Octavius hugged Rory for the longest time, while Jedediah and The Doctor stood to the side in confusion.

Octavius backed up, holding the other Roman at arms length.
"Jedediah, allow me to explain. This man is Rory Williams. I had trained him since the beginning and led him into battle. I had been so certain...so certain he'd died...," Octavius pressed his lips together tightly.

Rory smiled softly. "It's very complicated, sir."

"If you'd like to talk complicated!" Octavius laughed, going to explain it all later. "Rory, this is Jedediah, he is my closest friend and I hold him in the highest regards. And this man is The Doctor...,"

"Doctor? Huh, I know a 'Doctor,' but he doesn't look like that...,"

"Does he wear a funny hat?" Octavius said suddenly.

"Yeah, you could call it that...,"

"Hey!" The Doctor said, pouting, "It's do not wear funny hats, and I trust my future self to do the same! Well... okay there was that one time in 1583, but that was... entirely not the point of this, Rory, great to meet you -again or for the first time." The Doctor smiled and saluted Rory with his arm across his chest.

Jedediah was pretty quiet for the whole time. He was used to the Romans in Octavius' display, but to meet an actual Roman who Octavius had said died? It was a bit surreal, and even he couldn't really muster a good remark. Jedediah and Rory shook hands.

"Nice to meet ya, compadre! Name's Jedediah Smith."

"Rory Williams,"

The Doctor suddenly straightened up and looked around.
"Now where is my TARDIS?!"

"TARDIS?" Rory questioned.

"Yes, somebody took it--OH! Quick, come with me, I know where it is. Lucius Caecilius!"

"Huh? Caecilius?" Jed repeated.

"A man I met earlier, he was interested in the TARDIS, come on," The Doctor grabbed Jedediah by the wrist. Jed had just enough time to grab Octavius' cape, and Octavius dragged Rory along with them.

They found Lucius Caecilius standing in front of a large blue box. He was a gray-haired man in Roman clothing. He was a sculptor, looking over the box importantly.

"Ahem," The Doctor said. "I believe that is mine."

"A merchant sold it to me," Lucius said defensively.

"Well he wrongly did so... hold on...," The Doctor said something about Lucius' daughter, but Octavius was looking questioningly at a smoldering mountain.

"Rory, my friend; what mountain is that?"

"Mount Vesuvius," Rory answered. "I really don't like the looks of that...,"

The words had no sooner left Rory's mouth when the ground shook in a violent earthquake. Many pillars around the Roman city cracked and crumbled, and Octavius quickly pushed Jedediah to the ground and covered him. After all, he was wearing armor, Jedediah was not.

As the earthquake passed, Octavius looked at Jedediah, both white in the face.
"This is Pompeii.... those angels sent us to Pompeii...,"
