(Since I had some time last night and this morning... I decided I could use the extra time to write a chapter. Enjoy!)
Purple Tourmaline awoke with a start, the sound of Peridots sniffles interrupting her slumber.
"Hey... Peridot, are you all right?"
Peridot flinched and turned away, trying to wipe away any sign of tears or sadness. She turned back to Tourmaline with a promising smile.
"Uh... Y-yeah! I'm fine! Don't worry about me!" She gave a nervous chuckle, apparently passing right over Tourmaline's head.
"Hmmm," Purple Tourmaline hummed, standing up and walking towards to window.
"It's a beautiful day outside... Maybe we could go take a walk?"
Peridot followed Tourmaline, looking out the window. She was right. The sun shined brightly on the beach, creating a warm atmosphere, and the sweet aroma of the sea filled the air. The water would slowly rise and fall, as if in there were a particular pattern. It truly was a beautiful sight. It was crazy how she never noticed how beautiful it can be.
"Whaddya say, Peri?" Purple Tourmaline interrupted Peridot's thoughts. She didn't mind. She felt relieved to stop thinking so much for once.
"Uhm..."
"Hmm?" Purple Tourmaline hummed, expecting an answer in, at least, less then two hours.
"...Ok..."
"Yes! Now let's go have fun!" Purple Tourmaline shouted in her quirky, high pitched tone.
She grabbed Peridot's detachable fingers and ran out the door.
Peridot looked down at her arm enhancements, seeing five of her fingers not in place.
"Hey! Tourmaline, I need those!" She shouted, running off after her.
*TIEM SKEEEEP*
Peridot and Purple Tourmaline walked along the boardwalk, Peridot occasionally falling every few minutes.
It seemed pretty sunny, a few rainclouds here and there, but it didn't matter to them. Peridot was enjoying it, and Purple Tourmaline was just not paying attention to anything.
They started to hear soft rumbles, and Peridot was a bit startled by this. She still didn't know much about Earth yet.
"Oh," Purple Tourmaline turned to Peridot with a smile, "Don't let that noise startle you! It's probably just, uh... A marching band...?"
"What's a 'marching band'?"
"Uh... A marching band is a-"
Another rumble, louder than before.
Peridot let a tiny, "eep!" Noise escape from her mouth.
"Hey, don't be scared. That was just thunder. It's what happens after lightning strikes. (Pretty sure that last one was a marching band, though...) It'll probably rain..."
"Rain?"
"It's something that falls down from the sky. But, don't worry, it can't hurt you. It's just water!"
Peridot flinched and her eyes went wide. "...water?"
"Yeah!" Purple Tourmaline shouted, "You and I could probably go play... In... It- OOOOH NO!"
Purple Tourmaline got why Peridot was so afraid of water. Her enhancements! The rain will get into her enhancements and shock her!
"Uh... Uh! There's no time to get your enhancements off right now! We have to get inside as quickly as possib-"
The first raindrop. Right onto Peridot's arm. Peridot was running as it fell, which made the raindrop slide faster down her arm.
It went through a space between her arm and the enhancement, which sent a sharp, painful shock up Peridot's spine. Peridot cried out, in pain.
"Oh, nononono!!! UUUH WE GOTTA GET YOU INSIDE!!"
Drop after drop, shock after shock. That was the only thing going through Peridot's mind. The patterns and the pain.
So much pain, with every raindrop.
Peridot collapsed on the boardwalk, still screaming.
She felt her consciousness slip away, and everything went black.
