eighteen
eighteen; FOREIGN EMOTION
two years earlier
"Kane, you got a visitor," Red called and Reese placed her wrench down and rolled out from beneath the pod, a grin lighting up her face at the sight of the man standing in the doorway.
"Bell." She exclaimed excitedly as she pulled herself into a sitting position, "What are you doing here?"
"I've got the afternoon off." He responded happily as she beamed at him, "Thought we could get lunch together."
"When have you ever stopped by to have lunch with me, Blake?" Alec pouted, clutching his chest as he stared at his friend in mock agony.
"I don't like you enough," Bellamy responded with a grin.
Reese grinned at him before she turned her attention to Red and looked at him pleadingly as he rolled his eyes at her.
"Go." He huffed dramatically, "But you're staying back later tomorrow with Reyes."
"Deal." She exclaimed as she stood, quickly packing her belongings away and putting them in her container, "See you tomorrow then."
"Get out of here." Red laughed at her.
"Ready?" Bellamy questioned when she stopped next to him.
She nodded enthusiastically, "Have I ever told you how sexy you look in your uniform?"
Raven snorted at her words as Bellamy ducked his head in embarrassment, his cheeks turning right red as he stammered, "Every time you see me in them."
"Hmm." She nodded, "Okay, let's go, and maybe we can stop by Gina's and get her to come to lunch"
"Traitorous bastards," Alec called after them as they snickered.
"Reese, I need your help with something!" A voice called and Reese removed her eye from the scope and glanced down to see Alec staring at her expectantly, "Josie's gonna relieve you."
The girl next to him, Josie, nodded as they caught eyes and Reese slowly descended the ladder they had made and handed her gun to the girl with a smile.
"Thanks, I was dying up there." She exclaimed.
Josie grinned, "Hopefully I die of boredom up there first before the grounders get me."
Reese snorted at the poorly timed joke and patted her shoulder as she turned and made her way up the wall and Reese turned to Alec.
"Whatcha need?" She asked.
"Reyes needs help getting stuff together to build walkies." He responded, "I'm a little busy helping Monty try to make sense of what happened to the Exodus ship."
Reese nodded slowly, her heart clenching at the thought of the ship and her father and she plastered a false smile on her face, one that Alec saw right through but didn't mention.
"I'll go and find him then?" She said with a nod, "Thanks, Xander."
The older man nodded, knowing that she wasn't thanking him for that, but rather for looking over the black box with Monty, even though he wasn't the engineer, just so she wouldn't have to.
"Always." He told her and she smiled before wandering away to find the mechanic, passing the burned down smokehouse and the hunting parties that were slowly arriving back at camp and she found Raven in the dropship arguing with Monty about the radio.
"The Ark is not there." She told him, gesturing to the static the radio had created, "You're listening to a hole in the sky."
"Hey, my family is up there," Monty exclaimed as she moved to pull wires from the radio they'd been trying to use to call the ark with for days with no response.
"I'm sorry." Was all Raven said as she pulled the wire and walked out without another word.
"Didn't sound very sorry," Monty grumbled as he sat back down.
"Well, looks like she doesn't really need my help, either." She replied as she grabbed another chair and set it across from Monty and taking a seat, "What have you found so far?"
Monty hesitated, not wanting to scratch at a wound that hadn't even begun to heal before he caught the look on her face and sighed softly and played back some static.
Reese frowned at the sound, due to it not sounding at all like the static she had been hearing from radio since Unity Day.
"It sounds weird, yeah?"
"Super weird." She responded, "What could cause that type of interference?"
Monty shrugged, "Advanced technology."
"The grounders don't have that." Reese told him, her eyes alight with curiosity and determination, wanting to know what happened to her Dad "So, what does?"
"Certainly not us." Monty sighed, "So, I really don't know, but when the signal hit, their navigation system went haywire, never came back and the ship crashed."
Reese frowned in thought, coming up with absolutely nothing.
"Hey, I'm really sorry that we couldn't fix the radio." She said quietly, "And that you couldn't talk to your family."
