Opthalmophobia
It was only a matter of time before that urge came back. That tingle in the back of your mind that makes you want to do it.
And boy are you feeling it today.
Sun and Moon were called to parts and service after the daycare closed today. So, since opening, you have not seen the two besides when Moon checked in during nap-time. You miss them and being alone for so long doesn't help the thoughts in your head, nor do you have a means of quieting them.
You haven't used the pipe cleaner yet, but you're about to. You stare at the bright green craft item, rolling it in between your pointer finger and thumb. You haven't done anything major in a while.
If they find out you hurt yourself again, though? You shiver at the thought. You don't want to be alone again. Maybe they'll put the wrist binds back on? Maybe Moon will make do with his threat and bind you completely?
You put the pipe cleaner down and evaluate your options.
There are no options! Just do it! It's what you got it for, right? Pathetic.
The tingle gets stronger. Maybe a little prick would help alleviate it? You pick it back up and rub down the fuzz at the end, making the wire poke out just a bit more. You won't scar yourself, you won't make a mess, so surely a little prod wouldn't hurt, right?
You lost count of how many times you stuck yourself after thirty. You continue to do it absentmindedly as your mind races.
Doesn't this feel so much better? You have control of something for once.
It does. But it also doesn't. If the two find out, they'll just be disappointed again.
It's all you're good for. Being a disappointment. Why do they even love you? You're just a liar. You said you'd stop, but you won't.
You hiss, yanking your hand away from your thigh. You stuck it too deep. A small pinprick of blood breaches the surface of your skin. You hurriedly lower your head to lick it up but you can't reach on account of making sure you did this high enough up your leg.
You decide to wipe it away with your finger, sticking said appendage in your mouth to clean the evidence. You scrunch your face at the sight of the angry red dot you left, though. Thankfully, the boys won't ever see this high up your leg.
Probably.

"We're back." Moon announces his return, flicking the curtain to the side and entering the room. He unties your ankle ribbon before he takes a seat in his bean bag in the corner of the room with a huff. They do that when you're in bed and they're here to watch you. You watch him the whole time, eyes scrunched in confusion.
He sounded so...glum. You sit up and give him your full attention because, what else would have it?
"Are you okay?" you ask. You only get a grunt in response as Moon looks to the wall, fist holding his chin up. "Did something happen at the parts and service?" you pry.
Moon turns, his red eyes boring into you. "Why would you care if something did?"
His question catches you off guard. Why should you care? You shouldn't, not really. But for some reason you do. Seeing Moon look so upset over something, Moon of all people, well, it makes you sad.
They care for you so much. They listen, they help, they understand. You want to do the same.
Who cares what they're feeling! They're the ones that constantly threaten you, restrain you, and punish you.
All of those things were your fault, though. So, instead of listening to your thoughts, you throw your legs out of bed and get up. Moon looks surprised as you step over, eyes darting between you and your growing distance.
"I want to help...I...I want to listen like you do for me," you tell him softly, standing in front of him with your hands clasped in front of you. Moon's face softens, arms reaching out. You fall into them and he situates you into his lap.
He wraps his chilly limbs around your midsection and holds you against his chest. He nuzzles your neck, seeking comfort before opening his mouth. "We just had some...bad maintenance today."
You frown. "Why? What happened?" You know nothing of what goes on down there, never having stepped foot anywhere besides the employee tunnels and atrium areas when you worked.
He scoffs, "Besides the usual verbal abuse? Try a controlled shock."
Your eyebrows shoot up. You have no idea what that is, but you don't like the sound of it. You turn in his grasp, his hands loosening to allow you to do so, to look at him. "Are you okay? That's not what it sounds like is it?"
You put your hands on his cheeks, inspecting him even though you're in such low lights you're barely able to see. He puts his own on top of yours, tilting into your right hand. "Mm, it's exactly as it sounds like, Starshine."
You scoff angrily. "Well they have no right! They can't just-just shock you!"
"They can, they will, and they do, Starlight. Nothing we can do to stop that." Moon smirks at the cute angry pout your face holds. How sweet of you to care for them so!
You cross your arms and Moon mourns the loss of your hands when you do so. "Well...it's not right."
His eyes rake over you before asking, "And what have you gotten up to, my little light?"
"Uh..sleep...staring at the ceiling. The usual." You don't mean to sound so bratty but it unfortunately comes out that way. Moon laughs at that and you huff.
