Acrophobia

It has only been 2 hours since you've learned Sun and Moon planned on keeping you in their room. The former had since left to retrieve you a pair of pajamas from the gift shop since, you know, you didn't exactly plan on living with and being kidnapped by one of your best friends.

For the moment of silence to yourself, you decide to look around. The room, or your new home, is pretty barebones now that you've stood up and walked around. A tube connects to another room in the wall between the bed and table. You squat down to peer inside but it's pitch black so you can't see anything.

Next, you check out the thin curtains. Peering through them, you notice you're up high, really high, and a little balcony juts out in front of you. You frown and stare at the height, seeing the security desk in the distance. Getting onto your hands and knees, you slowly inch up to the edge and glance over.

You're directly above the ball pit. You think you remember this balcony, then. This is the one Sun jumps off of to start the day when kids come in. You never knew they had a room back here. You see Sun walking into the daycare, so you quickly crawl backwards behind the curtains.

Sun is glad you only seemed a little curious of your surroundings and thankful that Moon was keeping an eye on you through the cams while he was out. Said bot almost panicked when he mentioned you were on the balcony. They'll really need to double down on making sure you'll be safe.

No more venturing out and leaving you by yourself while awake. He takes their wire up and lands gracefully. "Sunlight! I brought your jammies! They should fit perfectly!" You narrow your eyes at the Moondrop themed pajama set, trying to ignore how he could know they would fit perfectly.

"Thank you..." you whisper, not wanting to be rude as he did get you something. He notices your mind racing and frowns.

"What's wrong, Love?" You think of a lot of things that could classify as being wrong right now, but your main concern was the lack of a bathroom. You voice that to him. He giggles. "We never had a use for one, so there isn't one up here! Just let me or Moonie know if you need to freshen up and we'll take you, okay?"

He tells you as if that isn't extremely embarrassing and demeaning to ask and get escorted to the bathroom every time. "Well...um I need to get changed..." you tell him but he only smiles at you. You huff, "I need privacy to do that, Sunny."

"Oh! Right right right! Yes! I'll let you clean up in the bathroom, silly me! Come here, Star!" He makes a grabby motion with his hands, eager to pick you up. You look around nervously.

"Isn't there any other way to get down?" Not only are you definitely not being carried down, but you thought about asking for other exits while being inconspicuous about how it would be beneficial.

You watch as his grin grows wider. "Nope!"

~~

You see your cheeks flushed red in the mirror from being cradled so closely to Sun as he carried you down from the room. You smack them. "Stupid..." you tell yourself. Your eye catches something in the trash next to you. Crouching down, you lift it up. It's the bottle of pills. Empty, though, of course. You knew it was a brand new bottle but you could guess what happened to the rest.

You gasp at the sudden darkness. You wave your hand and the lights turn back on. Surely Sun must be wondering what's taking so long, so you quickly wash your face and change in a bathroom stall, not trusting the Solar bot to not come in abruptly.

When you put your new clothes on, you fold your work uniform neatly and set them on the floor. You stare down at them, thinking about how you got here. Sniffling, you sit on the closed toilet and pull your knees up to your chest.

You didn't want this. Sunny's comfort or love. Moon's too, apparently. You were tired. They'll find out soon enough that you're not worth the trouble and effort. Their love must be derived from something else, surely they'll see how you really are and those feelings will go away.

You just have to wait until that happens and they'll throw you out just like everyone else in your life had. You blink slowly many times. The day is starting to catch up to you. Or is it morning now? You're not sure but you close your eyes and lay your head on your knees.

The lights turn off again but you don't mind. Like you said, you're tired.

~~

"I should go in, right? Surely it doesn't take that long to change, right?" Sun starts to spiral into panicked mutterings, pacing right outside the woman's restroom. Evidently, Moon doesn't appreciate it either, and with no cameras in the bathroom, he has no way to check on you.

"Go in and get her," he tells his brother. Happy to be agreed with, Sun turns the handle and walks in.

"Oh!" he exclaims, seeing that it's dark. Sun immediately turns into Moon and since he hasn't been able to meet his Star properly yet, he makes sure to disable the automatic lighting. He takes soft, quiet steps around the large bathroom. He doesn't see any feet underneath the stalls and while that would concern him, Moon could hear slow breathing from within one of them.

Being that this is a children's restroom, Moon's height easily trumps over the stall doors, so he is able to reach over and unlatch yours. He pushes it in to find you in a light sleep. Moon watches, head tilted. He loves the look of innocence on your face. So vulnerable, yet serene while you sleep.

