Cherophobia

You had fallen asleep on the walk back to the Daycare, so Moon tucked you into bed, making sure not to jostle you. "Better hurry it up with Manny..." he mumbles to himself.

"You have a plan?" Sun asks. Moon hums in response, sending him the idea through their shared mind. "Ooooo, Moonie, you're brutal!" As Moon walks back to where they left Manny, Sun's comment makes him laugh.

"You love it," he waves his hand, smirk growing wider. He then growls, adding, "Besides, it's the least he deserves after what he did..."

"I felt it in your core...you were really going to kill him in front of our Star!" Sun points out accusingly.

"I was, yes...hindsight is always twenty-twenty, isn't it, Sunny? Perhaps it was for the best that she stopped me."

Moon can feel his brother's code moving around restlessly before he asks, "He mentioned she tried to out him for something, what was it?"

Moon growls, knowing exactly what he had heard from the vile man's mouth. "Roofie, Sun, it means he was trying to drug her." He let's Sun research it for himself as he finally gets back to where the man was left.

Before he can bend down to pick him up, however, the overhead lights, previously dim, flicker on brightly, initiating morning protocols. "Oh!" Sun exclaims, not expecting the change. He tilts his head down and glares at the man disdainfully.

"Oh, dear, such a mess I'll have to deal with..." He sneers at no one in particular and grips Manny's ankles a little too tightly. "Vile, rotten, man. Trying to drug our Starlight." The usually carefree daycare attendant holds no sympathy for what Moon plans for the guy.

Especially not after learning what roofies are used for. Though, he'd prefer it if he didn't have to do it himself, but ah well. What needs to be done, needs to be done. Sun would be damned if he let this man wander the pizza plex any longer now that he knows their Love is alive and well.

"He's been out for approximately sixteen minutes and forty seconds," Moon tells Sun. Said bot stops in his tracks, frowning at the ceiling.

"Moonie, how hard did you choke him? He should be dead!" Moon chuckles and Sun doesn't much appreciate his brother's sense of humor at such a time. It's morning now, which means workers are flowing in, which means he could get caught if they don't do this quickly and right!

"Calm down, Sunshine, you're gonna burn a hole in yourself... I slipped him a Moondrop as he was being choked. He'll be out like a light until he's found." Sun continues on, only grumbling lightly as he knew Moon was smart in doing what he did.

Sun finally makes it to the West Arcade after a long, out of the way trek to avoid being seen. Manny is no small person, which only grated further on the daycare attendant's nerves. Moon is used to doing these kinds of things, being security and all, not Sunny.

"Want me to set up the rest?" Moon inquires with a hum.

Sun lugs the man into the repair room in the back of the arcade's employee's only area. "Mmm, no. I want to do it." Sun wants to serve this man retribution to what he tried with you and possibly many others.

It takes a few minutes, but Sun is able to prop Manny up and into the STAFF bot repair machine in a way it'll look like an accident. For the last part, Sun protracts the claws from his fingers and makes a small incision on the back of Manny's neck with the precision of a trained medical professional.

When all is done and set up, the solar animatronic slinks into a vent and lets Moon take over to quickly return to the daycare before guests start piling in.

~~

You don't stay asleep for long and when you wake up, you are actually not surprised to see the room empty. The last thing you remembered was Manny being left on the ground unconscious, so they probably left to take care of him.

You start to doubt things again, mind spiraling down the what ifs.

What if they went back to finish the job? Kill him when you weren't around.

Moon said they've never lied to you, though.

What if that was a lie?

"Hey, hey, hey, what have I said about picking your skin?" Moon's soft voice jostles you from your thoughts. You look up to find him scanning your hand with a gentle grip. You pull your hand back and he lets you.

"Sorry...was just thinking..." The lunar attendant stares at you expectantly. You huff, "Just, doubts I guess."

"Doubts about what, my Dear?" The pet name makes you blush, causing you to turn away in embarrassment.

"That...that you went back and actually...k-killed him... That you might hurt me since I tried to leave..." You refuse to look at him.

