Whistles and Gun...
Kongpob gasped and choked. Coughing, coming to his senses. He opened his eyes and groaned shutting back, as the bright lights hit his eyes. And his head throbbed.
"Rise and shine, sunshine..."
Kongpob heard a familiar voice. He blinked, adjusting to the sight. As he slowly looked over his lashes. Feeling his blood running hot instantly. Facing a grinning David Chanthara.
Kong looked around. It seemed like he was in a brightly lit panic room. He tried moving his arms. And frowned, looking down. He was tied in a chair. Kong sighed, leaning against the chair. He was totally wet, with the water that was splashed on him.
"You really didn't expect to be a free man. Did you?"
Kongpob didn't react. He analysed the room again. David was sitting over a white couch, just opposite of him. Robby standing just behind. The only way out was behind Robby. And there was a LED on the wall opposite. With surveillance cam feed recordings displayed.
Kong calculated the men that he could see through the cameras. It's going to be a hassle, going out.
His head snapped the other side with a hit that fell on his face. Kong clenched his jaws, glaring over his lashes at David. Who stood in front of him, with hands stuffed in his pockets.
"Don't play smug. You aren't going out of here. Alive."
Kongpob scoffed, receiving another hit. Which made him chuckle. And face David again. Who glared down.
"You killed my brother."
Kongpob didn't react. He just kept looking at David, unblinking. Who went back and sat over the couch. Facing Kongpob.
"Now..." David smiled. "Let's talk... Any questions, you wanna ask?"
What followed, was extreme silence. With David waiting to pull a reaction from the killer of his brother. And Kongpob staring blankly back.
"No?" David frowned. "Not even want to know who sold you out?"
Kongpob didn't react. He kind of knew where it was going. And he just wanted to see the end of it.
"Stay calm, P'Kong.... You need to think rationally now."
Kong heard a whisper just behind. And for some reason, Atid sounded... Kong didn't know how to put it... Strong? And that sound gave Kong a little calm. As he kept looking at David.
"Well... Since you are not interested... Let me tell you." David clapped his hands in excitement. "Atid Sutthiluk."
Kong snapped his gaze at David. Trying to pull open the restraints, holding him. Glaring.
"Ring a bell?" David smirked.
"Stay calm P'Kong. Please." Atid ordered.
Kong saw Atid kneeling besides him, looking at his face. With Atid's calming smile. Kong frowned at David, then back at Atid.
"Well then. Now that I have your much needed attention.... I would like to talk to the avenger of mankind. Reaper..."
Kong clenched his jaws.
"Did you feel good killing my brother?" David hissed.
"It was hard finding you. By the way." David continued. "Get me drink, Robby."
Kong watched, as Robby went to the corner of the room, with a table full of crystal jars. Kong looked back at David again.
"But then. Thank you, Robby." David took the glass. "Someone, who I must assume, hates you. More than myself, sent me a confidential case file. The murder case of Atid Sutthiluk."
Kong's face went blank. As he stared at David. Letting him continue. As Atid kept staring at Kong.
"Now... How can I forget that beautiful young man?" David took a sip of his drink.
Kong narrowed his gaze, his jaws set in a menacing line. Then he blinked. Watching Atid coming to his feet.
And Kong watched, as Atid smiled, coming around and sitting sideways over Kong's lap. Wrapping his arms around Kong's shoulder.
"I am here, P'Kong." Atid kissed Kong's forehead. "I'll be your strength."
Kongpob gasped, for some reason Atid looked. Alive. Like he was once. His beautiful lover. He visibly calmed down. As Atid rested his head on his shoulder.
"Stay focused. I need you to stay focused..." Atid whispered. "Okay, husband dearest?"
Kongpob opened his mouth.
"Ssshhh." Atid put a finger on Kong's lips, before he could continue. "Keep being my husband, just a little longer."
It was almost a whisper. But, Kongpob heard it loud and clear. As he let Atid, lie back on his shoulder. Hiding his face in the crook of Kong's neck. Atid felt warm.
"What are you up to?"
David's voice caught Kong's attention. He looked at David again. Who was frowning at Kong. And looking around.
Kong didn't react. As he leaned back against the chair. Tilting his head sideways, hiding Atid's face. Feeling a strangely comforting warmth. Which was unexpected for the situation.
"You are weird." David frowned. "Not that we could blame a killer."
Atid was a humming a song. He liked listening to very much. And putting Kongpob in some kind of trance. Reminding thousands of memories they spent together. Laughter and cries. Waiting up for one another. Small gestures of homely warmth. And suddenly. Nothing else mattered to Kongpob. As he spilled his tears. Trying to pull his hands again. Craving to hold Atid, one last time.
"Oh poor baby. Crying now?" David chuckled.
Kongpob faced David. With clenched jaws. And glared. Gritting his teeths.
"Finally in my grips." David sighed in contentment. "Anyways. Where was I? Yes.. the file. When I saw that face. I was lead to you."
Kongpob kept staring. Gripping the arms of the chair.
"Did Atid know you were a killer?" David tilted his head.
"Did he know, the number of people you killed with your bare hands?"
Atid kept humming.
"Well you were doing a great job. Covering your tracks. If not for your mistake of killing my only brother." David came to his feet, stepping closer to Kong. As he looked down.
"You have made a lot of enemies, young man. And he..." David pulled out his cellphone, and showed it Kongpob.
