They Are Fighting Tooth and Nail and You Don't Care
Sam's Point of View
I walk into my dad's room. He his lying in a hospital bed, his arm in a sling. Awkwardly one-handed, he pulls something out of his wallet.
"Here. Give them my insurance," he tells me handing me the card. I smile as I look it over.
"Elroy McGillicutty," I question?
"And his two loving sons, and daughter. So, what else did the doctor say about Dean," he asks with hope in his eyes.
"Nothing. Look. The doctors won't do anything, then we'll have to, that's all. I don't know, I'll find some hoodoo priest and lay some mojo on him," I tell him.
"We'll look for someone., but I don't know if we're gonna find anyone," he tells me.
"Why not? I found that faith healer before,"
"All right, that was, that was one in a million,"
"So, what? Do we just sit here with our thumbs up our ass," I ask getting annoyed?
"No, I said we'd look. All right? I'll check under every stone," he tells me ending this conversation, "How is Ariel,"
"She's in better condition than Dean, but she is still pretty banged up. She has a higher chance of making it. At least, that is what the doctor told me," I told him.
"Well that a positive," he tells me letting out the breath I didn't know he was holding in, "Where's the Colt".
"Your children are dying, and you're worried about the Colt," I ask him in disbelief. His little solider and daddy's little girl are on death's door and he could care less.
"We're hunting this demon, and maybe it's hunting us too. That gun may be our only card," he tells me trying to justify his question.
"It's in the trunk. They dragged the car to a yard off of I-83," I tell him scoffing at him.
"All right. You've gotta clean out that trunk before some junk man sees what's inside," he tells me. I shake my head at him.
"I already called Bobby. He's like an hour out, he's gonna tow the Impala back to his place," I tell him hoping that with the little bit of news he will be more concerned with his children's lives.
"All right. You, you go meet up with Bobby. You get that Colt, and you bring it back to me. And you watch out for hospital security," he tells me.
"I think I've got it covered," I tell him rolling my eyes at his antics. I get up to leave; dad stops me, picking up a sheet of paper.
"Hey. Here. I made a list of things I need, have Bobby pick them up for me," he tells me handing me the list. I read over it and notice several things I don't know about.
"Acacia? Oil of Abramelin? What's this stuff for," I ask in confusion.
"Protection," he tells me.
"Hey, Dad? You know, the demon, he said he had plans for Ariel and me, and children like us. Do you have any idea what he meant by that," I ask him hoping he had some answers?
"No, I don't," he tells me. I walk out the room and head to Bobby's.
When I get to Bobby's, I update him on everyone, then we walk out to the yard where the Impala sits mangled and destroyed. Dean will be pissed.
"Oh man, Dean is gonna be pissed," I tell him looking upset about the issue.
"Look, Sam. This... this just ain't worth a tow. I say we empty the trunk, sell the rest for scrap," Bobby tells me trying to convince me that it was the better option.
"No. Dean would kill me if we did that. When he gets better he's gonna want to fix this," I tell Bobby. Hoping that it is the truth.
"There's nothing to fix. The frame's a pretzel, and the engine's ruined. There's barely any parts worth salvaging," he tells me. Trying to make sense of everything.
"Listen to me, Bobby. If there's only one working part, that's enough. We're not just going to give up on..," I tell him hoping that with the car being able to be fixed as will Dean.
"Okay. You got it," he tells me quietly shaking his head understanding my thoughts.
"Here, uh, Dad asked for you to get this stuff for him," I tell him handing over the list. He looks over it and starts to frown.
"What's John want with this," he asks me.
"Protection from the demon," I tell him. Bobby gives me a look, "What".
"Oh, nothing, it's just, uh --," he tells me pausing in his thoughts.
"Bobby? What's going on," I ask Bobby hoping he will give me the answers I'm looking for without a lie.
After getting the answers I was looking for I storm back to the hospital and go into Dad's room with the duffle bag of items he was wanting.
"You're quiet," he tells me. I turn towards him fuming and hurl the bag onto the bed with a crash.
"Did you think I wouldn't find out," I ask him in anger.
"What are you talking about," he asks me in confusion.
"That stuff from Bobby, you don't use it to ward off a demon, you use it to summon one. You're planning on bringing the demon here, aren't you? Having some stupid macho showdown," I ask him in disbelief. His other kids are fighting for their lives and he is worried about destroying the demon that killed mom.
"I have a plan, Sam," He tells me.
"That's exactly my point! Dean is dying, Ariel is in coma, and you have a plan! You know what, you care more about killing this demon than you do saving your own children. They are fighting tooth and nail to come back, and you are more worried about this damn Demon," I tell at him.
"Do not tell me how I feel! I am doing this for them," he tells me. I scoff at the idea.
"How? How is revenge going to help them? You're not thinking about anybody but yourself, it's the same selfish obsession," I tell him.
"You know, it's funny, I thought it was your obsession too! This demon killed your mother, killed your girlfriend. You begged me to be part of this hunt. Now if you'd killed that damn thing when you had the chance, none of this would have happened," Dad yells back at him.
"It was possessing you, Dad, I would have killed you too," I tell him in disbelief thinking his life means nothing to me.
"Yeah, and your brother and sister would be awake right now," he tells me throwing their injuries in my face.
"Go to hell," I yell at him.
"I should have never taken you along in the first place. I knew it was a mistake, I knew I was wrong —," he tells me before a glass of water off the table and it goes flying, crashing to the floor. Dad and I look at each other, confused.
Then suddenly nurses and doctors start running by in the hallway.