"Tsk...when will you trust us, Starlight?" When you don't look at him, Moon sighs and pulls you into his lap. "We didn't kill him. We set him up to look like an accident to get him fired. He won't be a bother to you ever again. You're safe."

You look at him in awe. His voice was so sincere, you have no doubt he was telling the truth. He gives you the softest, most genuine smile you've ever seen on his face. You then surprise him and yourself by turning around and throwing your arms around his midsection, face nuzzled in his chest.

"I'm afraid to think about what would have hap-happened if you hadn't found me when you did!" you cry into his chest, reality raining down on you.

Moon blinks a couple times, taken aback, before wrapping his own arms around you and hugging you back. "Shhh," he rubs your back. "Don't think, just relax. We've got you..."

"I told you she'd come around, Sunny..."

Not long after, your sobs die out and you fall asleep in Moon's embrace. The two wish they could hold you longer but the sounds of workers opening up the daycare bombard their senses. The bot carefully tucks you in and moves the hair from your face.

Moon steps onto the balcony as the lights are turned on for the day, initiating the transition. "See to it that Jenna comes by today, hmm?" Sun asks his brother as soon as it's over. Moon makes a note to do so later when the lady clocks in for the night.

~~

Sun returns to the room after the daycare closed, finding you looking troubled. You acknowledge his presence but twiddle your thumbs. Sun approaches and gently grabs your hands, stilling them, and giving you a soft smile.

"What is it, hmm?" he asks, your eyes raising to meet his.

After thinking about it, you nervously stutter out, "N-nothing. It's not important..." You berate yourself for getting in this situation. You're better than this at controlling your emotions, but since that night, you've been slipping.

Sun hums, bringing a hand to your cheek and cupping it. "It's important to us, Starlight." You curse his tone of voice for being so sweet to you.

You shouldn't be asking this of them, you're not sure you deserve it after your stunt, but with the way he looks at you, encouraging you to speak, you can't help but blurt out, "CouldIgetsomedrawingstuff?!"

The solar animatronic tilts his head as he processes your jumbled speech. One blink, two. "Of course! I'm surprised you haven't asked sooner!" His smile drops as he puts a hand to his chin. "Oh, I suppose I should have thought to bring some up on my own..." He shakes his head as if ridding those thoughts and returns to smile at you.

You look away, embarrassed to have asked at all but dying to do something with your hands. He tells you he'll be right back and hops down from the balcony, leaving you with your thoughts yet again.

Why did you ask him? You don't deserve to do anything after what you did! You got caught! Manny got fired because of you! Your fault!

You huff and sit on the bed, absentmindedly rubbing the covers. The berating thoughts have been louder than usual lately. Maybe because you're giving up? Are you giving up?

Just like when you gave up before. You failed to even do the easiest thing. Then you continued to fight to finish what you started and still couldn't do it. Now you think you're good enough to demand things?

You groan and flop onto your back. You didn't demand drawing supplies, you meekly asked! There's a difference. You hand goes down to feel at the nail file you've kept hidden. You pull it out and hold it above your head. It shines from the glow of the lamp temptingly.

You've run out of hope for getting out of here. Part of you wants to relax and let yourself be pampered, but the other part wants to keep fighting, knowing what they're doing isn't right, and one part, hidden behind the two main parts, wants you to hurt.

You ponder and stare at the file, thinking you could maybe do it really quick before Sun gets back. It's definitely not sharp enough to do any fatal damage, but it'll surely do for some quick relief. Maybe silence the thoughts for a little bit.

Because your thoughts are right, aren't they? You deserve to feel pain. You've failed at everything you've done, but this, this you can do right. You push the point into your palm to test the sharpness. It doesn't do much, so you push harder, finally getting a sting.

You pull up your shorts, channel the anger you've held in for so long, and jab the nail file down into the meat of your thigh with all of your strength. It doesn't go in very far at all, not that you expected it to do so, but the pain is there and it's a relief.

You let out a hiss and look down. That'll leave a bruise, probably.

