henri moreau spent a childhood hidden away by his parents, watching the older brother he never knew rise to fame in the ravens and yet dreading the day he might have to follow the brutal path jean took.

he learnt exy in secret, clinging to a racquet before he could walk and knowing this was his inevitable future before he could speak. exy could never be enjoyable when tainted by fear and dread that shadowed his parents business. henri was meant to be a secret, but the accidental reveal of his existence to the moriyamas ends in death and tragedy for everyone.

the discovery of newly orphaned henri's talent and potential signs him up to the edgar allan university at age sixteen, the youngest raven to ever be recruited. his age, name and inexperience win him no favours among the supposedly reformed ravens. thrown to the sharks, henri struggles to navigate the treacherous waters of their team as they manage the fallout of their recent defeat and the loss of their old captain, riko moriyama. making it to the end of the year feels like an impossible task, even without a brother who didn't know he existed, antagonising teammates, and an infuriatingly confusing roommate thrown in the mix.

henri has two options: be executed as a failed investment by ichirou, or fight his way to the top for survival.

can he make it through his first year as a raven with all eyes on him waiting for him to fall?.

will you believe that this bad boy has been in my drafts since the summer of 2018? i honestly never planned on posting it to wattpad, among the million other random ideas and stories sitting in my drafts, it was just meant to be a pet project to act as an outlet for how much i love the all for the game series (beyond rereading it an unhealthy amount of times, which trust me, i have done).

that being said, you don't have to have read all for the game to read this! i use the term fanfic quite loosely here. it's set in the context of the world that nora sakavic created, which revolves are the sport exy. exy is relatively easy to understand and pick up as you go along: think of a hybridised version of lacrosse and hockey, minus the ice and played indoors on a court. you won't really need any background reading to understand what's going on with the sport (and if you do have any questions, feel free to ask me!). here's are a couple of links to nora's Tumblr explaining exy rules and the history of the sport as i'm sure she'd be far better at explaining than me:

there will be reference to characters from the series, and some of them will make an appearance (i.e. jean moreau, tetsuji) but all the central characters are my own creation and any resemblance to other people, real or fictional, is entirely coincidental.

for those of you who have read the all for the game series, or just want some context, this story is set after the events of the king's men. the ravens have just lost the championships to the foxes. it's canon compliant in that riko moriyama is dead (and good riddance) but tetsuji is still the coach for the ravens (whereas he was fired in the series). this story will be set in castle evermore, the exy stadium of edgar allan university, west virginia. i try to stay as true to the setting as nora sakavic gave us but i took my creative licence where needed :')

so to conclude, this is an exy fanfic which gives us a look into (how i imagine) it is to be an edgar allan raven. this story, and the characters, have had a special soft spot in my heart for the past three or so years so i hope you enjoy reading about them as much as i enjoyed writing about them xx

TWs include: death/murder, guns, blood, physical/verbal abuse, violence, depiction of panic attacks, mention of depression/anxiety, reference to suicide, PTSD, illness/injury, sexual content (no explicit sex scenes but anything and everything that leads up to it, if you catch my drift), explicit language (cursing and swear words)...
