothing." He said, continuing to poke the jelly. Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared over Toby. Simon backed up into the water and swam away, leaving Toby there on his own. Toby hesitantly looked up. It was a dark red with black spots octopus, but so much larger than that. Toby stopped poking the walls and backed up into the water, all the while the octopus stared at Toby with its red eyes. The octopus suddenly let out a growl that Toby didn't know they could make. He dived into the water and swam as fast as he could through the corridor, the octopus following him.
"I don't want to see an octopus anymore!" Toby yelled out into the depths.
"It's a Kraken, idiot!" Simon yelled as Toby caught up with him outside. They didn't stop. They swam in the direction they thought was the city, the Kraken hot on its tails.
"Can't you zap it?!" Simon yelled at Toby, furious. He has never been this angry before, main reason because he did warn Toby and he did tell him it's all a bad idea.
"That big of a body? Ah uh, no way. 1, he might survive seeing as it's not an Earth octopus, it's a Kraken and Krakens are alien. 2, we're in the water. The voltage would spread to us. I'd handle it, but you won't." Toby explained.
"Reassuring." Simon said, looking for any hiding places. The Kraken growled and made an attempt to grab at them but they easily dodged when swimming behind coral.
"What do we do?" Toby asked Simon who looked at him with big eyes.
"How should I know?!" Simon hissed before tentacles began to from around the coral, homing in on Simon and Toby who tried to swim away but were caught by another two tentacles. They were lifted from behind the coral and were now facing the Kraken. It's mouth was open, revealing its variable jaws of teeth. Simon and Toby tried to struggled out of its tentacles, but it did no use. Just as they were about to enter its mouth, the Kraken stopped and let go of them. The Kraken let out a pained call and turned around to see 5 Sekkiz with spears. One of them had stabbed the Kraken. Toby and Simon were suddenly grabbed by the wrist and turned to see another Sekkiz.
"Come." He ordered and pulled them away from the scene, leaving the Sekkiz to battle the Kraken.
"There's a tour for a reason." The Sekkiz hissed and Toby laughed nervously.
"Yeah..." He said as they all swam in the direction of the city. Once they got there, the Sekkiz told them they had an hour before their expected to be out the waters. Toby and Simon tried to search in that hour for their friends but they were nowhere. They were then escorted out of the waters and to the island. They entered the TARDIS, soaking wet.
"They're never going to trust again!" Toby said, sounding as if in agony.
"Good then. We almost got killed because of you." Simon said and Toby looked at him, confused.
"What?" Simon demanded.
"You're talking, and your actually angry. You even yelled at me." Toby said in disbelief.
"No I didn't..." Simon trailed off.
"Yes, yeah you did. You called me an idiot." Toby said and Simon glared at him.
"That's because you are." Simon said before walking to the corridor and going to his room to dry off.