"Sorry, not laughing at you, Starlight." He pinches your cheek. "You're so cute."
You put on your best puppy face. "Can't you at least leave the TV up here? It's not exactly good for me to be alone with my thoughts, yanno?"
Moon raises one eyebrow, smirking. "Is that...a threat, Starlight?" he teases, knowing full well you'd never have the guts to do so.
"I just want something to do! Besides thinking about hurting myself..." your voice fades out, embarrassed.
Moon coos, "Aww...my poor little Star." He pets your head. "Well, you have been so good lately. I suppose Sunny and I could figure something out."
"Yeah...g-good..." you tremble, feeling the guilt roll down your back. Moon notices your change immediately. He runs his hands from your knees up to the bottom of your shorts.
"You have been doing good, right?" His smile widens the more you shake in his arms. Moon can already tell, you've been bad. He's giving you a chance to tell the truth.
"I-I...I uh...I keep having these thoughts...the bad ones, you know?" You avoid eye contact.
What are you doing? Going to out your escape already?! He's going to hurt you! He's going to punish you! Don't tell him!
You squeeze your eyes shut and put your hands over your ears. "They...they don't shut up. They're louder when you and Sun are gone. I get this...this tingle, this urge to do something, anything for some sort of relief, some sort of control over my life."
Moon listens intently. He's enjoying this. First, you show care for them and now you're being truthful for once. If you really have been hurting yourself again, in secret, he'd have found out eventually and that would've been bad for you.
But, if you manage to give yourself up, he'd say that's a step in the right direction after everything they've done for you.
"It's not that bad, I swear! It's just a little sting...something to make me feel." You shy away when Moon moves his hand from your knee. He cups your cheek.
"Starlight...what do you have?"
You fidget with your fingers. "It's-it's just a stupid pipe cleaner. It doesn't even do that much!" Moon finds it cute how much you try to downplay your self harm. He tsks.
"And where did you get it?" He could probably guess, but this is a good learning experience for you.
"Through the tube...in a box..."
"After Sunny specifically told you not to go in there?"
You flinch at that. "Y-yes."
"And what did you do with that pipe cleaner?"
You subconsciously pull your shorts down before squeaking at the feeling of Moon's other hand still resting on your thigh. He moves it up a little. You panic and hold it down with both of your hands, preventing his from going up any further.
He smirks up at you, his pointy teeth peeking through. "Does it have to do with how badly you want to cover your thigh up right now?"
"It was just an accident! My mind wouldn't stop! And I pressed too hard but it wasn't bad!" you stumble your words as it all comes out at once.
"Let me see..." he coos, using his strength to push your hands out of the way. He hums at the little red scab. He scans the skin, finding multiple contusions but nothing worse than the scab. He lets you pull your shorts back down and you hastily cover your mistakes. "Did doing this make you feel any better?"
You shake your head no, ashamed.
"Did this quiet your thoughts?"
You repeat your previous action.
"Did you think we wouldn't find out?"
Again.
"Are you happy you told me?"
This time, you nod. "A little..."
"I'm glad. Not about what you did, but because you came clean about it. I'm very proud of you, my Love." Your head shoots up.
"P-proud?" How could he be proud of what you did? You broke. You gave in. He should be disappointed in you!
He puts his hands behind your back and gently pushes you back into his chest, one hand moving to hold the back of your head, the other rubbing your back. "Hush now, let Moon take care of you..." His music box begins playing and your shoulders begin to relax.
You fall asleep, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders.
~~
"Oh, Moon, she's so precious! Doing so well! It's only fair we reward her in return!" Sun celebrates your breakthrough as the two of them watch your back rise and fall with every soft breath you take.
Moon listens as he feels his brother shift around in his head. "I take it you have an idea?" Moon wonders aloud.
"I do! I do!" Sun exclaims. Moon can feel him bouncing around. Sun goes on to tell Moon his ideas while said bot watches you sleep.
When he finishes, Moon smiles. "Sounds like a plan."
~~
The warm hands of a certain sunny daycare attendant shakes you rigorously as soon as all of the kids have been picked up. You're rudely awakened by said shakes and you turn to glare at the jester. He bounces up and down, grinning wide.
"What's going on?" you groggily ask, rubbing your eyes.
