As Lilyfrost padded towards the entrance of the camp, she listened to some of her fellow clanmates chattering like pigeons lined on one of the sturdy oak branches. She soon slid through the thorn and bramble tunnel and outside of the camp, deciding to go hunting by herself despite all the cats warning eachother not to leave camp alone due to the threat of rogues.

She started to walk through the territory, gazing around the thick oak forest. Her home, the one place she belonged. The grey-brown tabby's ears perked as she caught the scent of a vole.

Lilyfrost stalked towards where she smelt the scent, and she soon saw it, skittering between two elder bushes. She crouched down, unsheathed her claws, and broke into a sprint after her little victim.

Just when she was about to sink her teeth into the vole's plump flesh, she bumped into another cat.

The two fell down, and Lilyfrost looked to see who it was angrily.

      Spruceclaw.

"Lilyfrost!" Hissed Spruceclaw, recognizing the newly made warrior. "You should be watching where you were going!"

Lilyfrost's eyes narrowed, trying to mask her relief that Spruceclaw never noticed she was hunting by herself. "But you were the one who ran into me!" She shot back, sounding uncomfortable rather than angry, being that she never liked snapping at others.

Spruceclaw sighed frustratedly. "Whatever. But we have important business! The rest of my hunting patrol and I smelt more rogues by the LightningClan border."

"More?" Lilyfrost's dark amber eyes widened, her neck fur bristling. "Was the scent fresh?"

Spruceclaw nodded, his green eyes firm. "Yep. The rogues must've left our territory just a little bit ago!" He flinched, and a thought must've just came into his head. "And why am I wasting my time talking to you? I have to go find my patrol!"

And with that, the light brown tabby ran off.

Lilyfrost watched as the tom left her. "These rogues..." She whispered to herself. "What are they doing on our territory?" She kept on thinking to herself. She couldn't help but worry. This may become a big problem in the future.

✎...

Lilyfrost padded back into the camp with a single mouse. She placed it onto the fresh kill pile, and looked to her right to see Ivywhisper with her white-tipped ears flattened.

Without even a greeting her, Ivywhisper asked, "did you see any rogues out there?"

Lilyfrost shook her head. "No. But one of the hunting patrols did."

Ivywhisper grumbled. "I wonder what they are doing on our territory." She padded away, her tail lashing. Lilyfrost's tail lowered when she realized Ivywhisper probably didn't want to talk. After all, she never did.

As she let out a sigh, Lilyfrost decided to go ask Lakeshade about the rogues. They may become a problem, so she decided she needed all the information she could get.

Lilyfrost padded over to the clan deputy, who was walking out of the medicine cat den. "Are you okay?" Lilyfrost asked curiously, seeing the yellow-eyed tom's slight limp.

Lakeshade smiled slightly. "Hello, Lilyfrost. I had just gotten a thorn in my paw. How are you doing?"

"Good, thank you." Lilyfrost dipped her head. "Do you know much about this rogue problem?"

Lakeshade blinked and shook his head. "I don't know any more than you do. Brookstar said they may just be passing by. It may not be a problem at all." He explained.

Lilyfrost sighed. She hoped he was right. She looked at him right in the eye. She could tell that the deputy was scared just like every cat else. It was stained in his gentle eyes. But Lilyfrost couldn't help but think that Lakeshade was more frightened about something else that she couldn't tell.

"I better be going, Lilyfrost. See you later." Lakeshade walked away.

Lilyfrost continued to pace around the camp.

I hope Brookstar is right about the rouges just passing through, Lilyfrost thought to herself in worry.

✎...

Lilyfrost was sitting in the clearing next to Sootrain, sharing the vole she caught before with her sister. Sootrain's dark grey pelt with  black flecks was nicely groomed and cobwebs were still wrapped the tip of her ear. Hollyfern had said her cut had gotten infected but it was easy to treat.

"You caught this, right?" Sootrain asked, her mouth full with the vole's tender meat. Lilyfrost grinned proudly and nodded at the green-eyed warrior.

"It's good," she praised, hooking her paw around it and pushing it towards Lilyfrost. Her long, snake-like tail waved happily, "you have the rest. I'm not hungry anymore."

"Thanks," Lilyfrost peeped. She lowered her head and peeled a strip of flesh off of the fresh-kill's bones.

Lilyfrost looked up from her feasting at her sister, whose pelt was bristling. "What?" Lilyfrost huffed, sitting up straight and following Sootrain's green gaze.

