[24] You Ruined My Plans
T.W. Fluff, Fluff, and More Fluff.
Virgil frowned as he watched his boyfriend's eyes droop again. For the past few days, Logan hadn't been fully awake at breakfast, leaving his boyfriend to be rather concerned. He figured it was something to do with how recording the last video went down, and the whole planning of videos since then.
Roman, Patton, and Thomas were not listening to him, and it was causing him a large amount of stress. Logan was logic, he relied on words, and making points, creating reasons for everything to happen, and when he was ignored like that, it really put him down.
He had tried talking to Logan about it, but every time he began to talk about it, someone, usually Roman, walked in and ruined the whole thing with his big mouth, talking about Patton or something.
"Logan, buddy?" Patton rested a hand on his shoulder, and Virgil flinched as Logan suddenly turned towards the source of the voice. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am fine Patton." Logan waved him off, dismissing the whole thing, and Virgil sighed, trying to figure out how to make Logan feel better. He knew how it got to him, having gone through being ignored for a long time, and having ideas dismissed as useless or boring.
Of course, Logan was only trying to do what was best for Thomas and keep him from being a complete idiot, but in doing so, he was brushed off, and "no fun".
Virgil reached over and took Logan's hand in his own, trying to reassure him it was okay, but in doing so, Logan jumped, and ripped his hand away, before almost running off.
Virgil felt his heart drop slightly and he suppressed a sigh. Roman and Patton had royally messed up. He had to work out how to fix everything and destress Logan in the process.
He thanked Patton for the breakfast and rushed off to his room, the gears in his mind turning, trying to come up with something he could do for Logan.
He could do a movie night, but that might end up with Logan falling asleep and then it wouldn't do much to help him, other than giving him more sleep. He could make a speech, but Virgil was terrible at delivering things like that, and it always made his anxiety spike.
In the end, he decided on a simple dinner, followed by a walk in the Imagination, and stargazing, where he would inevitably build up the courage to finally kiss him, and tell him how perfect he truly is. Hopefully, it would work.
He set about planning out what he would say to Logan, as well as making a small note for Logan, telling him to be ready for seven pm sharp.
The two didn't go out on dates often, their dates usually consisted of nights in talking about nothing in particular, or stargazing. They weren't very ornate, but they were enjoyable for both parties involved, which made it better for them.
After delivering the note to Logan, he set about trying to find Patton to help him make a wonderful meal for Logan. Patton knew the kinds of meals that cheered all the sides up when they were having a bad day.
Virgil didn't have the brain capacity to remember that kind of stuff, but he did remember smaller details about everyone, like Patton's eyes are duller when he's sad, and they don't crinkle when he smiles. He is more often frowning than not, and he tried to force himself to be okay, even though he isn't. Roman's sash is usually a darker red, more like a burgundy than a scarlet, and he's hardly ever around, and if he is, he's muttering angrily under his breath, or swinging a sword around. Logan usually goes quiet, his gaze never meets anyone's and he shuts himself off. He also often gets less sleep, making him jumpier.
When Patton is happy, he seems to glow, and his words often run together, making it rather difficult to figure out what he's saying, but it doesn't matter, because he has a huge grin on his face. Roman usually wears a crown and spends more time helping Patton keep the mind tidy, and he will be nicer to everyone. Logan will read a book to Virgil, or invite someone into his study to help him do something mundane that he could do alone, but he relishes in their company just because he can.
They're not important things, but it makes it easy for him to read them, and he can sense when they're not too happy, but it doesn't stop Virgil trying. He may not be the best at cheering people up, but he tries his best.
He finally located Patton in the commons with Roman. He didn't want to separate them, but if Roman came into the kitchen to "help" he would just end up in the way, and Patton would then end up not being of any use.
"Pat?" Virgil smiled weakly when Patton looked up to him and waited for him to continue. "I need your help?" He fidgeted and shifted his weight from one foot to the other and back again. He wasn't good at asking for help, be it for good or bad reasons, but he was trying to get better at it.
The two walked into the kitchen, and Virgil waited a minute before he finally spoke up. "I need you to help me make something for Logan, the food you make when you know he's not feeling too good, or whatever. I know there is a few for him, but I can't ever remember what you make for everyone."
"Well," Patton thought for a moment and smiled. "Are you wanting a meal or a desert?"
"Mainly a meal." Virgil nodded as if confirming it with himself.
"There's a choice of two, we could make him a stew, but that takes a while, or we can make a pasta dish."
"What kind of pasta dish?" Virgil tilted his head slightly, making Patton coo softly, smiling at his son.
