For you~ Chapter 34

Ana was exhausted by the time she got home that night. First, she had reapplied the face of a known psychopath, then she had driven to Wayne manner, and then on top of that, she had ended up running around a circus [well, it was more of a fast-paced walk, really] and that had turned out to be nothing but a waste of time and resulted in a speech from Jim about how she shouldn't 'endanger' her unborn child.

She nearly collapsed as she opened the door to the smell of fresh lasagna. Instead, she made her way to the dining room with a smile. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

Ed pulled a chair out and kissed her forehead as she sat down with a tired but warm smile. "I love you too."

He moved quickly so he was sitting across from her. His eyes seemed to light up as he began to speak again. "That's actually what I wanted to talk about. You, Anastasia Kyle, are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You've stuck by my side through it all and you helped me in ways I can't even begin to explain."

Her pale face flushed as he took her hand. "I know you already said yes, but I want to be in control when I ask. Will you marry me?"

She grabbed Ed by his tie towards her, pausing slightly as her lips began to brush his. "Yes."

He closed the gap before they moved back to focus on their meals with matching beaming expressions. Everything was coming together for Edward Nygma. Today he officially got engaged to the love of his life and tomorrow his plan with Penguin would draw to a close.

He glanced at her with a warm smile. I'm doing this for you and our child, I hope you understand that. I'm doing this for you. I want to protect you, to keep you safe.

I know, Ed would imagine her saying to him with an equally kind and warm smile. I know.

How he wished that was true. In reality, he imagined his fiancée would be quite peeved knowing that he killed her friend. But if Edward didn't kill Oswa... no, Penguin , what was stopping him from killing Ana? Certainly not his amazing morals, or their long-standing friendship, Ed thought bitterly to himself. I'm doing this for you.