Kong clenched his jaws watching a smiling face of Arthit. He glared at David , over his lashes.
"I heard about miracles and karma. But this... This is like a three course dinner right in front of me."
Kong kept joining the missing parts, in his hands. He knew the half. Just needed the other half.
"Stop stressing up." Atid chuckled.
"How does it feel? Watching the face you love so much, crave for your death."
Kongpob gaped. And David enjoyed the look on the otherwise cold face.
"Yes... You heard me right... Arthit ratted you out... Smart man isn't he?"
Kong narrowed his gaze.
"Smart and..." David drew in a lewd hissing breath through his mouth. "So alluring... Don't you think? He even allured you to your own death. Just like a Siren."
Kong clenched his jaws. Baring his teeths in a snarl. Imagining the ways he would be ripping that skin of the body. A massacre David haven't imagined.
"Calm down."
Kong gritted his teeths, he has almost had enough. Almost.
"You must be wondering, why I am having my moment here instead of just getting this thing over with?"
"Well... I would give you the same death. The same pain. But not before giving you a show of what actually happened to your bitch."
"By initiating the same treatment on your new interest.... Beautiful man, isn't he?" David smirked. "I will avenge the poor souls, YOU killed, Kongpob Sutthiluk."
"And I will kill that guy in front of you... Just the way I ripped your little lover apart." David leaned down, holding the arms of the chair. "He thinks he is smart. But he is a fool. To have trusted me."
Atid kept being where he was, humming. And somehow, keeping down the monster that was growling inside him. And his mind straight. He stared down, and saw the end of a gun inside Chanthara's jacket.
Kong's eyes fell on the LED next. Over the opposite wall. Behind Robby. He frowned. There were six feeds in total. Three of which were already blank. And another went blank, right in front of his eyes. He frowned, feeling a tug in his heart. Then something hit him... Ofcourse.
He sighed, scoffing. Facing David, with a smirk. "You are an idiot David Chanthara."
David gaped. Finally hearing the man talk. He straightened, tilting his head with a frown, looking down at Kong.
"And I..." Kong grunted, coming to his feet, pushing himself back with force against the wall behind, smashing the chair to pieces. The arms stuck against his arms.
"Have had enough." Kong pulled away the arms, tossing them away.
David gaped.
Robby pulled out his gun, taking stance.
Atid strangely kept clinging to Kongpob. Continuing to humm. His arms around Kong's neck.
Kong felt grateful or else he would have done something, inevitable.
He raised his arms in surrender. Tilting his head at Robby. "Easy man. I am disarmed."
Robby kept his sharp eyes set on Kongpob. His gun ready. Kong sighed, shielding himself against David, and pulling out the gun from the jacket's insides. Pointing straight at David.
"Like I said." Kong shrugged, with a smirk. "You are an idiot."
"And you are so cool."
"You can't walk out of here alive." David warned. Stepping back.
"Well neither can you."
David clenched his jaws.
"Now. Sit down."
David sat back on the couch, gesturing Robby. And Robby lowered his gun. Narrowing his eyes at Kong.
"Have you ever given a thought, about how everything fell in place?" Kong smiled.
He watched another frame go blank. Now, the only feed left was displaying a corridor. Kong was having a hunch, that this corridor was leading to this panic room.
"You finding me so easily... My getting your lead right outside my doorway. Don't you think, everything was too..... How to put it?" Kong clicked his fingers, pacing around.
"Yes..." He stopped, facing Chanthara. "Don't you think, it was all very... Cliche?"
David's face went blank. And Kong smirked. Looking at realisations dawning on David.
"Yes... Get what I mean, David?" Kong raised his brows. "Seems like someone's hating both of us, more... Than ourselves."
David came to his feet instantly. Looking over in attempt of running. Kong made no attempt of stopping. And David saw the LED screen.
"Robby... What the hell is happening?" David snapped.
Robby followed his gaze and watched the video feeds going blank. He moved towards the door. Kong felt a little confronted with the thought that, they forgot he was holding a gun. But then again, he wasn't making any attempt of stopping them either.
He just kept listening to Atid humming. Ignoring the abandonment he was feeling within. With Atid's words.
Then, they saw a dark clad, hooded shadow, at the end of the bright corridor. Walking inside. And the disembodied whistling of a creepy nursery rhyme. Approaching them...
"Shit..." Robby was the first one to step back. From the door, shielding David behind.
"What's going on?" David gaped.
Robby rolled his shoulders, taking his stance, facing the gun towards the door.
"Stay back, David." Robby ordered.
"Can you hear the echo of your approaching death, David?"
David gaped at Kong, then back at Robby. Who looked tensed beyond words. Then back at Kong.
Kong raised his gun, watching the shadow almost at the end of the corridor. He aimed at Robby. David's eyes widened looking at it.
"Oh and just so you know...." Kongpob shot Robby's leg. "I am not, Reaper. By the way."
And Kong watched the big man drop with a groan. "You invited your own death David."
David's jaws dropped. He tried to take the gun falling in front of his feet. But, it got slided far, on its own. Right in front of them. While Atid was continuing his soft humms. And before David could react... The sound of whistling stopped.
Everyone waited with held breaths. Even Kongpob was a bit tensed, keeping his gun ready. The door bursted open, next.
And the three men faced a hooded dark form, wearing a tattered smiley mask, covering half his face. The only thing visible, were the hooded eyes.
The hazel pair set firmly on Kong's darker one's.