"I spoke to them on Unity Day, so at least, it was something." Monty told her with a sad smile, "I'm sorry about your Dad."
"Thanks, Monty." She whispered as she slowly stood, "I'm gonna go and tell Bellamy about this."
"Have fun." He teased.
"Shut up." She laughed, flicking him on the forehead before she walked out of the ship and quickly made her way over to the large tent Bellamy resided in that was off to the side of camp and quickly entered it, "Hey, Bell, me and Monty were listening to the black box radio an — HOLY FUCK!"
She quickly covered her eyes, cheeks burning in embarrassment as she heard the sound of covers being shifted coming from Bellamy's bed.
"Reese, maybe knock," Raven exclaimed.
"You can't knock on a tent, Raven." Reese snapped as she felt around for the tent flap and quickly finding the open and stepping out of it as a horrible feeling filled her stomach which made her want to throw up.
"Reese, wa–"
The young woman removed her hand from her eyes when she knew she wouldn't be able to see Raven on top of Bellamy anymore and rushed away from the tent, ignoring her friend's shouting for her to wait and the nosy stares from curious onlookers.
"How'd it go?" Monty asked when she re-entered the dropship and made her way over to the ladder.
"Didn't see him." She called back as she began to climb and didn't stop until she reached the topmost level where she hopped off and slammed the hatch closed and she moved further into the room, raking her hands through her hair as she blinked rapidly,
"You okay?" Reese jumped and whirled around, only to relax at the sight of Alec getting to his feet as he stared at her in concern, "Are you trying not to cry?"
"No." Her voice cracked and he looked at her sceptically, causing her to sigh, "You know how you and Gina used to tease me because you thought I had feelings for Bellamy?"
"Yeah?" He replied slowly.
"Well, I do." She replied and when he started to grin, she shut it down, "And I need to not have them."
"What, why?" He asked in confusion.
Reese didn't reply as she crossed the room and pressed her lips against his and Alec responded instantly, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer as she used her one of her hands to steady herself by grasping his neck and the other to tug at his hair causing a moan to escape him before he broke the kiss and stared down at her in shock, his breathing coming out heavy.
"Reese, you just said–"
"I know and I also said that they needed to stop." She responded as she moved to his neck and pressed a few kisses to the column of his throat and speaking between each one, "Plus, it's not like this isn't anything we haven't done before."
"I know." He groaned out as he pulled her closer, "But you love him."
"And he's down there with Raven." She replied as she briefly pulled back to look him in the eye, "I just, I need to forget, please, even if it is for just one night."
Alec said nothing for a long moment before he turned their bodies and pushed Reese up against the wall of the dropship moving his head down in order to press his lips against hers, their lips moulding together in a way that they'd both almost forgotten.
Reese grinned into it as his hands moved from her face to her shirt and tugged it over her head and he pulled his lips from hers and moved down to her neck, the woman moaning quietly as he reached the spot he knew all too well.
She moved her hands to his jeans, tugging at the zipper as quickly as she could when Alec's head dipped to her collarbone and his hand reached behind her to unclip the stubborn material, causing her to smirk and reach behind her to do it herself and they slowly lost themselves in the passion.

"Reese!" A female voice shouted, muffled through the ground between the floors, "You up there?"
"Yeah." She called as she tugged her jeans back up her legs and threw Alec's shirt at him, which he caught with ease, sending her a thankful as he pulled it over his head, "What's up?"
"Clarke, Finn, and Myles still aren't back from their hunting trip yet!" It was Rowena, she realised, "We're heading out to find them."
She exchanged a worried look with Alec and they both stood, the male opening the hatch and they quickly descended the ladder to face Rowena who looked at them in amusement and Murphy who rose an eyebrow at the two in surprise, a smirk flittering across his face.
"Have fun up there?" Murphy smirked.
"Shut up, Murphy. Do you need two more, or were you just letting us know?" She asked, looking between the two.
"We need some more people." Rowena confirmed, "Bellamy wants a quarter of our best shooters going out and the rest back here."
