The Wedding ~ Chapter 42

Ana let out a shaky breath as her hands smoothed out her dress. It wasn't overly complicated, because the meta-human was half convinced she was allergic to lace, and not metaphorically. The dress was a blue that could easily be confused with white. It had a sleeveless 'Queen Anne' neckline and a 'modified A-line' skirt. Silver snowflakes were embroidered into the fabric in intricate designs.

"Fish, I wanted to thank you for helping with my dress a-and makeup."

The shorter woman tossed her protégé a smile that could almost be perceived as found. "Of course, my snow leopard. Although, I must say, I'm a bit disappointed in the...turn out."

Ana rolled her eyes. "You know Ed and I barely have any friends."

"This isn't about friends, kitten," Fish gestured around before continuing, "this is about fear and respect. You two have practically claimed this city as your own. They should be throwing themselves at your feet!"

"There'll be time for that later," Ana turned her head so Fish could see the glint in her eyes, "now I just want family and friends."

Fish let out a huff as the music started and held out her arm. "Come on then, it's time."

It didn't matter that there were only five other people there besides the happy couple and the officiator. As far as Ana was concerned, the only thing that mattered was the way Ed was beaming at her from his position at the end of the isle. After the vows and "I do's" were exchanged, the rest of the day was a colorful blur.

Ana smiled widely as she wrapped her arms around a surprisingly calm Lucious Fox. "Thank you Foxy for being our best man."

The man forced a smile. "Of course. Although it's not like I exactly had a choice." The chains tying him to a chair rattled slightly and she rolled her eyes playfully.

"Ed, darling, would you mind?"

Ed let out a small hum at his wife's voice before smiling perhaps a tad too wide. "Of course. Sorry, I wasn't sure you'd come Foxy."

The man in question seemed eager to stand up. In all honesty, the weirdest part for him was watching just how normal people who willingly called themselves Killer Frost and the Riddler could be when they were satisfied. "I would've. Congratulations, you two. Now if you'll excuse me..."

The newly wed couple laughed to themselves as they watched Lucious make a mad break for the bathroom. Ed wrapped an arm around Ana. Instinctively, she rested her head on his shoulder. "So, Mr. Nygma, how was your day?"

"Well, Mrs. Nygma, besides me getting the 'shovel talk' from well over half of our guests, it was perfect."

Ana giggled slightly. "I'm sorry about my girls, and it's DOCTOR Nygma to you, mister. Besides, I'm sure Selina just wants to make sure her new Dad doesn't hurt me."

Ed let out a groan. "I forgot. You forged paperwork to make you her mom."

Ana laughed slightly at Ed's newfound misery. "Don't worry, I bought you parenting books. Besides, it'll be good training for when this one gets older."

Ed's hands settles on her stomach as he moves so he's hugging her from behind and kissing her neck. "I feel so occupied with taking lives that I haven't had enough time to thinking about the one I've been creating. I promise I'll try to be better. For all of you."

Ana sighed as she leaned into his touch. "You know what they say, it's the end of an era. That just leaves Oswald to worry about."
