•I Understand You•

Sort of wrote this when I was in the middle of a mental breakdown.😐 I kind of wrote it more for myself, and I wasn't even planning to post it. But I decided that I would share it anyway since I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way.
Also, if you're not a reader of some of my stories, certain parts may not make sense, but know that I make a few references to my books.

Also the song can be played anywhere.

Sitting on a bed in the white room with your back pressed up against the wall, you sighed - your anxiety and depression taking over as it always did. The claws of your demons latched onto every fiber of your soul, and every day you lost yourself to them just a little more, "Why so sad Princess?"

You slowly lifted your watery eyes, meeting the angelic view of a crystal blue, "Who are you?" You asked, eyeing his appearance with furrowed brows. He wasn't dressed in a white gown like you, or in a doctors or nurses scrubs like anyone else. No, he looked - normal, like he didn't belong here.

He smiled as he got a little closer to you and sat at the edge of the bed - not creating a dent or a crinkle in the sheets, as if he weighed a feather, "Anakin Skywalker." He nodded a greeting.

"Why are you here?" You cowered away from him, having no trust in strangers, let alone a man.

He held his hands up, "Not to hurt you, just to help you."

You snorted with an eye roll, "What, are you a therapist or something? Because I'm tired of talking to you people, no one understand." You pulled your knees to your chest and hugged them, you rested your cheek on top as a single tear escaped your eyes.

"I'm not a therapist," The soft voice spoke, "And I do understand." His words peaked your interest and you rose your head up. The blue in his eyes was enough to leave you in a peace-filled daze, "I understand losing yourself to your own darkness, even when it was never your intention. I understand trying your hardest to hold onto the things you cherish the most, only for them to slip through your fingers anyway. And (y/n), I understand succumbing to manipulation, believing the lies of someone you thought you could trust - I understand you."

You were speechless, and you felt as if a tiny weight was lifted from your shoulders, because for once - you found someone who understands. Someone who doesn't look at you like you're insane or judges you for how broken you feel, "Who are you?" You asked once again, not for a name, but you wondered where this man came from.

He chuckled beautifully, "I thought I answered that question."

"No," You shook your head as you got closer to him, "Where did you come from?"

His gaze dropped to the floor as he sighed, "You're not ready to hear that just yet." He gazed back up with a soft smile, "But you never answered my question - why so sad Princess?"

"Because I don't want to be here." You answered honestly.

He gestured to the door, "Then leave, you aren't trapped here sweetheart."

"No, I don't want to be alive." You clarified, causing his expression to drop.

"I understand that too," He whispered, as you saw his own eyes water, "But there's so much life to live baby, and you have the opportunity to do it right."

"What makes you so sure?" You asked as you felt a lump forming in your throat, and you tried to swallow it down, "I feel defeated."

He stood up from the bed and held his hand out to me, "Get up and come with me."

You gazed at his hand for a few moments before accepting it - normally you wouldn't, but something about him felt familiar to you, "Where are we going?"

He shrugged, "Wherever you want. We can go to a whole different universe where anything is possible; we can go to the fifties, we can have a chance at royalty, to live in a lake house on Naboo with five children, to fall madly in love in an asylum, I can even save you from being a slave, and marry you with a baby on the way. We can go wherever that beautiful mind of yours takes us, you can live a thousand different lives with me if you wish to."

You shook your head, confused, "I don't understand."

He smiled and pulled you through the door; you were in a field of flowers that was surrounded by crashing waterfalls, the moonlight shined on him, making his crystal eyes glisten - it was the most beautiful sight you had ever seen. It was like he walked you through a portal into a whole other world, one you consider to be more beautiful than your own.

His gentle voice began to sing to you - making you smile as he lightly danced with you, "There's that gorgeous smile." He twirled you in a circle before pulling you close to him, his presence giving you a strange sense of tranquility that you never felt before.

You didn't trust people, you didn't allow yourself to be close with anyone. But then this stranger came - and suddenly your walls slowly began to crumble. It was the way he smiled, the way he laughed, and the way he made you feel - understood.

You knew deep in your heart that he would never harm you. He was only here to help you.

"How do you feel?" He asked softly, his cheek resting on top of your head as he hugged you securely.

You inhaled and exhaled heavily, breathing freely for what felt like the first time in so long, "Peaceful."

"That's why I'm here (y/n), to give you the comfort you need." He whispered and squeezed you tight, your mind immediately being filled with an image of a man burning as he screamed. You gasped as you shot your head up to look at your source of comfort,  "Everything alright?"  He asked - gently caressing your cheek.

You nodded, "Yeah I-" You paused as you blinked the strange image away, "I must be tired."

