Best Friends

*Author's Note:
This one is just about you and Anakin being best friends, no romantic feelings. Just simply having him there to make you laugh, there when something goes wrong, someone to talk to...you know...a friend!

Y/N's POV:

I dragged myself down the halls of the Jedi Temple, slowly perking myself up. I had just recovered from a nasty chest infection so today was my first day back and just finished being briefed on a mission. I was making my way to Anakin's quarters since I haven't seen him in a week, we had only been communicating through the commlink.

Once I reached his door, I firstly knocked to see if he actually made it back yet.

My answer was confirmed when the door opened on its own and I stepped inside, walking over and sitting on the couch across from him.

Anakin looks up at me and smiles.

"She lives." He says, throwing his arms in the air.

I roll my eyes and chuckle.

"Yes, I do. I'm not 100% yet but I feel a lot better, I still have abit of a cough though." I explain, leaning into the couch.

Anakin nods as he too, relaxes into the chair, staring at me with his bright blue eyes.

"Well I'm glad you're feeling better and coming back. It's been too quiet." He remarks.

I smile and shake my head.

"Oh yeah? How has your week been anyway?" I ask, crossing my left leg over my right leg, leaning forward.

"It's been alright." Anakin shrugs.

"What's been your highs and lows of the week?" I ask, raising my brows.

"Mm, my high was seeing Obi-Wan crash a ship, because it's usually me that gets all the blame for it. And my low..." Anakin begins chatting.

My breath hitches in my throat, causing me to break out into a tiny coughing fit, the cough still sounding rather crackly and not pleasant. Anakin screws his nose up at me.

"That...that shit just pointed in my fucking direction." He scoffs.

I press my lips together, trying to stifle a laugh but failing. My laugh sounding like wheezing air due to my poor lungs that are still recovering.

"Look at you, you're an absolute animal, you should live outside." Anakin says with chuckling and shaking his head.

My jaw drops while laughing harder, I grab the cushion beside me and throw it at his head.

"I was really sick and you're being an ass!" I protest.

"Oh please, a chest infection couldn't take you out." He rolls his eyes, rubbing his forehead from the contact from the cushion I threw.

"No I suppose not, the universe would never keep us apart." I smirk.

Anakin scoffs.

"It needs to try harder in here, don't cough in my direction again." He glares at me, scooting to the other end of the couch.

                                          •

"You've got to be fucking kidding me..."Anakin sighs while glaring at me.

My eyes grow wide at his comment, I put the blaster down on the table in front of me and cross my arms over my chest.

"I beg your pardon?" I ask in bewilderment.

Who does he think he's talking to that way?

"Did the infection go up into your brain?" Anakin asks, walking closer to me.

"Anakin!" I exclaim, trying not to laugh.

"Well tell me what that was! You missed all the targets, Y/N!" He laughs, gesturing his hand towards the targets that I unfortunately did miss.

I sigh as I look out at the field, seeing the missed targets. He was right, I'm off my game.

"Maybe it was too early for me to come back." I sigh.

Anakin grabs my hands, catching my attention I look up at him.

"Maybe, but don't let this get you down. You're still recovering. I did see a little shake in your dominant hand." He says softly, giving my hands a gentle squeeze.

As I went to speak, we were interrupted by a group of Padawans. They usually don't bother us, seeing as Anakin and I are Knights and above them, they're usually not a bother. But there's a particular Padawan who's got quite the ego.

"Woah, a little off your game there aren't you? Y/N?"." Padawan, James, says with a smug expression.

Anakin rolls his eyes.

Here we go.

"Maybe I can teach you a thing or two." James offers, walking closer to me.

Anakin steps forward, closing the gap between myself and James. He stares him down with an annoyed expression, standing his ground.

"I think she'll be just fine. You can run along now and go back to sticking each others heads up each others asses now." Anakin scoffs, waving him off.

James chuckles, crossing his arms over his chest.

"What's your problem, Skywalker? I'm just trying to help Y/N...she clearly needs the practice." He says, taking one step closer to Anakin.

"You're my problem right now. Y/N doesn't need the practice, she is one of the best Jedi there is in this galaxy." Anakin says, towering over him.

"Best in the galaxy?" James asks, turning to look at my missed targets then turns his attention back to the two of us, "Are you sure?"

I roll my eyes and walk around Anakin to face James.

"Jesus. So I missed some targets...big fucking deal. I'm still recovering from an illness, which you probably don't know about because you don't know anything that's going on around you besides yourself because you're so self absorbed. I'm not sure if you know this but the world doesn't revolve around you." I let out in an annoyed huff.

Anakin raises his eyebrows, a small smirk playing on his lips. James stares at me, he scoffs as he uncrosses his arms.

"You Knights are just such assholes to everyone." He shakes his head.

Anakin's eyes widen and I grab his hand and squeeze, knowing full well if I didn't he'd use that same hand to smack that Padawan into next week.

"And you Padawans are so full of yourselves. Honestly, if I ever acted like that when I was a Padawan I would be mortified. And if this is what the next generation of Jedi is going to be like, god fucking help us." I growl.

James went to argue some more but Anakin put his hand up to stop him.

"It's over man. Just accept the defeat, you're not winning this. I mean...it would be extremely entertaining to watch but I'm over it now. Just get lost." Anakin sighs.

James huffs as he walks away, his little Padawan minion friends following closely behind.

"God they're annoying. Surely we weren't like that...?" I ask, looking up at Anakin.

"Oh god no, do you really think Obi-Wan would let us get away with that type of behaviour? Honestly, the man would've sent me back to Tatooine." He chuckles.

I chuckle as look him up and down.

"Hmm yeah, you're right. You do look like the type to be given back after being kidnapped." I mumble.

Anakin gently smacks my shoulder as I laugh.

After we calm down from our little laughter, I look back out at the targets. Anakin puts his hands on my shoulders, turning me so I'm facing him.

"I meant what I said. You are one of the best Jedi in the galaxy...so what? You're having an off day. You'll be back to your kick ass self in no time." He says, squeezing my shoulders gently.

I smile as I look up into his soft crystal blue eyes.

"I know, I was just hoping that day was today." I shrug.

"You're most of the way there, just gotta give yourself some extra time. Just don't push yourself." He says softly.

I nod and smile, he smiles back at me as he pulls me in for a hug. As my head presses up against his chest, I close my eyes. The moment is short lived when Anakin jabs my side with his fingers.

"What was that for?" I ask, jumping away from him.

"That, is for abandoning me for a whole week. Leaving me alone with all of them. Don't you ever do that again." He says, pointing his finger at me.
