Esme's P.O.V.:

Cody had asked me to meet him after school. For what, I didn't really know but I'm sure it's nothing. Right now I'm walking into the diner he said he wanted to meet at. As I walk in, I look around for the ashy blonde haired boy, smiling as I saw him I walked over sitting in the booth opposite him. My smile immediately dropped when I saw that he wasn't his usual smiling Cody self"Hey, Cody what's wrong?"I said in a gentle and concerned tone as my best friend looked up at me. With a quiet sniffle he let out a soft sigh running a hand through his hair"My mom called me...she got the job in California"he said looking down. Of course I knew what that meant, he had said a few months ago that his mom was applying for jobs, and of course she gets one all away across the god damn country"Wait...really? That's so far!"I said on the verge of tears as I looked over at him who seemed to be close to crying as well. He let out a soft sigh and stood up sitting next to me, pulling me in a tight hug. In response I wrapped my arms around his neck, burying my face in his shoulder. He brought his arms around my waist"I know I know I'm sorry. They literally didn't give us any time to pack or let me say goodbye to anyone"I furrowed my eyebrows"Wait...when are you leaving?"I asked him afraid of the answer, especially more when I saw his reaction"Early tomorrow morning..."he mumbled biting his lip"What!? That's not fair"I said, a crack evident in my voice"I know I know I'm sorry please don't cry"he said soothingly rubbing my back"I promise, we will see eachother again I swear"he said smiling a small, sad smile. I just sighed and nodded slightly"Okay..."