"Well, he likes pasta and cheese, so you could do a tortellini type dish, and we can make a cheese sauce to go with it if you want?"
"Tortellini... That's like ravioli but without the meat, right?"
"Correct." Patton smiled warmly and directed Virgil to where everything that he needed was.
After about half an hour of setting up, everything was ready to be cooked, which would take about half an hour. He realised it was too early to cook everything, so he decided to talk to Patton about his and Roman's behaviour toward the logical side.
"You do know why he's upset, right?" Virgil looked to Patton from his seat on the counter.
"I don't, I just know he is, you wouldn't ask for help cooking for him if he wasn't."
"Do you remember the last video? Where he was trying to talk, and you guys kept talking over him?"
"We were?"
"Yes. He reached over and gripped my hand, he was so frustrated, and... He was about to cry... I wanted to help, but I knew I wouldn't be able to do much, I just ended up kicking in, and making Thomas anxious, which gave us a chance to sink out. I thought things were okay, but then..." Virgil trailed off.
"Planning." Patton realised.
"Yeah. Every idea he suggested was shut down, every time he tried to counter something of Roman's, you butt in, or Thomas got so thrilled over the idea, he couldn't say anything. Again, he turned to me, and tried to get me to help, but what could I do? Reiterate his ideas? How many times in the past have I done that and had you all turn on me?"
"Oh... You took the fall for him and got all upset because one of us would get snippy, and tell you to be quiet."
"Yeah, and I tried talking to you guys, as soon as it went quiet, I started to speak on behalf of him, but you all talked over me too, and I couldn't do anything about it. I tried helping him, and it didn't work. He doesn't sleep, he's not eating properly, he won't even cuddle with me anymore. You saw him this morning, he jumped every time someone so much as breathed in his direction."
"Virge... I didn't know."
"No, I know, that's why you're helping me, and tomorrow, when this has all, hopefully, blown over, you will apologise to him, because he deserves an apology from you three."
"Yeah... We'll make sure we will, I'll tell Ro."
Virgil nodded and looked to the time, jumping off the counter, and getting Patton to help him finally cook the food.
By the time it was done, and the kitchen was set up, Virgil was tired, but he was ready to spend the time with his boyfriend. He grinned when he saw Logan walk into the kitchen.
"Lo!" Virgil walked over to him and pulled him in for a hug, smiling when Logan scanned his face.
"What's gotten you so happy?"
"I can't be happy about spending time with my boyfriend?"
"Well, I don't know what you have planned, but you're cute." Logan smiled, and rested his hands on Virgil's waist before he pressed a kiss to his nose, causing his cheeks to turn a bright red that could rival Roman's sash.
"Logan," Virgil whined and overexaggerated his pout.
"Virgil." Logan smiled fondly and waited for Virgil to finish talking.
"You ruined my plans."
"What plans?"
"We were going to sit and have a nice dinner, then we were going to go on a walk, and finish by stargazing, and talking for a bit, where I would reassure you that everything was going to work out, and people were going to start listening to you a bit more, and then you come in here, and kiss me, and mess me up, acting like it's all okay again."
"Virgil, it is all okay. I'm okay. Things are better, and I know you mean well, so thank you for caring so much about me."
Virgil sighed pulling Logan closer to him, resting their foreheads together, smiling when Logan pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"Will you still go stargazing after the meal with me?"
"Of course, I would love nothing more."
Virgil grinned and served up the meal, and the two spent the meal talking and laughing, making Virgil feel better about the whole thing.
By the time they'd finished eating and washing up, it was getting late, and getting to the optimal time to see the stars at their peak.
They walked hand in hand to the hill where they stargaze, and as they lay on their backs, Virgil remembered one vital thing he forgot to do before they lay down.
"Lo?"
"Yes?"
"Look at me?"
Logan smiled fondly, and turned his head, facing Virgil, who was looking rather nervous.
"So um... May I uh... Kiss you?"
Logan nodded and leaned over to Virgil, capturing his lips in his own. The kiss was nothing like either of them expected, but that made it all the more enjoyable, and Virgil didn't regret waiting to kiss Logan for this long, but he knew he wasn't going to put off kissing him anymore.
He knew he wanted to kiss Logan all the time, ad he began to wonder why he had put it off for so long.
"I love you, Mi Estrella." Logan smiled, as they pulled back from the kiss, making Virgil flush.
"I love you too, Lo." Virgil reached out and hooked his pinky around Logan's and the two lay that way for a while, happy to have their date end that way. After a while, they headed back inside and cuddled until they fell asleep, small smiles on their faces. Maybe they would deal with some bumps, but as long as they had one another, it would be fine.
