Fighting with Our Last Breaths Part 1

After several hours of being on the road we finally arrived at the junkyard, also known as Bobby's house.

Sam knocks on the door we were all too familiar with. Bobby opens the door and a look of shock crosses his face as he stares at Sam and I.

Something isn't adding up here. My thoughts were interrupted by Dean and Sam's voice. When I look up I realize that everyone is looking at me as if waiting for me to speak.

"Sorry, did I miss something," I questioned.

"No, Ariel. Is everything okay," Bobby questioned.

"Yeah. Sorry I was lost within my mind," I replied looking back up at him with a smile, "Are you going to invite us in?"

"Yeah, come in," Bobby says moving away from the door letting us pass into the house.

"Oh Bobby. (pause) Thanks for patching us up," Sam says as he pats Bobby on the shoulder walking past him.

"Yes, thank you Bobby. I know it couldn't have been easy," I tell him as I hug him.

"Don't mention it," Bobby tells us, hugging me back. His voice however didn't seem to fit his statement. I'll have to do more digging later to see what really happened. The tension between Dean and Bobby was thick, and I could tell Sam had noticed it as well.

"Well, I found something. But I'm not sure what the hell it means," Bobby tells us.

"What is it," Sam and I question at the same time. We all enter the office where Bobby has a map against the wall.

"Demonic omens... like a frickin' tidal wave. Cattle deaths. Lightning storms. They skyrocketed from out of nowhere. Here," Bobby points to Wyoming on a map, "All around here, except for one place... Southern Wyoming."

"Wyoming," Dean questions, confused as the rest of us.

"Yeah. That one area's totally clean – spotless. It's almost as if," Bobby pauses.

"As if what," I question.

"The demons are surrounding it," Bobby replies.

"But you don't know why," Dean asks.

"No, and by this point my eyes are swimming. Sam, would you take a look at it? Maybe you could catch something I couldn't," Bobby asks my twin.

"Yeah, sure," Sam answers without a beat.

"Ariel, can you look with Sam. Two heads are better than one, even if they share a brain one day. Come on, Dean. I got some more books in the truck. Help me lug 'em in," Bobby says walking out the room.

Sam and I share a look as we watch Dean walk out following Bobby outside.

"They're hiding something," I say.

"Yeah, but what," Sam asks.

"It has to be about what really happened back in that town. Sam I could have sworn I actually died. I remember feeling the pain, the ax entering my chest, and my heart rate slowing down. I felt my body getting cold," I told Sam.

"I know what you mean, and I remember feeling your body going cold. I remember your breathing stop, and the blood pouring out of your body. Ariel I would have sworn you died right then and there, I didn't think I would see you standing next to me again. I couldn't even hear your thoughts anymore," Sam tells me walking away from the map and wrapping his arms around me. I could feel the tears coming from his eyes and hitting my head, just as well as I could feel my tears pouring into his shirt.

"Ariel, no matter what. We will make it out of this okay. We are Winchesters, we will always win. Because we have each other and Dean," Sam tells me squeezing me tighter.

"You're right, we can do this," I tell him moving away from him, " Now let's get back to work and stopping that yellow-eyed bastard."

~~Third person~~

Dean and Bobby walk in the junkyard. Bobby stops and turns to face Dean.

"You stupid ass! What did you do? What did you do?! You made a deal... For Sam and Ariel, didn't you? How long did they give you," Bobby asks.

"How long," Bobby questioned ignoring Dean.

"One year," Dean confesses.

"Damn it, Dean," Bobby curses and turns away from the younger man.

"Which is why we gotta find this yellow-eyed son of a bitch. That's why I'm gonna kill him myself. I mean, I got nothing to lose now, right," Dean tries to joke.

"I could throttle you," Bobby tells him, grabbing on to Dean's collar, with his fist ready to punch his lights out.

"What, and send me downstairs ahead of schedule," Dean jokes again. Bobby lets go of his shirt.

"What is it with you Winchesters, huh? You, your dad. You're both just itching to throw yourselves down the pit," Bobby questions.

"That's my point. Dad brought me back, Bobby. I'm not even supposed to be here. At least this way, something good could come out of it, you know? I--I--It's like my life could mean something," Dean asked.

"What? And it didn't before?! Have you got that low of an opinion of yourself? Are you that screwed in the head?!," Bobby asks, grabbing on to Dean again.

"I couldn't let them die, Bobby. I couldn't. They are my younger siblings, my brother and baby sister," Dean says choking on his words.

