Castaway

♒︎

Flying across the oceans and the seven seas I found
A tiny island just waiting to be a home,
And as I was falling swiftly to the ground,
I could see the vast blue, feel the sea foam.

Large grains of sand held me before the waves could;
Its shores unspoken, its silence profound,
With a blanket of waves and a pillow of wood,
Startling me, when in the wind I hear a sound.

I scurry into the shore, fearing the approaching storm,
The sky a twisting canvas of shadow and rage,
The trees, it's majestic leaves, curtain my entire form,
But I realize - oh, all these glistening leaves, are but a golden cage.

Under the glassy canopy, I peek at the hurricane grow.
In the shadows of the tree, I quiver and shiver,
Head bowed under prayers, the gales turn slow.
I wait for the storm to pass, for the calm to deliver.

Once the clouds start to scatter, I hug the trees teary-eyed,
But the island whispers, "Be strong; do not weep.
I am grateful to you for trusting my lands and pride,
For this faith you've shown in me is a giant leap."

Astonished I reply, "I suppose you are my peace now,"
I stand firm, the island's strength taking root in my soul,
Circling my bare feet on the mud like an untold vow
In the island, is a new home, where I am whole.

Hey guys, I wonder if you're all still here :') Been so long hasn't it. I am also updating this book after long. Irrespective of the order in this book, I would like to say that this is the 100th poem I've published here!

This is a poem a really close friend of mine from college wrote with me. She's one of the most headstrong and coolest people I've ever met, and I'm glad I was able to write a poem that reflected a common side of both of us, which is, turbulent but hopeful to say the least.

Happy reading :)