"Moon and I set something fun, fun, fun up for you! Oh I'm so excited for you!" He starts helping you out of bed, pulling the blankets off of you. "Come on, come on! It'll be so much fun!"
You're practically pulled out of bed. What's got him so excited? "Alright, alright!" You try to get him to let you go. "Lemme put some clothes on." Sun nods and turns around to give you some privacy. You hastily get dressed as you're pretty sure the more he trembles the sooner he'll turn around impatiently and forcefully help you.
You tell him you're ready and he whirls around, quickly scooping you up and bringing you down to the daycare floor. You're left confused as he leaves you to run over to a kiddie table. He comes back and hands you a piece of paper.
Looking at it, you figure it's some sort of list. "Uh...?" You look back up at the sunny jester.
His large finger points to the first item listed. "It's a scavenger hunt! I listed down all of the items you need to find! You have until Moonie's finished with his round!"
Oh. This actually sounds really fun! "Okay, and what are the perimeters?" you ask, turning your head to scan the daycare area.
"Listen carefully, Starflower, for I am only going to explain the rules once!" He waggles his pointer finger. "Each item will be hidden somewhere within the daycare. That means around the outside of the play area and up near the entrance."
"Wait-" Sun doesn't let you speak, continuing his explanation.
"Nothing will be inside anywhere. So, if you have to open a door, you won't find anything. So no bathrooms, no party rooms, no supply closets. Everywhere else is free to search!"
Your eyebrows shoot up in surprise. They're letting you...free roam? While Moon is out?
"And though it shouldn't need to be said, obviously you're not allowed outside the daycare, hmm?" His eyes harden as he looks you dead in the eyes. Then he smiles brightly and clasps his hands together. "Any questions, Sunflower?"
You blink. This is obviously some sort of test. Not to mention the cameras they'll probably be watching to make sure you behave, but...this sounds fun and you're going to take advantage of the time you get to move around!
"No questions from me. I love scavenger hunts." You give him a genuine grin.
"Perfect! Moon will be leaving for his rounds now. You've about an hour to find everything!" He comes up to you and takes your head, giving it a kiss. "Good luck!" He leaves through the big wooden doors and you watch as he goes all the way up to the entrance shutters, opens them, and then disappears beyond.
This will be easy. You'll show them.
Show them what? That you're giving in? That you can be controlled and trained? Stupid. This is your chance to finally sneak out and get out of here!
You roll your eyes and note your first item. A plastic ball from the ball pit. Easy enough. You start by searching the play structures, finding, not the ball, but other items from your list. A plushy of Glamrock Freddy, and a kid's drawing.
After checking both structures out, you hesitantly approach the wooden doors, worried you'd somehow get in trouble even though they gave permission.
Like a trained dog.
With a burst of annoyance, you push those doors open and step outside. You breathe a sigh of relief, definitely not eyeing your surroundings for a lurking jester. You're still on the hunt for that plastic ball, but maybe this Fazbear token will be around the outside of the bathrooms.
You check, but see nothing, so you head off to the stairs that lead up to the party rooms and check in desk. The shine of the token catches your attention underneath one of the many tables along the wall.
Another checked off of the list.
You ascend the stairs and then turn around to look down at them. Giggling, you run up and down them a couple times. You stop once you become out of breath. You haven't run like that in a while. You need to exercise more.
Returning to the task at hand, you venture down the long walkway adorned with private party rooms. You subconsciously hear the sound of something opening, but pay it no mind as you spot the bright red ball over by the entrance gate.
You gasp when a light reflects off the shiny object. "Hey!" a man's voice calls out from behind you.
You whirl around to find a night guard quickly converging on you. Panicking, you hop over the gate and book it to the entrance shutter. Your hands become sweaty but you manage to pull it up enough to lie down and shimmy underneath it.
You run off as you hear the heavy footsteps chase behind you.
~~
"She's already found so many items!" Sun notes before turning off the cameras to watch through Moon's eyes.
"I'll bet she's enjoying the freedom," Moon smiles, recalling the excited look on your face as you learned about what you would be doing for tonight. The lunar bot crawls along the ceiling of the atrium, heading to his next stop, when he gets a ping.
*Superstar Daycare entrance shutter has been opened after hours. Please advise.*
Sun, having seen the notification, quickly checks the cameras. "She's not there..." he says in disbelief. How could you do this to them?
