Whispers
~Ariel's Point of View~
I open my eyes and I see a blinding light. I quickly close them.
"Turn the lights off, it must be too bright for her," I hear a feminine voice call out. I risk opening my eyes once again and this time there is a dull light in the background with several unfamiliar faces all around me. I jump back scared of who they are. Unsure of if they are human or demon. After a moment I relax, I'm sure Castiel wouldn't let me in an area with demons all around.
"Whe...Where am I," I ask my voice scratchy from disuse and dryness.
"You are at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I'm Ashley I'm your nurse. You were in an accident with your brothers and dad. Your oldest brother seemed to get the worse amount of damage, with you being a close second. You've been in a coma for 2 days. I'll got get you some water, your throat must be very dry," she tells me before she starts to walk away. Before she can leave my bed, I reach out and grab her arm.
"I want my dad and brothers, please," I rasp out.
"I'll go get them, your other brother is in the bed beside you still in a coma," she tells me before leaving the room. I look around the big room and notice Dean hooked up to several machines. I sigh in defeat, this isn't good, the machines seem to be breathing for him, and he's getting fluids via IV. He must be extremely bad off.
I hear the door open and in walks back Ashley, with two others behind her. I sit up and smile at the two familiar faces coming into the room.
'I think we will be okay after all' I think over to Sam knowing he must have been worried.
Dad is in a wheel chair being pushed by Sam. Sam brings him over to my bed. Dad gets up and sits beside me. He then almost instantly is wrapping his arms around me and placing several kisses on my head and I can feel several tears drop on to my gown letting me know he was scared that I wouldn't make it. He lets me go after several moments and stays in his spot on the bed. I then look over at Sam and pat the other side of my bed for him to join us. He shakes his head smiling over at me before joining me on the bed and wrapping his arms around me squeezing the life back out of me.
"Sam, don't cry. I'm okay now, and I have no plans of leaving you anytime soon. You're stuck with me for life," I whisper in his ear before gripping him tighter.
Then just like all happy moments we have with the family its interrupted by a dark sound coming over from Dean's bed.
People run into the room and being working on my oldest brother, before they close the curtain between us and Dean.
"All clear" we hear the doctor yell. Sam hugs me tight as I hear a thump coming from behind the curtain. I start crying into Sam's chest and start to pray for Dean to make it. Hoping that either god or Castiel can hear my prayers.
"Still no pulse," I hear a nurse state.
"Okay, let's go again, 360," the doctor yells again.
"Charging," the nurse responds.
Suddenly I feel a presence coming from behind us. Unable to move and look over at the presence I just hug Sam tighter hoping that they presence is there to help, not hurt. Suddenly the monitors slow, before going quiet.
"We have a pulse. We're back into sinus rhythm," I hear a nurse tell at the doctor. Sam lets go of me and I look back over to where the curtain is.
The doctor comes around and notices us.
"He's okay, for now. Though I am not sure as to how much longer. I will want Ariel to be moved over to another room now that she is no longer in critical condition," the doctor tells us.
"Thank you doctor," Dad tells the man before nodding.
After several moments I'm moved to my own room and Dad and Sam are sitting nearby keeping a close eye on me. Sam and I start to tell dad what we felt when Dean was coding.
"What do you mean, you felt something," dad questions.
"I mean it felt like, like Dean. Like he was there, just out of eyeshot or something. I don't know if it's my psychic thing or what, it... But do you think it's even possible? I mean, do you think his spirit could be around," Sam tells him. I nod in agreeance.
"Anything's possible," dad tells us.
"Well, there's one way to find out," I ask. Sam gets up and starts to make his way to the door.
"Where are you going," dad questions.
"I gotta pick something up. I'll be back," he tells dad leaving us in the dark as to what it is.
"Wait, Sam. I promise I won't hunt this demon. Not until we know Dean's okay," dad tells Sam. Sam nods, leaves.
After a while dad is brought back to his room as they needed to check on him for rounds. My nurse comes in, Zoey, I think she said. She takes my vitals and askes my about my pain. To be honest I was feeling it but it wasn't so bad that I would need medication at this time. I told her this and she looked at me with concern. She asked if I was sure before I told her I was. I saw her document my denial in my chart, then she told me that if I need the medication I would just have to call for it. I nodded my head at her to let her know I heard her. After she left I took the time alone to rest.
"Ariel.....Ariel....Ariel. Come on Ariel wake up its important," I heard while been shaken awake. I open my eyes and see my twin standing over me.
"What's going on," I ask rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
"We need to get to Dean's room, I'll explain more in there," he tells me. I nod my head in agreeance.
"Can we wait a bit, my body is starting to hurt, think you can push the call button, and tell my nurse," I tell him with pleading eyes. He nods at me with puppy dog eyes. My nurse comes in a few moments later with her cart.
"How are we feeling," she asked me.
"I'm starting to feel like I was hit by an 18-wheeler," I tell her, "My pain right now is moderate, so about a 7. I would say tolerable, but I have a feeling that it's going to get worse as I start to wake up and move it will hurt more".
"Okay well I have some pain medication here for you," she tells me.
"What is it if you don't mind me asking,"
"It's Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen,"
"What's the strength," I ask.
"Ariel, stop being a nurse and be the patient," Sam cuts in, "Or she will begin to think you are a pill seeker".
I glare over at him knowing he is right. The nurse laughs at our antics.
"Sorry, I'll take it," I tell the nurse still glaring at my twin.
"It's okay, I would do the same thing if I was in your position," she tells me with a smile. She hands me the pill and a cup of water. I take both and thank her for bringing it to me. She smiles and walks out of the room telling me to call her if I need to.
"Okay, help me get into the wheelchair, I would do it myself, but I am kind of handicap at this moment," I tell him with a goofy smile pointing out my two casts.
After I'm transferred to the wheelchair Sam pushes me to Dean's room, before going to Dad's room to get dad.
"Hey Deano, you're giving us a big scare you know that," I tell his body rolling over to my brother's bed side.
"I don't mean to Airy," I hear a whisper. I smile and shake my head at the words.
"I know, still pretty scary though," I tell him again.
"I kn.......wait you can hear me," I hear a voice whisper loudly.
"I can, but it's more like a whisper, not your actual voice. I guess it's a part of my powers. I've always been different, just never knew by how much," I tell him. Sam returns carrying dad's journal. He sits on the edge of Dean's bed. On the other side of my chair.
"Hey. So Dad wasn't in his room," he tells us.
"Where is he, " me and the whisper question.
"I don't know, but I got Dad's journal, so who knows? Maybe there's something here," he tells us.
Sam flips open the journal and leafs through it, glancing up at Dean's unconscious form occasionally.
"Thanks for not giving up on me, Sammy," I hear the whisper again.
Sam turns to a page that says "Reapers".
"Son of a bitch," I hear the whisper state a little louder. Sam continues to read out loud this time what the passage says. After reading Sam gets up and stands on the window side of Dean's bed, hands in his pockets.
"Dean, are you here? I couldn't find anything in the book. I don't know how to help you. But I'll keep trying, all right? As long as you keep fighting. I mean, come on you can't, you can't leave me here alone with Dad. We'll kill each other, you know that, "Sam pauses, "Dean, you gotta hold on. You can't go, man, not now. We were just starting to be brothers again. Can you hear me".
After several moments Sam joins me back near the bed. Suddenly Dean starts gasping and choking on the tube in his throat.
"Dean," I question, "Sam go call the nurses".
Sam nods getting up and going into the hallway.
"Help! I need help," he screams running out of the room.