"How are your siblings gonna feel when they know you're going to hell? How'd you feel when you knew your dad went for you?," Bobby asks Dean hoping that this would make him see the other side of this issue. Bobby knows how much he loves the twins, and how much they love him. They would go to hell for each other and heck Dean is actually going to hell for them. He knows that Sam and Ariel when they find out they are going to do everything and anything to stop him from going down the pits. Even if it means destroying themselves.

"You can't tell them. You take a shot at me, whatever you got to do, but please don't tell them," Dean begs. Bobby starts crying and grabs onto Dean's chin. Suddenly there is a clank from a distant part of the junkyard. Bobby and Dean crawl to the side of a car, and grab the intruder. Once they have her by the shoulders, they recognize the woman in their arms, Ellen.

"Ellen," Dean questioned the woman in their arms. She nods, starting to cry, "Ellen. Oh, God."

Dean wraps his arms around her and begins crying into her shoulder.

The three walk into the house, and sit down at the table.

~Ariel's POV~

I walk into the kitchen with Sam, and I see Bobby and the back of a woman sitting at a table. She takes a shot of clear liquid.

"Whiskey now, if you don't mind," I heard her say. Ellen.

"Ellen," I call out. She turns in her chair and looks at me. I rush over to her and wrap my arms around her as she stands and wraps her arms around me. I squeeze her tight, not believing I was truly wrapping my arms around her.

"Ellen, what happened? How'd you get out," Dean questioned breaking the moment. Ellen pulled back and sat back down in her chair.

"I wasn't supposed to. I was supposed to be in there with everybody else," she scoffed, "But we ran out of pretzels, of all things. It was just dumb luck," She drinks the whiskey BOBBY poured for her and exhales sharply, "Anyway, that's when Ash called. Panic in his voice. He told me to look in the safe. Then the call cut out. By the time I got back, the flames were sky-high. And everybody was dead. I couldn't have been gone more than fifteen minutes," Ellen explains.

"Sorry, Ellen," Sam says.

"A lot of good people died in there. And I got to live," she scoffed, "Lucky me."

"Ellen, you mentioned a safe," Bobby said.

"A hidden safe we keep in the basement," She explained.

"Demons get what was in it," he asked.

"No" She replied before she pulls out a map from her pocket, unfolding it and setting it down on the table. It has several black lines and X's on it.

"Wyoming. What does that mean," Dean asks, pointing to the lines.

We all get up and go back into the office. Bobby is reading from a large book

"I don't believe it.," he says, placing the book on the table.

"What? You got something," Sam and I ask at the same time.

"Ugh, I hate when you two do that," Dean states, his body shuttering in disgust.

"Dean not the time," Sam says, using his hand to point at him for added flair.

"A lot more than that. Each of these X's," Bobby explains, as he points to the marks on the map, "Is an abandoned frontier church— all mid-19th century. And all of them built by Samuel Colt."

"Samuel Colt— the demon-killing, gunmaking Samuel Colt," Dean questions.

"Yep. And there's more. He built private railway lines," Bobby explains further, as he points to the black lines on the map, "connecting church to church. It just happens to lay out like this."

He connects the points on the map until the shape of a star is made.

"Is that what I think it is," I question, looking over at my twin thinking the same thing.

"Yes Ariel it is. It's a Devil's Trap. A 100-square mile Devil's Trap," Sam says just as amazed as I was.

"That's brilliant. Iron lines demons can't cross," Dean exclaims.

"I've never heard of anything that massive," Ellen states.

"No one has," Bobby explains.

"And after all these years none of the lines are broken? I mean, it still works," Dean questions.

"Definitely," Sam states.

"How do you know," Dean questions again.

"Is anyone not worried about what it may be keeping out or in and or why," I questioned, but it seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.

"All those omens Bobby found. I mean the demons, they must be circling and they can't get in," Sam ponders loudly.

"Yes, but shouldn't we be concerned about what's inside," I question again this time everyone stops and looks at me.

"That's what I've been looking for. And, uh, there's nothing except an old cowboy cemetery right in the middle," Dean explains looking over at me.

"Well what's so important about a cemetery or... what's Colt trying to protect," Sam questions.

"I don't think he's trying to protect something. I think he's trying to keep something in," I state.

"Now that's a comforting thought," Ellen states, not entirely happy at the thought.

"Yeah, you think," Dean questions sarcastically.

"Could they do it, Bobby? Could they get inside," Sam asks. We all look around worried about the answer.

"This thing's so powerful, you'd practically need an A-bomb to destroy it. No way a full-blood demon gets across," Bobby states.

"No," I state.

"But Ariel and I know who could," Sam finishes.