While Sun feels betrayed, yet again, Moon manically giggles, turning around, ready to hunt you down. "Oh ho ho~! She's running is she? Silly little Star...breaking our trust the moment we give it to you wholeheartedly..."
Sun begins looking through the different cameras leading away from the daycare entrance. He finds you soon enough as you didn't make it that far. "I found her! She's over near the faz-pad!" Right as Sun goes to close his view, another figure comes into frame. "Wait! There's a man!"
Moon growls. If this man is helping you escape... "What's he doing?" he asks as he crawls through a vent to get to the main lobby faster.
"He's...oh no..." Sun feels his self grow angry. "Moon, you have to go now! It's a security guard! He's got her against the wall!" Sun watches in disgust as the man pats you down. How dare he touch what isn't his.
He swings into the lobby and spots the two of you. You look terrified, poor thing. The two are relieved to know that you didn't seem to have gotten help to escape, no you were being good.
The lunar jester flexes his claws, ready to tear the man to pieces. Your Moon will protect you. Always.
~~
"Intruder! Stay where you are!" You're frozen in the spotlight of a flashlight. Your eyes shrink as the security guard catches up to you and looks you up and down. He approaches. "Do you have any weapons?" he asks.
You shake your head, terrified. Not for yourself, though. You're afraid what'll happen to this man once Moon inevitably finds you. He guides you to the wall and you instinctively lay your hands flat on it. "Sir. Just pretend you didn't see me." The guy only chuckles at you while he pats you down before pulling out a cell phone.
"Quiet now. I've got to call this in."
*THUD*
A loud noise startles the both of you. You crane your head backwards only to pale at the sight of the looming animatronic, his head tilted and a sinister grin upon his face. The guard's eyebrows furrow as he watches your eyes go wide.
He turns around to be met with a hand flying to his throat. He's pushed up against the wall before he could cry out, his cell phone clattering to the ground. Your chest heaves as you make yourself as small as possible.
He's going to die because of you.
You can only watch as Moon leans in, sharp teeth glinting in the light from the discarded flashlight. The man quakes. Tears start to fall from your eyes. This is it. This man is going to be killed and there's nothing you can do about it this time.
Moon relishes the fear on the man's face. He should be scared. He was going to call the police on you. "We cannot allow our Starlight to be taken away by the likes of you," he sneers with a growl.
"Y-you're the security bot! She's-she's trespassing!"
"No. She's ours."
Fearing what you'll see, you dart the other way, running towards the daycare. The sickening crunch of bones fuels you to run faster.
~~
Moon drops the lifeless body, clenching and unclenching his fingers. His claws are tipped with blood but he pays no mind to them. You ran away. You're so precious. He giggles maniacally. "Hidey hide! Hide away, my precious Stardrop. I'll find you!" he coos in a sing song-y voice.
He crushes the guard's cell phone as he stalks in the direction you went.
When you enter the daycare, bright lights and happy music assault your senses. You can hear the jingling of Moon's bells in the distance. You need to hide. You run down to the only place you can think of where they cannot get you.
The security desk.
You push the big wooden doors open and slip behind the desk as the shutters open. You cover your mouth with your hands to stifle your breathing.
"Sunflower! Where are you!? We're not playing hide and seek anymore, no, no! Come out!" Sun's voice bounces off the walls. "The bad man was going to get you taken away! We couldn't let that happen!"
You squeeze your eyes shut. Sun is sounding positively insane, his voice quivering with every word.
"Sunshine...we promise we aren't mad! Just come on out! You don't want to be a rule-breaker do you!"
You weigh your options. Realistically, you didn't do anything wrong. You were just playing the game! The security guard came out of nowhere! On the other hand, Moon just murdered that man for the sake of keeping you hidden and you're terrified because of it.
The wooden doors open and Sun strolls in, but thankfully doesn't glance your way. "It's all just a big misunderstanding!" The longer Sunny searches for you, the more his voice becomes demanding and not as joyful. "Honeybee! Come out now and we'll forget this happened! We'll even pinkie promise!"
Quick! The phone is right above you on the desk!
You're petrified to even move an inch, fearing the attendant will hear you. What do you do?
"Don't make me turn the lights off, Sunshine. Moon's the master at hide and seek!" Sun stalks to a nearby slide, bending down and peering inside it, huffing angrily when you're not there. "We've got to clean you up! That dirty man put his hands on you- but Sunny will make it all better!"
