As they walk in the hallway, they soon arrived at the room where the young patient was resting. She looks to be in her twenties, redhead. Her clothes were aside neat and clean.

One of the nurses gives a tablet to Mayor Rose before leaves. Once they are alone, she shows them What's on the tablet.

"When I checked her Beast Factor I find something unusual." Mayor Rose said as she shows two different samples. "This is what normal Beast factor looks on wolf Beastman..."

"So, she is a wolf Beastman." Shirou answers.

"At first I thought the same." Mayor Rose cleared. "But on hers... see the difference?" In the tablet, other samples looked almost the same, but on a few sections looked different.

"Are you saying she isn't normal Beastman?" Michiru asked.

"That's what I was concerned about. Like I told you, normally when two different species of beastman couples get a child, the child will be either one of the two, not mixed."

"You think she is?" Shirou asked.

"If so, she could be first of her kind, but I can't be certain. It will take longer to study her Beast Factor to say for certain." Mayor Rose told.

"What for you asked me?" Shirou asked.

"I was hoping you could identify by her smell. Your smell is better than anyone else's. There's of course possible it's faint because the ocean water, but it's worth trying."

"What if it doesn't work?" Michiru asked.

"Then we wait for her to wake up." Mayor Rose explained and gives a transparent plastic bag to Shirou. "Besides her clothes, this was the only thing she has." In plastic bag the was pendant with small long golden chain shape of a heart in the middle. Middle of the heart was small white crystal-like rock. At first, you may think it's diamond, but it's too blurry to be one.

As Shirou takes out the pendant, the golden chain feel neat, the heart base feels as it should, while the crystal feels more like a spa rock. He transformed into his beast form before brings it close to his nose and takes good sniff of it. As he closes his eyes, like with Michiru, he manages to sense the young woman's past.

It looks like she had a loving family. Wait a minute... those smells they are familiar... But it's not possible... that was...

He opens his eyes and looks at the pendant.

"Shirou?"

"Ogami?"

He didn't answer as he remained looking at the pendant. After realizing where he was he cleared his throat before asked. "I need some privacy. The smell is faint that I need to focus."

Both mayor and Michiru could tell he was making up the excuse, but they let him stay as they left the room to the hallway.

"You think he recognized something?" Michiru asked.

"It could be possible." Mayor Rose answered. "But it's possible that it's something from his past, which he hasn't told anyone."

"Not even you?" Michiru wondered.

"I only know how he became Ginrou and why he dislikes humans. I never asked more about his past. Since he has lived over a thousand years he obviously has seen many comrades pass away, while he lives on."

Michiru remained quiet on that. She hasn't thought of that yet, but it obviously was going to pop up sooner or later. The price of immortality is to see others die while you continue living. Maybe that's one of the reasons why Shirou is... well, Shirou.

Meanwhile, in the room, Shirou looked at the sleeping beauty, while hold on her pendant. He did recognize those smells, but this is something that happened a very long time. In fact, over a thousand years ago, in his hometown, Nirvasyl. But they should be dead by now. But it is really their scent. His nose could tell the difference between them and their descendants, but this scent... is if they have survived over thousands of years and that... this woman is their... daughter.

But as he recalls what Mayor told about her Beast factor, it brings up the memory of his past.

"Why you have scales under your fur?"

"You know, that beastman can either be one certain species, right?"

"Yes..."

"Well, I was cursed."

"Why?"

"Because they wanted to turn me into a monster, but it only turned me into... well, this"

"Why? Who did it? Was it a human?"

"No, he isn't a human, nor beastman. He is..."

As those, words echoed in his mind, Shirou places the pendant on the night table, before opens the door to let Michiru and Mayor in.

"So, did you find out some...?" Mayor asked.

"Can she come to stay with us in Beastman Co-op?" Shirou asks directly.

This leaves both of them surprised, but Mayor accepts without a problem.

"Once she wakes up and final check, she can go with you."

"I'll wait, then."

"Eeh?" Michiru wonders. This is definitely new. Since when he cares somebody... unless it like mayor guess that woman is related to someone he knew once.

Since the patient was still resting, Shirou and Michiru were in the waiting room, until Mayor informs when she wakes up. Michiru had a cup of coffee to stay awake. Shirou had his own, but he hasn't taken one sip. Michiru wasn't sure should she ask, but she really wanted to help and for that, she needs to know. But how to ask it? Should she just ask directly or approach slowly? What to do? What to do?

"Just spit it out."

"Huh?"

"You obviously want to ask something, just say it" Shirou cleared. Michiru took a deep breath before asked.

"Did you recognize her? I mean it seemed like you recognize something."

"I recognize the scent of her parents," Shirou answered.

"Her parents? Was one of them..."

"Her father was a mixed species, but it wasn't because of birth. He was... transformed into that."

"By humans?"

"No. He said it wasn't a human who did it to him. Besides, back then humans didn't know experiment like that."

"Huh?"

Back then? When did they meet?

"What concerns me is that I met them a very long time ago."

"How long we are talking about?"

"Over a thousand years..."

"EEEH!!!" Michiru had to cover her mouth, realizing that she shouted. "As in back in Nirvasyl?"

"Last time I saw them was month before Nirvasyl syndrome appeared the first time. They left the city."

"So, they didn't die back then..."

"Still, it happened a long time ago. I shouldn't be able to pick up their scent anymore."

"But since you did, you mean..."

"Their scent is all over her. Which means they are alive. How they have survived till now, I don't know. But knowing them, they wouldn't kill a thousand beastman to gain immortality."

"How come?"

"'If that's the prize of immortality, I rather stay mortal and live it wisely.' that how he said. Both of them values life."

"They sound good."

"They are. Let's see if the daughter is the same..."

"You can go find out yourself." Mayor Rose said. "She's awake."