"Of course you are," He smiled, "You don't sleep, you're too busy living in your stories."

He backed away but spun you once more, and the world around you shifted into something new. You were now in a ball gown with hundreds staring as you both danced together - crowns atop both of your heads, "What's happening?" You asked with wide doe eyes.

"We're Royalty my Queen." He answered simply with a wink, before he pulled you close to bury your face into his chest, until he pushed you back away.

The scenery had changed once again.

This time you were in a classroom, sitting in a students chair, and standing up at the board was Anakin, "Welcome to Coruscant University, I'll be your freshman English professor for the semester."  He smiled as his eyes traveled the room, until they landed on yours, and his smile slowly began to fade away, "Oh, not good." Then he immediately looked like he pulled himself from a daze and snapped his fingers, "Oops didn't mean to show that one, you haven't released it yet." He chuckle with a wink as the room morphed into you laying on a bed, suddenly feeling like you were in deep pain.

(The Apprentice reference)
"Please keep pushing Empress." The doctor instructed you and you glanced down to your large stomach with wide eyes.

You immediately looked up and searched the room for Anakin, only he wasn't there, "Anakin!" you called for him, feeling afraid and alone, "Anakin come back!"

Suddenly, he appeared in the doorway with a smile, "I'm not meant to be here right now, it's not my part of the story," He walked forward and gently caressed your cheek with a smile, "But don't worry, your love for me will keep me alive, you'll never bring my demise to life - you'll always find a way to save me." He leaned down and pressed his lips to yours, giving you a sense of hope.

Once he backed away, the scenery changed once more - only this time, you were on a planet that was covered in molten lava.

It looked familiar, something that you had seen before and it brought dread to your heart. You slowly walked around, the gravel crunching under your feet, until you heard a scream of pain - one that made your heart ache. So you ran in that direction, and stopped in horror at the sight of your Angel as he tried pulling himself away from the molten liquid below him - so it wouldn't consume him.

"Ana-" You tried running to him, only for a force to pull you away - making you land harshly in the hot rocks. Then a man in a beard turned his head to look at you, "Save him." You begged in a cry.

But he slowly shook his head, "I can't. This is what truly happens, this is what you can't change no matter how hard you try to." He waved his hand, and the scenery changed - this time you were back in that white room, Anakin was sitting on the bed with a frown.

"What was that?" You asked with tears pooling in your eyes.

Anakin pushed himself from the bed and stood in front of you, glancing down at your short stature - his hand gently caressing your cheek, "My downfall."

"I'm so confused," You cried, "Who are you?"

"Someone who isn't real."

You shook your head with furrowed brows, "What do you mean? You're standing right in front of me."

He sighed as he gazed around the room, "Do you know where we are right now?" You slowly shook your head in response, "We're in your mind sweetheart. The place you go to hide away in the fantasies that you created because reality tore you apart - this place is the only place where you actually feel anything. Out in your world, you're numb."

You blinked and the tears rolled down your cheeks, "So, you're really not real?" The one person who makes you feel something, who brings you comfort - isn't real, and that reality devastated you.

He shook his head, "No, at least not in your world. Just as you're not real in mine. But we meet here, both of us living out the lives we wished we could have, divulging in the love we wished we could share." He gazed down at you with a look of longing and sorrow, "But I'm in a suit-like cage in another universe, dreaming of you as my escape. While you're safe in your bed, dreaming of me as yours. Two blackened souls trying to cross the boundaries between fantasy and reality, after both have suffered for too long." He placed his hand in your chest, feeling your lively heartbeat, "But you should go, you shouldn't be here anymore - I can't give you everything you're looking for, even if I want to."

Then it all hit you, every story, every moment you shared with this man came rushing back to you. You immediately shook your head, "No I want to stay here with you."

He smiled, a single tear rolling down his cheek, "You can't stay here forever, as I said before - you have a chance to get out of your suffering, to live a long life of happiness. Go out there and do what I couldn't."

You nodded as your heart cracked, but you knew he was right - you couldn't hide away in your mind forever. But you didn't want to let go just yet, you knew one day you had to, but today wasn't that day, "I'll go, but not yet - I'm not ready."

He cocked a brow curiously, "So you plan to stay with me just a little longer?"

You nodded, "One day I'll say my farewell, but today isn't that day. Today I still need you."

He smiled as he grabbed your hand, enjoying the fact that he too gets to continue to dwell in multiple fantasies with you - his Angel, "Where does your beautiful mind want to take us then?"

You thought for a moment, then you smiled, "Have you ever heard of Stockholm Syndrome?"

His smile widened and he suddenly held up a piece of rope in his hands, one given to him by your own thoughts, "I like where this is going Princess."