Suddenly, the lights are put out, causing you to yelp in surprise. Moon clicks his tongue. "Starshine...I thought you were better than this... We know this was an accident...but surely, no one else needs to get hurt, hmm?"
Your eyes widen. Surely he doesn't mean...
"How many more people will get hurt for your sake, hm? The longer you hide away the worse it'll be."
He's going to hurt more people. You don't want that to happen. Even if you get out of here, somehow, they've proven what they are capable of. They would stop at nothing to get you back.
"You must have known what I was doing, right? That's why you ran? Sweet thing, we can't let anyone know you're here, that man had to die. You're not in any trouble, little Nova..."
You swallow a lump in your throat before deciding to be brave and stand up. Instantaneously, at your movement, Moon's face flicks to yours. He's beside the desk in an instant.
"There you are!" he coos, arms out stretched. "Are you scared, little one? Don't be. We would never hurt you." You don't move. "Pretty little thing...won't you come to bed? It's late, you must be exhausted."
His blood tipped claws reach out to you and you flinch at the sight. He only smiles wider. Your eyes flicker to the telephone and Moon's follow. He giggles.
"Who are you going to call, Starlight? You have no family, friends. The police will only cause a mess for Sunny and me to clean up, up, up!"
You squeeze your eyes shut again. He's right.
"We're all you need, Sweetheart. We're the only ones who've ever loved and cared for you. You know this."
Tears begin falling freely. He's right.
Finally, you choke out, "I have some conditions..."
Moon's eyebrows shoot up in surprise before it's quickly replaced with amusement. "Conditions? Silly girl, you're in no position to barter."
"I'll stop. I'll stop hurting myself...and trying to...leave you guys. I'll be better....I'm giving in." That gets Moon to stop smiling, his eyes narrowing. He stays silent, so you continue. "But you have to stop hurting people...I don't want to be restrained anymore, or-or left alone. And let Jenna go!"
The smile returns as he taps his clawed finger to his lips. "My my, Starlight. And how are we supposed to trust you on this?"
"I can only give you my word." You don't back down. "And a pinkie promise since you two hold those in such high regards."
Moon's eyes glow at that.
"You can have me, okay? You're right. I have nothing but you two and I...I get it now..." You lower your head, ashamed of yourself. But you're so tired. Being taken care of like they've been doing has felt nice. Nicer than you've ever been treated before.
You don't want any more people getting hurt. Chris, Manny, the night guard. Jenna.
"Well. We can't let Jenna go. She's the only one that can get us what you need. And people only get hurt when you let it. Surely we won't have any more problems now, right?"
Guilt flows through you. He's not wrong. Everyone's been hurt because of you.
"R-right," you answer him.
Moon extends his hand across the desk. "Then we have a deal, Starbeam."
You outstretch your arm, hesitant at first, but loop your pinkie with his and seal the deal.
You drop your shoulders. You're done. You've given up. They're right after all, who would want someone so broken anyways? Sun and Moon have done well in taking care of you. It's time to give in and enjoy it. You weren't going anywhere anyways. Tonight proved that. Maybe now, you can prevent more people from getting hurt.
"Sleepy little thing..." Moon walks to the side of the desk, waiting for you to step out. "Come, come. It's bed time for you. And after you wake, Sun wants to wash you down, get that man's touch off of your skin."
You nod, a yawn ripping from you involuntarily. The moment you step from the threshold and safety of the desk, you're whisked into Moon's arm, his grip tight. You're soon placed on your bed and tucked in, though you notice Moon doesn't move an inch.
He doesn't climb in with you, you supposed he didn't want to get the bed bloody. Before you can succumb to your exhaustion, you ask one question, "Wh-where did he even come from?"
Moon had already wiped the footage. "He looped around the theatre and came in from there..." He stares at the man's blood in disgust. Vile man. Touching you. "Hush now. Go to sleep. I'm here."
He stands on the side of the bed up until you fall into a deep slumber. He then slinks away to clean himself up and grab some items for Sunny for when he cleans you up.
They believed you when you made your deal, but that doesn't mean they won't keep an eye on you, but now that you're done rejecting them and trying to deny yourself from loving them...
The two of them will make sure you have lots of fun...
fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun,
fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!
