Chapter Ten

Hope's POV
I couldn't believe it! Today was the day of the wedding! I was getting ready, since we had forty-five minutes until it was time to start. My hair was curled, and I had a couple strands on top pulled back and pinned together, and I was wearing a simple tiara with pearls in it. My dress was a ball gown style, with wide straps that didn't sit on my shoulders, and it was a beaded torso. The dress was new, and I was borrowing the tiara from Colton's mom. I also had a necklace Joel gave me for my thirteen birthday that had a gem that was a sky blue color, and that was old and blue, so I had all four. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. My bridesmaids were Courtney, Moriah, and Schyler, Colton's sister. Grace was my maid of honor, and the flower girl was Leah's adopted sister, Mia. Our ring bearer was my nephew, Jude. Also, we decided that Joel would be the one to walk me down the aisle. He poked his head in, and he froze when he saw me. I giggled slightly.

"Do you like it? Schyler and Moriah made me try it on, and I wasn't sure if I'd like it. Obviously, I did." He smiled, coming all the way in.
"It's beautiful. Something like this, I'd normally say seems too much, but it looks beautiful on you." I blushed. He'd always been the one to say stuff like that, even if I didn't think so. He's always been the one to see the best in me.
"Is there a reason other than to see my dress, that you came in here?" He smacked his forehead.
"Yes. Colton wants to see you. Well, not see you, but you know what I mean." I chuckled.
"Yes, I know what you mean. Are you chaperoning so nobody peeks?" He laughed.
"More or less. You coming, or not?" I laughed, and he took my hand, leading me out.
"Alright, close your eyes." I nodded, allowing him to lead me a little more.
"Colton, eyes closed?" Then, I heard laughter.
"Hey! No peeking yet!" Joel complained, and I heard more laughter.
"Okay. I'm bringing her in." He led me in, and somehow, I found Colton's hand.
"Hope, I'm gonna pray, alright?" Colton asked, and I nodded.
"What'd you say?" I chuckled.
"Knock yourself out." We laughed.
"Okay. Dear father, we thank you so much for being able to celebrate this day. We also thank you for protecting Hope and Grace, and thank you that they are both able to be here. I pray that you would lead and guide the two of us as we start this part of out life together. We thank you for everyone who helped us get this day into one piece. Amen." Colton kissed my hand, and Joel led me back out. When we got back, I picked up the family picture we took when I was thirteen. It was Mom, Dad, Luke, Joel, me, Rebecca, Libby, Daniel, Josh, and Ben. Yep, I have a lot of siblings, but I love 'em. Joel came back in.

"Hey. It's time. You ready?" I took a deep breath.
"Yes. Let's go. You ready?" He laughed, leading me towards the auditorium
"I'm giving my baby sister away. No, I'm not ready. He knows that if he hurts you, he'll have every last one of your brothers on top of him just like that. Maybe even your sisters, too." We laughed, and the doors opened. Everyone else went in, and then I picked up my bouquet. Joel took my arm, and we went in. I could see Colton and Luke both trying not to cry, and I smiled behind my veil. This was the bats day of my life. Colton stepped down, and Joel reluctantly handed me off to him. We stood in front of the pastor, and I handed my bouquet to Grace. Colton moved the veil off my face, and the pastor began.

"Dearly beloved, we are gather here today to witness this union. If anyone objects to this union, speak now, or forever hold your peace." Jude stepped forward, handing Colton the rings.
"Do you, Colton, take Hope to be your lawfully wedded wife?" He smiled at me.
"I do." He turned to me.
"And do you, Hope, take Colton to be your lawfully wedded husband?" I smiled back at him.
"I do." He turned back to Colton.
"Do you have the rings?" I took his, and we said out vows as we put them on each other.
"And with this ring, I make this vow, to stay with you, for richer or poorer, better or worse, through sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live." A couple other things happened, and then we heard the best words of the day.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." And that was all it took for Colton to nearly crash his lips into mine. He wrapped his arms around my waist, and I wrapped mine around his neck. We pulled back, smiling, and Grace handed me my bouquet back. Colton took my hand, and we headed back up the aisle together. We got outside, and he grinned at me.

"So, you're Mrs. Dixon now. Welcome to the family." I kissed him again, and about a half hour later, after pictures, we headed to the reception. Joel took dad's place, so we danced to a favorite song of mine. Butterfly Kisses, by Bob Carlise. Then, Colton and I had our first dance together. The reception flew by, and I also danced with Luke, while Colton danced with Schyler during one of his favorite songs, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, from the Lion King. Later, we changed out of our fancy clothes, and everyone saw us off for our honeymoon. I had even caught Luke, Joel, and Jude using paint to write 'Just Married' on our car. We were going to a beach neither of us had ever been to. Ocean Isle beach, in North Carolina. We got to the cottage, had dinner, and then just enjoyed our honeymoon. Of course, we did other things as well, that I shouldn't talk about. Let's leave it at we enjoyed it, just the two of us.
