On the Road to Truth
Dear Diary,
We found dad, well he found us. He saved us as well. Then he had to leave, and I had to get 2 sets of stitches and drink a lot of whiskey. Since then we have been back on the road and had to once again deal with an angry spirit. I hope one day we can meet up with Dad again. Maybe one day soon. Well I got to go Sam needs his laptop and I need a possible meal.
Thanks for being there.

p.s. SAM KEEP OUT OF THIS!!!!
~Café in somewhere Nebraska~
The three of us are sitting at a table, I'm sitting next to Sam and slide down the laptop. Dean sits across from us and is flipping through.
Dean starts to get bored and folds up the paper.
"Well dude. Not a decent lead in all of Nebraska. What've you got," Dean asks.
"Well, I've been scanning Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota. Here. A woman in Iowa fell 10,000 feet from an airplane and survived," Sam tells us.
"Come on Dean, a break won't kill us," I tell him.
"We got a lot of work to do Ariel, and you know that," Sam fusses me. I roll my eyes. A day at a pool in Florida sounds nice. Maybe even a good-looking man and a quiet room. I can dream can't I.
"Yeah Sam is right. Find anything," Dean says.
"Ahh, man in Colorado, local man named Daniel Elkins, was found mauled in his home," Sam tells us. A slight moment of recognition crosses my mind as I try to recall why. Didn't dad know an Elkins.....hmm. BINGO.
"Ouch Ariel not to loud," Sam tells me holding his head wincing.
"Oh sorry, but I figured it out," I grab out dad's journal scanning several pages before spotting to point a the name, "There, check it out".
I hand the journal to Dean and point. 'D Elkins 970-555-0158' Daniel Elkins.
"You think it's the same Elkins," Dean asks.
"It's a Colorado area code," Sam tells him.
After eating our meal, we back up and hit the road. Driving past several snow-capped mountains in the background. Finally, after being cramped in the car for another 6 hours we arrive at Elkins Cabin.
I grab a flash light from the truck while Sam grabs his lock pick from the dash. I walk with Sam to the front door and shine the light so that he can see the lock and get us in. The door opens slowly causing Sam to put away his lock pick, while Dean and I shine our lights around the mess of a house.
"Looks like the maid didn't come today," Dean says with a slight sense of humor.
"Hey, there's salt over here. Right beside the door," I tell him.
"You mean protection against demon salt, or 'oops I spilled the popcorn' salt," Dean asks.
"It's clearly a ring. You think this guy Elkins was a player," Sam chimes in.
"Definitely," Dean tells us. Sam and I walk up beside Dean and notice he has a journal very similar to dad's.
"That looks a hell of a lot like Dad's," Sam notes.
"Yep, except this thing dates back to the 60s," Dean tells him.
Walking more into the house al split up. I go into what once seemed like a kitchen dinning area while the other two walked into other rooms.
After our search of the house we meet back up in the main room.
"Well whatever attacked him it looked like more than one," Sam tells me.
"So, what are we thinking," I ask with a confused look on my face.
"Don't know yet, but he left us a breadcrumb trail to a mail drop," Dean tells me while holding up a sheet of paper.
"Well, Hanzel lets go," I tell him shaking my head.
After we leave the house and we go to the Post Office Sam and Dean go in to grab the letter. Then being the two idjits that they are they decide it is best for us to remain in said parking lot.
"J.W.' You think? John Winchester," Sam asks.
"I don't know. Should we even open it. You remember what dad was like when we opened his mail," I tell Sam with a shrug.
Suddenly there is a knock-on Dean's window. Causing me to yelp in Sam's ear and Dean gasping and raising his arm, fist clenched, to stuff it in his mouth to stop himself from screaming.
I look and see the one person I didn't think I'd be seeing soon. 'Dad' When dad sees he has scared us he smiles, and chuckles. Then he climbs into the backseat and sits next to me.
"Dad, what are you doing here? Are you all right," Sam asks ruining my happy reunion.
"Yeah, I'm ok. I read the news about Daniel, I got here as fast as I could. I saw you two at his place, I did not come in because I had to make sure you weren't followed.... by anyone or anything. Nice job of covering your tracks by the way," he tells my twin.
Dean being to look to pleased with himself so rather than let him blow smoke up dad's butt I'd rather cut in.
"Wait, you know this Elkins guy," I ask dad.
"Yeah. He was... he was a good man. He taught me a hell of a lot about hunting," he tells me.
"Well you never mentioned him to us," Sam questions.
"We had a... we had kind of a falling out. I hadn't seen him in years," dad gestures to the envelope with his name on it, "I should look at that. 'If you're reading this, I'm already dead'... that son of a bitch. Did you three see a gun, kind of antique Colt revolver," he says.
"Ah, there was, there was an old case but it was empty," Dean tells dad.
"They have it," dad tells us with a solemn look upon his face.
"I have a feeling we are about to be in way over our heads," I tell my family, "I mean what kind of creatures hunt like that".
"Well let's find out," Dad tells us.
"Wait. You want us to come with you," I ask.
"If Elkins was telling the truth, we gotta find this gun," he tells me.
"The gun – why," Sammy asks.
"Because it's important, that's why," dad tells us.
"Dad, we don't even know what these things are yet," I tell him.
"They were what Daniel Elkins killed best: Vampires," he tells us. A look of confusion crosses all of our faces.
"Vampires? I thought there was no such thing," Dean tells Dad.
"You never even mentioned them, Dad," Sam and I say in unison.
"I thought they were extinct. I thought Elkins and -- and others had wiped them out. I was wrong," he tells us before going into detail about the Vampires and their weaknesses.
