A Cloud Watching
___
Her short hair waves caress her neck
And hide the freckles spattered there,
In her brown eyes I slowly drift,
Into a feeling I wouldn't share.
"You look so pretty," I tell her
And she smiles at me with dimples drawn,
I lean in gently and smile back,
But go back immediately forlorn.
"She'll never like you back," I remind
My little heart wandering away
To all the right and left turns seen,
As I stare at her walking straight.
Like a cloud watching the rain
Shoot down and melt into a stream,
I hope to fall on her skin and dance
In a not so faraway fever dream.