Lilyfrost recognized Spruceclaw's patrol. Dawnrunner was leading Furzetail, Antwhisker, Spruceclaw, and three other cats into the camp.

"Is that Falconstar and Hollowberry?" Lilyfrost could hear the growl rumbling deep in Sootrain's throat, to which Lilyfrost replied to with a nod. She recognized the third cat as Breezewing, warrior of LightningClan.

Rogues and now LightningClan? What's next? Lilyfrost thought bitterly, standing up and unsheathing her claws. She had heard that in the past LightningClan and EmberClan always battled for a strip of forest for generations.

Lilyfrost watched as Ivywhisper, Stormberry, Sunmist, and Houndfang slid out of the Warriors den. Talonblaze stalked out of the nursery, standing in front of the entrance defensively as he growled at the visitors, his apprentice Owlpaw standing at his side more nervously.

"I wonder what LightningClan wants." Lilyfrost could hear Sootrain growl from beside her.

"Hush," Lilyfrost nudged her sister sharply, her eyes locked onto Lakeshade and Brookstar trotting out of the Leaders Den, which was a hollow fallen tree at the very back of camp.

Lilyfrost watched Brookstar's black and white pelt navigate through the warriors with Lakeshade's skinny frame beside her.

Brookstar stopped in front of the visitors, obviously trying to stay calm. Lilyfrost remembered the battle EmberClan and LightningClan had when Brookstar became leader. They had disagreed over Brookstar's leadership, claiming she was far too young and didn't have an apprentice. Brookstar was convinced that StarClan punished her for the longest time, due to her brother Quailfoot dying in battle.

"Falconstar," Brookstar meowed simply, standing in front of a huge, broad-shouldered, russet tom. Beside him stood Hollowberry, which she recognized as LightningClan's medicine cat and Breezewing, one of the senior warriors.

"Brookstar," Falconstar replied. Lilyfrost jumped a bit, forgetting how loud and deep the green-eyed leader's voice was.

"Why do you come to EmberClan's camp?" Brookstar asked, her yellow eyes narrowing in suspicion. "I hope you understand I'm EmberClan's official leader. The battle was moons ago, it would be foolish to continue fighting over it."

Falconstar's tail tip twitched in irritation. He looked back at Brookstar and sniffed. "I respect your leadership, Brookstar. We haven't come here to talk about that matter."

"Why have you come then?" Brookstar questioned, her head cocking to her left slightly.

Falconstar didn't reply for a few heartbeats, glancing at his grey-and-white medicine cat, who just nodded in response.

The LightningClan leader looked back at Brookstar. He cleared his throat before meowing, "we were meant to save this information for the next gathering, but the problem has progressively gotten worse." Falconstar looked over at Breezewing. "Can you explain what you've found?"

Lilyfrost watched the blue-grey warrior step forward. He dipped his head respectively to Brookstar before meowing, "lately LightningClan patrols have been scenting rogues on our territory and finding leftover scraps of prey by the border we share with Twolegplace. We thought the rogues were just passing through until they started leaving scents along our borders just like any ordinary clan. Slowly but surely, they are pushing their scent line deeper into our territory."

Lilyfrost's ears flicked when she heard Sootrain gasp beside her. Lilyfrost's dark amber eyes flicked around her camp to observe the other cats briefly and they all looked as surprised as Sootrain was. Those are the rogues pestering us, Lilyfrost concluded in shock, lashing her tail.

"Just last sunrise one of our patrols were sent to investigate. All of a sudden, a patrol of rogues leapt from the bushes and attacked the patrol. They were obviously waiting to ambush us. They want and feed on fear." Breezewing paused and nodded his head, "if you have any questions, Brookstar, you can ask me or any of the other cats that were on the patrol."

Lilyfrost had noticed a gash sliced down Breezewing's flank and a few chunks of fur missing from above his eyes and on his cheeks. She shivered, That must've hurt.

Brookstar was silent for a bit before mewing, "and what do you want EmberClan to do about this?"

"LightningClan needs help," Falconstar blurted out. "There are a lot of rogues, more than a single clan of cats. We assumed that EmberClan and FieldClan must be having the same issues, due to them both bordering our territory."

Brookstar sighed and flicked her tail. "We've been scenting rogues as well, however, we aren't experiencing what you are. The three of you meet me in my den. Lakeshade, Hollyfern, and Beechpool come as well."

With an uncomfortable sniff, Lilyfrost watched as all the cats followed the EmberClan leader into her den. Once they were out of sight, Lilyfrost turned to look at Sootrain with wide eyes.

"These rogues are more than we thought, aren't they?"