You're just so precious.

The Lunar bot reaches in and runs his fingers through your hair. Though, he has troubles with how knotted it is. You whine and begin to wake up. When you do, you gasp at the red light you're currently being bathed in. Backing up in defense, you almost cry at the corner you've backed yourself into.

"Shhh, it's just me Starlight..." You realize this must be Moon. You're still scared at the position you're in, though, so you say nothing. "You must be exhausted, sweet thing. Come, let me take you to bed, tuck you in." You see his blue tipped fingers beckon you toward him.

You hesitate. Of course you do! You've never met this guy and yet Sun claims he loved you just as much as he did. "Please don't take me back up there..." you plead. Moon only hums in response and reaches down to lift you up and carry you bridal style. You jerk and squirm in his grip.

As he carries you out of the bathroom, he hums a tune that puts you at ease more than you'd like to admit. Something about it just calms your mind. He smiles down at you as you look between him and the balcony.

"Don't be scared, Stardust. Your home is safe. I'll be right there with you while you sleep." That wasn't exactly what you were worried about, but you sigh in acceptance, knowing you probably won't get anywhere with Moon. And since you don't know Sun's other half, you refrain from arguing as you don't know how he'll react.

The way up to the room was just as bad as the way down. Moon revels in the closeness, especially when you gripped him tighter as the two of you ascended. However, he knows you must sleep and so he sets you down atop your new bed.

You run your hand over the covers and pillows, enjoying the feel. Your bed at home...your old apartment, never felt this good. The pain in your back is proof. Moon lifts the blankets and ushers you under them. You do so and he pulls them up to your chin. Your eyes begin to droop but your mind prevents yourself from calming down.

You're not sure you can sleep with Moon standing over you like he's doing. His grin is becoming to look sinister under the dim glow of his eyes and since he doesn't look like he'll be turning, or leaving, anytime soon, you roll over to be against the wall.

Finally, you close your eyes, the stress, pain and exhaustion overtaking you. The last thing you hear is the humming from the Moon.

~~

Moon watches you closely while you sleep. You won't get too much as it's close to opening time for the Pizzaplex, but he's made sure to keep plenty of Moondrops on his person, should you need them at any point. Thankfully, you have no nightmares and you're quiet throughout until 8 am rolls around.

The lights in the daycare turn on, engulfing the room past the curtains. With a final look at you, Moon retracts with a quick change. Sun gets up from Moon's spot on the floor, excited to start your first day with them. While the daycare opens at 9, kids don't usually come in until 10, so Sun hopes he'll have time to spend with you.

He grabs the packaged toaster pastries Moon had snagged earlier and approaches your bed. "Oh, she's so cutecutecute when sleeping, I almost don't want to wake her!" Though, spending time with you before he has to get to work is more important, so Sun gently shakes you.

"Wha' time issit?" you slur, mind waking up.

"Eight 'o' four am! Good morning, Honey Bee!" You shoot up in bed. Who the hell? As you open your eyes, you remember exactly where you are and what happened. Right. The sunny caretaker is in your face, smiling widely.

You rub your face as something is dropped onto your lap. "I um..." you fiddle with the foil wrapping, "I'm not that hungry..." You sigh, too upset to really want to do anything other than sleep.

Sun tsks and you think he's grabbing the breakfast to put away but you turn to look at him in confusion as you hear the packaging rip. "Honey, you need to eat! You haven't had anything since...your accident. You need to rebuild your strength!" He grabs one of the two pastries and holds it in front of you.

The smell of cinnamon almost makes you gag. "I really don't-" You get cut off as Sun jumps up onto the end of your bed and sits criss-cross in front of you.

"Star, please eat. Don't make me feed you." The way he says that to you so sternly startles you. "Unless you'd like me to? Oh, I'd love to! Just say the word!" Then he goes right back to his happy disposition. You're certainly not going to divulge him by humiliating yourself in letting him feed you, so you begrudgingly take the food.

Sun pouts, wanting to feed you but can't help but be very proud of you for eating. "Good job, Sunshine! Such a good girl!" You flush at the praise. You're only eating, yet you feel like a baby.

You take small nibbles as Sun watches you closely. The cinnamon scratches your throat but you don't say anything. You start to take bigger bites, but only because you can't stand having him stare at you like that much longer and hoping finishing your food would make him happy.

You finish your first pastry so Sun goes for the second one. You stop him. "Wait...I really don't think I can eat another..." you tell him honestly. Your stomach is already protesting the first one. Your lack of eating at home is coming back to bite you.

