Chapter 17 - Life Along the Nile

***

The Past.
Four Hours after being Awoken
19th December 2016.

Under the blazing sun that hung in the sky unperturbed like a celestial fireball, a group of people gallivanted. They were about twenty or less and they seemed to be in search of something. However, three of them — a man, about thirty and two women, twins, probably in their early twenties — seemed to be the actual ones doing the searching.

The man would, at the intervals of seconds, go down on his knees and put his ears to the ground as if to listen to something. His ears would pick up every single sound from afar...every bump, ripple or wave whenever he does that. He would then decipher the layers of sounds he heard. It was as if he had a psychic compass within him — feeling a magnetic pull towards the direction.

"We are close!" He announced and beckoned the twins to come closer...

Once they were standing by him, the first twin also went down on her knees and touched the sand with both hands. All the white of her eyes disappeared the second her hands touched the sand. Her eyes were now black, black as stormy darkness.

"I can see it." She said.

"Yes, we are almost there." The second twin added. She, a little bit afar from the group, had her head raised to the sky. Her eyes were closed and her arms were open wide like she was welcoming someone into her bosom but this time, it was the atmosphere she welcomed. Every single hair on her body could feel the wind and breeze of the river from where she stood.

"It is actually closer than we think," she added as she walked back to join the group.

"Follow me." The man instructed and everyone in the group did as told.

They continued trekking for some minutes before they got there.

"We found it!" one member from the group exclaimed.

In front of them, a clean blue river wound its way through the ground. Babbling and burbling, it sprung over the rocks in its way. Its mouth or tail wasn't seen. It was just vast and long. A distant thrumming sound emanated from it, like the steady rumble of a drum roll.

Birdsongs filled the sky as the sun graced the scenery with its magnificent rays.

The group jumped and squealed with joy. They were all in the river in seconds, bathing, drinking, jumping around, simply taking in the awe.

Nia Afriyie stood there and watched.

"You are in Ancient Egypt and the year is 6000 BC." Kukua began. "Those you see are the descendants of the Fallen LightBloods. They were found among the humans that had started living along the Nile's banks starting in about 6,000 B.C.E.

What you just watched was the day the Nile was discovered. For the earliest inhabitants of the Nile Valley, food was not easy to find as the place was just barren land and rugged cliffs, followed by arid desert.

Over time, however, despite being in the midst of desert surroundings, the fallen LightBloods discovered the Nile River using their Magick. Now, this gave them many sources of food. Along the river were fruit trees, and fish swam in the Nile in great numbers.

Discovering the Nile River was one and probably the only good thing the Fallen LightBloods did. The Nile river as it is known in the history of humans later became the pivot to one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever seen.

The civilization survived for nearly three thousand years until these fallen LightBloods decided to destroy what they helped build."

"...and why will they do that?" Nia Afriyie asked, very confident Kukua could hear her.

"Evil, Nia, Evil. It is evil in their hearts; a darkness, which sometimes remains concealed. Once you go dark, there's no way of returning to the light. All they need is a reason, an ambition of some sort and it is rekindled. This time, again, it was power.

They saw how great a civilization Egypt had become and they couldn't accept that they were just hem-netjer which translates as priests when they could be more — pharaohs or even gods to be worshipped perhaps. They knew the power they had and felt superior to the other Egyptians."

"Looks like history is about to repeat itself." Nia Afriyie mumbled almost to herself.

Right then, she found herself in a room. It was made of mud. The walls and ceilings were plastered and painted with patterns in bright colours. The only source of light in the room came from three pottery oil lamps that sat on some lamp holders jutting out from the walls of the room.

Two people, a man and a woman, entered the room the second Nia Afriyie got there.

The man wore a white linen cloth around his waist with white papyrus sandals. Adding to the completeness of his outfit was a leopard skin cloak he wore over his shoulders. His hair was completely shaved off, so were his eyebrows — they were shaved off.

The woman also wore a plain white gown. The gown gripped her body from the ankles to just underneath the breasts and was held up by two decorative shoulder straps. There were heavy bracelets around her arms. She wore earrings, necklaces and a neck collar. They were all made from gold or some gold looking metal by the looks of it.

They began talking the seconds after they entered the room. They were joined later by a third person, a man. He also wore a white linen cloth around his waist but looked poorer by his appearance than the first man.

"This you see is the plotting of the Harem Conspiracy." Kukua started. "The first man is a fallen LightBlood (a Dark Blood) and also a hem-netjer-tepi to the Egyptian civilization under Pharaoh Ramesses III."

"What is a-"

"-a hem-netjer-tepi is translated, the first servant of god..." Kukua cut in as if she knew the question Nia Afriyie was going to ask. "He is the head of the priestly hierarchy of the temple.

The woman is one of Pharaoh Ramesses III's secondary wives, Tiye, and the man is Pebekkamen, a worker from the Pharaoh's court.

They are planning to assassinate the Pharaoh so they can get Tiye's son, prince Pentawer onto the throne instead of the pharaoh's chosen successor, Ramesses Amun-her-khepeshef."

"Were they successful?"

"Yes, with the assassination but not the plan of making Pentawer, Pharaoh. And that was the beginning of another vile generation of DarkBloods.

From generations to generations...civilizations to civilizations, century to century, the fallen LightBloods hid in plain sight and caused havoc. Think of any war in history, any destruction in history, any at all and there is the hand of a DarkBlood in it.

Indeed, woe to the world! But the LightBloods couldn't sit and watch these DarkBloods bring destruction to the world.

That was what led to the creation of the trinity of the chosen Light Bloods."
