Chapter Eight

Joel's POV
We saw a couple of firefighters carrying Grace's limp body, and they were yelling something, but everything was a blur. Hope was crying and trying to get to Grace, Colton was holding her back, and Luke was on the phone, explaining what had happened. I went over to one of the paramedics, who was checking her pulse

"Excuse me, is Grace still alive or is she-" the paramedic turned to me.
"She's still alive, but just barely. If we don't do something fast, we are going to lose her." I backed away as they got her into the ambulance, and its sirens screamed as it flew towards the hospital, and I went over to Hope, who the paramedics had checked, and given the okay for her to go home with us. She saw me, and when I got over there, she looked hopeful, and I nodded.

"Grace is just barely alive. She's on her way to the hospital right now. She still has a chance." She looked so relieved, and when we got in the car, Colton put Skillet's newest CD Rise, in. Hope looked at the back, and changed it to a different song. Fire and Fury. I liked that song. Hope was smiling gently, and when it finished, I started it over, and we all sang along to it. We had our sister back, and now, two things had to happen. One, Colton needed to propose. Two, Grace. Luke was on the phone with Courtney, explaining what had happened. I wondered of Grace had a foster home. If not, Moriah might be willing like I was.... I'll ask her later. In the meantime, we had just gotten home, and Colton and Hope were hanging back, so I watched, pulling out my phone and taping when I saw what was in Colton's hand.....

Colton's POV
I was shaking, but I told Hope I had a question for her. It was just the two of us, but Joel was watching from the door. I took her hand, and at long last, I started.

"Hope, you already know this, but, I love you. I've loved you since the day I met you, so," I pulled out the box, going down on one knee and opening it.
"Hope Elisabeth Smallbone.....Will you be my wife? Will you marry me?" Her hand flew to her mouth, and her eyes were watering.
"YES! Yes, I will!" She was nearly crying again, and I stood, slipping the ring on her finger, and I kissed her. Then, we heard cheering from the door. Everyone was watching us, Joel, Luke, Courtney, Moriah, even the kids! We grinned at each other, and at them, going up the walk to the house. Now, we just had to deal with the minor detail of planning, well, everything. I didn't care. We could get married in a garage with nobody there, and I wouldn't care. I was one doggone lucky guy right now. Now, time to tell Schyler, and tell the messengers. They were gonna flip.