"Okay! I'll save it for later! Thank you for eating that for me, Starlight." Sun wraps up your leftovers and puts it in a pocket within his poofy pants. The Solar bot gets off your bed, the weight change bouncing the mattresses as he does so, and pulls out a board game from underneath the frame. "Let's play a game!"

You just gawk at him. How can he be so happy? How can he want to play a game right now? Can't he see how he's hurting you?

"Sun...I don't want to play a game." You begin to tear up. Shocked, Sun approaches you but you bat him away weakly. "I just want..." What do you want? Your freedom? You have nothing. To go home? You were a week from being kicked out. "I'm tired, Sun. I just want...to sleep."

"But, butbutbut you just woke up, my Love. I know you didn't get much rest last night, but you could take a nap later during nap time-" You growl in frustration. He doesn't understand!

"That's not the type of sleep, she wants, Sun." Sun wrings his hands together when Moon tells him this. He doesn't want to think about the type of sleep you're asking for. How could you ask for that? You're here, with them. Safe.

Safesafesafesafesafe

"You can't ask for that, my Sunlight. Nonono! We love you so very much, we couldn't bear to hear you say these things, let alone allow you to do it."

You grip your hair, overwhelmed. "You- you can't love me, Sun!" You cry out, pulling some hair from your head in despair. "You don't know me! You know the mask I put on while I was at work! You don't really want me, I'm nothing. A nobody. I have nothing to give! Nothing to live for anymore!"

Sun puts his hands over where his ears would be and shakes his head. "Nonononono! We do! We love you! You're just...upset! So many people have hurt you, we know! You've told us! They won't- they can't hurt you here! We want you Starlight. We can't express how much we really do. You'll understand, I promise you will."

You scream with a broken sob, your torment and hopelessness catching up. You have nothing to relieve your pain. Your thoughts go haywire. You hate it. You hate it. You hate it. Sun and Moon are delusional. You know they are. No one loves you. No one ever had. Some would say they did. You believed them.

They lied.

You scratch and attempt to get out of Sunny's sudden hold on you. He grips you tight and rocks back and forth in an attempt to comfort you like before. He hates to see you like this. To see you think of yourself like this. He and Moon will show you and make you see how much they cherish you. How much you're wanted.

Seeing that your scratching isn't actually going to get him to let you go, you bring your hands back up to your head, pulling out hair at an alarming rate. Anything to get your mind off your thoughts.

"Nononono, Sweetheart, stop, you're hurting yourself..." Sun delicately pries your fingers open and pulls them away from your scalp, keeping both of them in one of his to prevent any more harm. "Moon..." Sunny calls for his brother in his head.

"Shhh, let her cry it out, Sun. Poor thing. She's in so much anguish. Show her our love and comfort her through it." Moon takes note of your harmful tendencies to yourself. He'll have to remember to clip those long nails of yours lest you use them on your own arm like you did to Sunny's.

He holds you just like that until the echoes of children's laughter interrupts. Sun frowns, not wanting to leave you like this. You fell asleep again a few minutes ago, but even then...Sun sighs. He has to get to work. Hopefully you'll stay asleep.