Reese's heart sunk at the name but nodded her head and they each moved down the ladder to the first level and they exited to dropship, meeting Bellamy, Raven, Octavia, Monty, and a few others at the base of the ship.
Raven refused to meet her eyes and Bellamy looked as though he wanted to speak but instead said nothing to her, his words directed at those who stood around him.
"Like the hunting parties, we head out in teams." He announced, his face set in determination, "Octavia and Raven, Miller and Drew, Josie and Xander, Monty and Rowena, Reese, you're with me. We'll all be looking in a section of the rough area that they were hunting in this morning and each team needs a radio."
"Let's move out," Reese called and the group separated into their teams, moving out quickly.
"Good luck." Bellamy yelled as he turned to Reese, "Ready?"
"Uh-huh." She nodded as she grabbed one of the walkies and began to walk, leaving Bellamy to follow after her.
"We thought you guys said you were heading west." Monty's voice spoke from the walkie a half-hour after they left camp, "Where are you?"
"Just keep the moon on your left," Bellamy said into the box that he'd taken from Reese's hand who grabbed it off with a glare.
"Don't worry, you'll find us." She said into it.
"I'm sorry you had to see that earlier," Bellamy spoke after she removed her hand from the switch on the walkie.
"Why are you sorry? I was the one who walked in on you." She responded tensely.
"I'm not sure." Bellamy said after a moment, "I just feel really horrible that you had to see it."
"It's fine, Bellamy." The male recoiled slightly at her use of his full name, "You don't have to explain yourself to me, it's not like you cheated on me and I caught you or anything like that."
Then why does it feel like I did, He thought to himself.
"We're good." She continued, "I'm glad you're not sleeping with teenagers anymore."
Bellamy turned to look at her in surprise, "They were both eighteen already."
"Oh." She hummed, "Cool, can we stick to searching?"
"Sure." He murmured.
"Is anyone else hearing this signal?" Monty asked.
"Only your voice," Miller answered.
"Just keep your eyes open," Raven responded.
"There's nothing wrong with the signal on our end," Alec commented.
"I don't hear anything, Monty," Reese answered into her own walkie.
"I think it's the same thing we heard in the black box." Reese furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, not realising that Bellamy had taken the radio from her hand.
"Damn it, Monty, pay attention." He exclaimed as he looked around the trees, "Do you see anything?"
There was no response from Monty's end and the two adults shared a look as Reese grabbed the walkie and spoke into it frantically, "Monty, Rowena, report."
There was a loud screech but neither Monty, nor Rowena, responded to her words, but another did.
"There's someone in the bushes," Raven announced and Bellamy rose his gun, the two sharing another look as they began to walk to Raven and Octavia's section, knowing they were the closest.
"Myles, what happened?" They heard Octavia exclaim and they quickened their paces, breaking through the trees to find the two girls hunched over Myles who had two arrows sticking out of him.
"Where are they?" Raven asked, "Clarke and Finn, where are they?"
"Grounders took them." He barely choked out.
"Take it easy," Reese said gently as she moved forward and inspected the injuries, trying to remember what her mother might have done in the situation.
"We have to get him back to camp." She head Bellamy speak behind her.
"Bell, what about Clarke and Finn?" Octavia asked worriedly.
"We need to get Myles back, he's lost a lot of blood." Reese exclaimed as she looked over her shoulder at the three, "We need to get him home."
"Raven, I'm sorry," Bellamy said after he and Reese looked at one another, her worried eyes flickering back to the injured boy as Alec and Josie entered the small clearing.
Raven nodded shakily as Octavia moved away from them, "We need to make a stretcher."
"Miller and Drew are on their way back." Josie told them as Bellamy turned to the two and he quickly nodded before raising the walkie to his lips, "We ran into them on our way here."
"Monty, Rowena, we're heading home." He spoke into it, "You copy?"
Silence.
"Monty, Ro, can either of you hear us?" Octavia asked into the one she'd taken from Raven.
Nothing.
"Rowena and Monty, where the hell are you guys?" Bellamy demanded, his tone becoming more concerned each time neither of them answered the call, "Report. Monty?"