"Okaaaay! I got plenty of paper, multiple colors, markers, crayons, paint- OH! and glitter glue! Can't forget the glitter glue!" As Sunny rambled on, you hurriedly pull your shorts leg back down and shove the nail file down the side of the bed.

You rub the sweat from your head in hopes he doesn't notice as he's laying everything out for you to see. You cringe at the sheer amount he's brought up, wondering why you didn't just say a simple pencil and paper would do.

Ungrateful

You slip off the bed and give the robot a wry smile. "This is great and all, Sunny...but there's so much..."

"Enough so you can keep extras for whenever I'm busy downstairs!" he explains happily. He then suddenly plops himself down on the floor, laying on his belly and picking up a piece of paper. "Come come, Sunshine! You wanted to draw, right? This'll be fun!"

You nod. He's right, you've been itching to draw for a while now. You sit across from him and select a plain white sheet. You frown when you don't find any regular pencils, just dull, worn out crayons and the other utensils he brought.

"You couldn't find any pencils?" You almost chuckle but keep it down, not wanting to make him upset.

Sun doesn't look up at you as he answers, keeping focus on his art. "Mmmm nope! Pencils are boring, dont'cha think? Besides, the only pencils that would be found down there would be behind the security desk! Which we're not allowed behind."

You only nod silently and pick up a fine tip marker, joining the humming bot in drawing. You don't even pay attention to your own illustration, instead, watching Sun as he works on his. Before this whole ordeal, when you visited him, the two of you would occasionally draw together.

You never really took the time to watch him. He looks so content and in his element. You missed this side of Sun. Sure, he's still around but it's more of the obsessive need to keep you happy and safe that locks away this side of him. The side that is carefree and child-like.

You don't know if you can ever forgive him for kidnapping you when you were at your lowest. You never asked for this. But you can't help but yearn for the relationship you had before. You want to be happy with him.

But you don't think you ever can. You haven't been happy in a long time.