"I'll check on her during naptime..." Moon reassures his brother. With one last whine and even a small kiss to your forehead, Sun deposits you back onto your bed, being sure not to wake you.

~~~
To Sunny, the days he spent with the children went by slow but he loved it! He cherished the time and fun they all had! But now? All he wants is for the day to end so he can be with you again. You're so fragile right now and he doesn't want you to wake up all alone!
It finally becomes nap time, and while most children despised it, Sun was happy that it was Moon's turn so that he could check up on their Stardrop. "Settle down, now! Come on, gather your blankets! Don't leave your plushies!" Sun corrals the kids to set up their sleeping mats.
Right on the dot, like clockwork, the lights dim and the Moon rises. "Shhh...lay your heads, it's time for sleep." Moon tip-toes around, hushing the more rowdy children. "Nighty-night. Rulebreakers don't get Sundrops when they awake." The pointed looks he gives certain kids causes them to quickly roll over to sleep.
"Mister Moon?" Said bot turns to the voice, Sarah, age 6, as she looks up at him with wide eyes.
"Yes, little one? What's wrong?" If Sarah was still up, something was the matter. Moon kept track of every little one of his starling's sleep patterns and rituals. Some needed their toys, or blankets. Some needed promised rewards for being good, while little Sarah was always the first to fall asleep.
"I think I saw somefing from Mister Sunny's castle..." she whispers, almost unsure of herself. Moon narrows his eyes, looking at their balcony. Nothing is amiss, though he knows Sarah is not a liar.
He smiles and pats her head, helping her lie back down. "Shhh, I'm sure it was just the dancing shadows, little one. Nighty-night now..." She nods and curls up, quickly falling asleep. Moon glances around, scanning the kids to make sure they were all asleep before ascending to the top of the play-structure.
From here, he can watch the little ones and keep an eye on the balcony, lest you move around again. You're lucky to not be making any noise.
~~
You had awoken to darkness, again. Nervous, you get up and peek outside the curtains. It must be nap time if the many children lying on the floor and the darkness of the daycare had anything to do with it.
You peer down, noticing a little girl talking to Moon before pointing up at you. You gasp, quickly backing up to not be seen. You sit there, pondering for a moment. It's dark, surely no one would see if you just...fell off the balcony, right?
Moon's preoccupied with the kids, so not even he would be fast enough to notice.
Right?
It'll be quick, hopefully painless, but quick nonetheless. You wish you didn't have to do this, especially in front of kids, but you don't really have any other choice. If you want out of here, be it through an ambulance or a body bag, you have to try.
You peek through again, making sure the coast is clear. You don't see Moon, nor any sign of any kids being awake. Are you really going to jump? Before you could stop and hesitate, you walk out, take a step off and...
You're free falling.
But only for a few seconds as your wrist is suddenly ensnared tightly. Your chest heaves as your eyes open to see a very angry Moon hanging above you on his wire. You open your mouth but before you could say anything, Moon's other hand is covering it and you're whisked away back into the room.
Once inside, Moon tosses your wrist and growls. "And just what were you planning on doing there, hmm??" The tone of his voice burns away any lies you had on your tongue.
"I-uh..." your voice trembles. How is he going to react if you straight up tell him you decided to throw yourself off a balcony?
Moon paces back and forth, the action not helping your nerves. "It appears you're not to be trusted to be left alone, even while asleep. Our mistake, Starlight. It won't happen again." You shiver at his oddly smooth and calm voice.
You absolutely do not want to be watched 24/7. "No, I-!"
"Not another word!" Moon cuts you off sharply with a growl. Your mouth snaps shut. You're stock still as you watch the Lunar animatronic disappear through the tube in the wall into the other room. You don't dare to move until he's back.
When he crawls back out, your immediate notice was the rope in his hands. No, he's not going to do what you're thinking is he? "Hands," he says coldly.
"Moon..." you whisper, tears welling up.
"Hands, Starlight."
You whimper and hold your wrists up. He makes quick work with tying them together. You sniffle, the itchy rope is surely going to leave a rash. He plops down onto your bed. You stay there, confused, until he silently beckons you over.
Not wanting to make him more upset, you sit next to him. Moon frowns and pulls you into his lap. You squeak at the movement. He strokes your hair while humming along to his music box that sputters to life. "I don't want to see you do that ever again. Do I make myself clear, Stardrop?"
You sniffle again, nodding into his chest. Moon smiles down at you.
"Good... While Sun and I are gone, you are to remain quiet. You'll be tied up to your bed. We cannot trust you if you pull stunts like that." Tied up? You don't want to be bound all day with nothing to do but be alone with your thoughts.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry!" you cry, hoping your apology will reverse your punishment. "I don't want to be tied up!"
"Shhh," Moon holds the back of your head against his chest plate. The coolness helps with your warm cheeks. "Actions have consequences, Dewdrop. This is your punishment. You have to prove you can be trusted."
You deserve this. You deserve to be tied up. You literally walked off a balcony. You can't do anything right and now you're being punished for it. "I'm sorry," you whisper again.
"What are you sorry for?" Moon hums.
"Fo-for jumping..."
"Mhmm, good girl." Moon procures a candy from his pocket and holds it up in front of you. You go cross eyed trying to look at it. "Take this, you should rest now." You take hold of the candy and roll it between two fingers.
"Is this your sleepy-time candy?" You get a response from his hum. He takes it from you and unwraps it, holding it up to your lips. You supposed being asleep instead of writhing around on the bed with itchy rope is better, so you take it into your mouth.
Moon's fingers linger on your lips for a moment before retracting. His hands rub up and down your arms. "Good girl. Nighty-night..." Your eyes droop and Moon watches you fall into a deep slumber.
His extra potent candies he made just for you seem to work exactly as he wanted. His hands keep roaming your arms as you rest. Though, he supposes he should get back to the children. He's been absent long enough.
With a sigh, Moon gets up and quickly ties a rope to one of your ankles before securing it tightly to a bed post.
