Chapter 7

James Pov
I swung the door closed. "WOOP!" I screamed, pumping my fist in the air. Then I looked up and saw Laurens crew and the Schuyler sisters.
"What the hell?" I asked.
"Erm...Can you...leave?" Peggy asked. "I live here." I said blankly. "Well...unless you like sitting and listening to depressing stories then leave." Angelica said.
"Well I have a happy story!" I said peppily.
"Does it have to do with Jefferson?" John asked. I nodded and sat down.
"Then no one wants to hear it." He told me.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"Everyone in this room hates Jefferson to an extreme." Hercules said.
"Oh." I mumbled.
I didn't realize Alexander was there. You wouldn't either. He's small but loud and smoke and paper is usually trailing after him. But no, he was curled up, silent a chair.
"Hey, Alexander are you alright?" He looked at me with sad eyes.
"He hasn't said a word since his cousin....Washington kept calling him son and then he freaked the fuck out and now we've got a silent Alexander." Lafayette explained.
Alexander whispered something. "What?" I asked.
"My whole family is dead." He said louder. His voice quivered as he said "I'm next."
Eliza hugged him and whispered in his ear. His eyes watered. There was a knock at the door. I got up and opened up.
"Thomas! Hi!" I said hugging him. He smiled.
"You left your bag...Is this some cult? Why is everyone in a circle? Alex are you crying?" He asked.
Alexander sniffled and said "N-no!" Eliza hugged him again.
"Jefferson get out." Lafayette growled. "Yeah. No one wants you here." John said.
"Erm...I'm here!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, no one cares James." Angelica said. "...uh....I do?" I said. Alexander got up and got cigarettes.
"Don't." I warned.
"Shut up." He snapped. He grabbed his coat and then walked out. Eliza chased after him.
"I'm just going to go. See ya Jamie." Thomas said. "See ya Tom." I told him. Alexander's friends just sat there.
"Does Alex smoke a lot? I mean I guess it doesn't matter since he's an adult and can do whatever but..does he?" John asked.
"I mean not much anymore but he used to a lot...And adult?" I asked.
"Yeah. Why?" John said. Of course he told them he's an adult. Little shifty jerk.
"He's a teenager. He's seventeen." I told them.
"Wait what? Does Eliza know?" Angelica asked. I shrugged. And as if in cue, Alexander and Eliza walked in. Everyone stared at them in shock. Alexander broke the silence. "What?" He asked.
"You're seventeen!" Peggy blurted out. I shot my eyes to her. Oh crap.
"H-how did....No I'm not." Alexander said, leaning against the door.
"Yes. You are. Plus it would almost explain your height. You're still incredibly short but I guess if your young then it makes more sense." Peggy said.
Eliza looked the most shocked. Oh crap. If she leaves him because of me then he's gonna kill me.
Eliza said very slowly said "Alexander. You aren't seventeen. You are nineteen. Right?"
"Y-yup." He said, nervously. Then he glared at me.
"Why do you ask?" He said.
"Well because I just screamed out that you're seventeen because James said you're seventeen." Peggy quickly said.
I turned red.
"Alexander, please tell me you aren't seventeen." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"Hey James...could I speak with you for a moment?" He asked, gesturing to the door. "Yeah! Sure." I said. We went outside. He kept walking.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Oh. I'm going to yell at you for a minute or two and I don't want them to hear." He said. "Oh." I muttered.
"WHY?! WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! THEY ARE ALL I HAVE! THE ONLY REASON THEY HANG OUT WITH ME IS BECAUSE I CAN RELATE TO THEM! NOW THEY KNOW SHIT THAT THEY WERENT SUPPOSED TO KNOW!" He yelled, pacing. Seeing Alexander as mad as he is, was quite terrifying. I've never seen him so upset. Not even with Jefferson. I don't blame him though. I pretty much exposed him to all of his friends and his last family member just died. I think he might be a tad stressed and I'm probably not helping.
"I thought I could trust you James." He muttered. "I'm so sorry." I told him.
"I don't need pity. Especially from you."
"Alexander they were going to find out eventually."
"You don't understand James. You just...I'm...I can't...Jesus fuck I'm going to go talk to them. I hope you have a wonderful life James, because I doubt you'll ever see me again." He told me.
"What?" I asked. He left. I followed after him.
"Alexander! They will think you murdered me if I don't come back with you!" I shouted. I took a puff of my inhaler while running after him. "FINE!" He shouted. I went into the dorm behind him.
"So. You're seventeen." Eliza said. "Yeah." Alexander said, looking at his shoes.
"Why didn't you say that?" John asked. "I don't know I'm sorry! I guess I lied so then I might actually have a chance! I have no more family, so as a teenager, I'm pretty much fucked!" He told them. Eliza went over and dragged him to his room. His friends sat there in awkward silence. "I'm going to go get them." John muttered getting up. He went to Alexander's room and opened the door. He then slammed it. John turned around with his face pale.
"I hope they are doing it protected." Is all he said.
Ewwwww.