You get rid of those thoughts and focus on your work.

~~~
Sunny finishes his work of art, getting up off the floor and holding it in front of him. "All done, Sunshine! How is yours going?" He looks down to see you completely zoned out, sketching as lightly as you could would a marker.
He takes note of the colors you use. Blacks, reds, and grays litter the page in a hodgepodge mess, the sunny bot can't even decipher what it is you drew.
"Looks...demented..." Moon speaks up with uncertainty. From their view, upside down, Sun can see what he means.
Sun bends down to his knees. "Sunflower...whatcha drawing there?" he asks with a tilt of his head.
You shrug your shoulders, not even really knowing yourself. You're just drawing what you feel. "A monster, I suppose," you answer, hoping it'd placate him. Sun's smile turns into a grimace once you turn it over for him to see properly.
"It's very...detailed! Could use some brighter colors but why don't we clean up for now and maybe do something else, hmm?" He doesn't like the way your drawing makes his wires twist in anxiety.
You nod and help him clean up. After tucking everything in the corner in neat stacks and piles, you sit back on the bed. "Do you uh..." you whisper, still getting his attention with his superb hearing, "could you braid my hair?" You'll never admit out loud it feels nice to have it played with.
Sun claps his hands giddily. "Of course I can, Sweetheart! I'd love to!" He gasps, "Oh! Let me go down and find some things we can use for it! Be right back!" You watch him leave with a pep in his step, smiling at his enthusiasm to do something for you.
You never got that kind of treatment in the past.
Before he comes back you change into your pajamas and settle into your bed. You comb your fingers through your silky hair, wincing at the few knots. Sun and Moon have been good with keeping you clean the best they can. They wash your hair in the bathroom sinks with shampoo that you've yet to figure out where it comes from.
Though, in your defense, you're just a lowly late-shift worker, so you've never actually seen the entire building. A flash of yellow and white jump scares you as Sun's wide eyes fall in front of your face.
"You were so deep in thought, you weren't answering!" Sun laughs, setting down a few hair ties and combs. Before asking what's wrong, Sun scoots you forward to sit behind you and lay his legs outside of yours. "So, what's going on in that pretty head of yours, hmm?"
He starts to brush your hair as you huff. "Well...I was thinking about the soap you guys use on me...?" Sunny hums affirmatively. "Well...where'd you get it? We don't sell soap."
"That's what got you so zoned out? Silly, Starshine! The pizza plex has showers! Right next to the laundry room!" he says as if that's common knowledge.
You turn around in shock, causing him to stop his ministrations, hand held up in place as he stares at you. "There's showers here?!" you cry.
"Mhmm! You wouldn't have known, Sweetheart, you were never scheduled to be in that area!" You know he's trying to cheer you up, but what he says makes you weirded out more.
"You knew my schedule?" you deadpan, lips straight.
"Uh..." Now it's Sunny's turn to anxiously look away from your stare and if he could sweat, you'd imagine his forehead would start doing so. Moon chuckles in their headspace, leaving him to explain for himself.
When he looks back at you, he almost coos at the cutest pout you have on your face. Instead, he stays sheepish. "Well, Moonie and I always made sure to check and memorize your schedule so we knew where you were and what job you were doing."
Sun hears his brother scoff, "Way to throw me under the bus..."
"You guys were...stalking me?" you assume, chin down and eyebrows up.
"No!" Sun quickly recedes, waving his hands, "Not stalking! Just checking in from time to time! To make sure you were okay! I am busy with the kiddos, of course!"
"Or else we would be stalking by definition..." Sun pointedly ignores Moon at this point.
You highly doubt they only checked in from time to time , but no use in dwelling on it now, is there? "Well..." you start shyly, "Would I be able to use the showers?" and end off confidently.
"We were planning on taking you down there once a week once you got more comfortable and trustworthy!" Sun explains to your surprise.
"I-I know you just washed my hair yesterday, but please please please can I take a shower tonight! I need a hot shower right about now!" You would literally die for a shower. If you were given the chance to take a shower but had to die afterwards, you'd take the damn shower.
"Adorable..." the two say at the same time, not being able to refuse such lovely pleas.
Sun pretends to think on it as you get more and more desperate, pulling out the best pout you could make. "Well alright! But you have to do exactly as Moon says when he takes you okay? No rule-breaking!"
You could almost puke with happiness, not even worrying about being disobedient, not when an actual shower is on the line! "Yesyesyes!" You eagerly nod, grabbing the brush out of Sun's surprisingly light grip and tossing it on the bed.
Sun is taken aback for only a moment at the sudden display until you throw yourself into him, thanking him a million times. Sun pats your head with a grin.
"We're so happy that you're happy, my Sunflower..." he whispers into your head.
~~~~~~

Moon walks you through the employee tunnels all the way to the laundry and shower area. You awe at the amount of shower stalls and washing machines there were. Why did the pizza plex even need that many?

The bathrooms are dimmed so Moon can follow you in. You tell him there was no way in hell you were giving up the chance for a hot shower but he only chuckles, eyes curling in what looked like mischievousness.

As you make the large animatronic turn around so you can undress, tossing your clothes at his back jokingly, you hop in. You hear a muffled laugh and then groan when the hot water hits your body. It's scalding, but it's just how you liked it.

You stand and wash yourself for a while, even doing your hair for yourself for the first time in probably weeks. You don't even know how long you've been here but you're terrified to ask.

After all cleaning is done, you ponder on what Sun had said to you before changing to Moon.

"We're so happy that you're happy, my Sunflower..."

Are you really happy though? Can you be happy? You want to, you really do, but you're unsure if you ever can in this scenario. It's not fair for Sun or Moon either. You're putting your mask back on, the you they knew when you worked here.

Would being happy here really be that bad? Truly?

You'll never stop hurting. Sun and Moon will tire of you eventually and then you'll be tossed away just like all those other times. What makes them different?

You sigh, holding back tears.

You should have just finished the job a long time ago. What happened to that fighting spirit that wanted to go on her terms no matter what?

You close your hand into a fist and punch the plastic wall. Why? Why can't you just accept this?

You just want to be happy.
