Chapter 13 - Sorting Things Out
Phil inwardly sighed. He knew this had to happen, but now? All he could do was pray that he would get through it without making a complete fool of himself, and that no one overheard their discussion.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to talk about this now? I mean, we only have until lunch ends." Phil continued to put it off.
"Listen, however much I would love to just keep procrastinating, I feel like until this happens we won't be able to go back to being anything even remotely close to the friends we used to be." Dan explained, or maybe even more than friends. He immediate shut that train of thought up, even though it was, in his mind, the best possible outcome. "Besides, it was your idea."
Phil groaned, muttering a faint "screw you" before obliging. "Fine. Where should we start?"
"Um... how about we just get straight to the point." //heh. "Straight" lol. I'm sorry I had a lot of ice cream today.//
"Which would be...?"
"Do you... regret it? Do you hate me? Am I an idiot? Did I ruin our friendship? Did you like it? Did I like it? What happens now?" Dan blurted out, his anxiety taking over, and accidentally voicing all his worries and questions that had been buzzing around his mind for the past couple days.
"Okay okay okay, slow down! I can't understand you when you talk a hundred miles an hour!" Phil grinned, hoping to lighten up the situation. "And in response... no, I don't regret it. And I sure as hell hope you don't, because that took a fuck ton of courage to do! And if you do, well, I think that makes things a whole lot more awkward between us." Phil sighed. "There, I'm done. Now spill the beans. How do you feel about it?"
"I-I completely agree!" Dan stuttered out, amazed that Phil actually felt the same as he did.
Phil rolled his eyes, starting to get annoyed at how petty this whole situation seemed in retrospect. "Good. So, friends?" He held out a hand for him to shake, starting to grin again.
"Friends." Dan grinned back and shook Phil's hand.
Just then the bell rang.
"Ready for class?" Phil asked as they walked back towards the building to pick up their backpacks and head to class.
Dan rolled his eyes. "Sadly."
And with that, they headed to their next class.
//sorry it's been so long since I last updated! It's been like a month or something I think. Also I apologize that this chapter is so short and COMPLETE shit but I procrastinated too long and finally decided I just had to finish it. But be thankful I didn't just end the story here! I literally thought about making this the last chapter for a second there, but nah. Though I do have complete writers block, so please send any suggestions for future chapters! And I've been working on a new story! I have about a chapter and a half done, but idk when I'm gonna publish it. Also, the next chapter might not be up for a while, because I'm going to a sleepover camp (starting tomorrow) and they don't allow phones. (But yay horsies!) I'll be able to get through quite a bit if my summer reading though! Happy (belated) Fourth of July, and don't forget to comment and vote! Thanks! Enjoy!//
