Chapter 3- Starting Head Prefect Duties
Hermione's POV
"We're finally back for our last year at Hogwarts!" Ginny exclaims as she gets on to the thestral drawn carriage. "It is so good to be back!" I reply back with a smile as I look up at the castle. It seems like only yesterday was the first time I ever laid eyes on all of its glory. I look up at my friends and say with a sad smile, "Sorry, this is as far as I can join you. I have head prefect duties I have to fulfill." The all nod and I make my way through all the students towards Hagrid. "Hello 'Mione. Have a good summer?" Hagrid asks with a smile. "It was wonderful and yours?" I reply. "Better now that you know who is gone." I nod in agreement and begin herding the first years towards Hagrid and the boats. After all the first years are on the boats, I make my way back towards the carriages and make sure everyone else is well on their way. After seeing everyone else is on, I make my way to the last carriage. I look around, seeing if I can find Draco and when I don't, I take a step on to the carriage. Unfortunately, I don't see the slick water on the step until I feel myself slipping. I feel myself falling and am waiting for the impact, but it never comes. I open my eyes and look in to slightly familiar ice gray eyes. "Are you okay, Hermione?" Draco asks. I blush and nod as he helps me in to the carriage coming into it after me. "Thank you," I say quietly in the silence as we make our way up to the castle. Draco nods in return as the carriage comes to a halt outside the castle doors. We get out and make our way to the great hall where we go our separate ways. I quickly find Ginny and sit down next to her as the sorting begins.
A thousand years or more ago when I was newly sewn, there lived four wizards of renown, whose names are still well known: bold Gryffindor, from wild moor, fair Ravenclaw, from glen, sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad, shrewd Slytherin, from fen. They shared a wish, a hope, a dream, they hatched a daring plan to educate young sorcerers thus Hogwarts School began. Now each of these four founders formed their own house, for each did value different virtues in the ones they had to teach. By Gryffindor, the bravest were Prized far beyond the rest; For Ravenclaw, the cleverest would always be the best; For Hufflepuff, hard workers were Most worthy of admission; And power-hungry Slytherin loved those of great ambition. Throughout the years disagreements arouse and Hogwarts still prevailed. And now the Sorting Hat is here and you all know the score: I sort you into Houses because that is what I'm for.
Once the hat's song ended, McGonagall begins to call up the first years one by one until they are all sorted. She quickly makes the welcoming speech, knowing we were all very hungry. As soon as she finishes, the tables are filled with food and we dig in. "You and Draco came in to the hall together." Ginny states while eating, her fork pointing at me. "Yeah, we had to wait until everyone else got on to the carriages. Then we got on the last one." I say slightly shrugging my shoulders like it is no big deal. Ginny gives me a questioning look and I mouth to her, 'I'll tell her later'. She nods and goes back to a conversation with Harry. After everyone is bulging at the seams, McGonagall sends us off to our common rooms. Instead of following everyone else like normal, I go to find Draco. "You ready?" He asks the second I find him. "Yeah, let's go!" I reply as we start to make our way to Professor McGonagall's office. When we get there, we find that Professor McGonagall is not there yet. "Well, I guess we wait." Draco says. I nod and look at Professor Dumbledore's portrait. "Hello, Ms. Granger." He says. "Hello, Professor." I reply back. We wait a couple more minutes until finally Professor McGonagall walks in. "Please sit," She says as she lazily flicks her wrist towards some seats behind us. We quickly make our way over and sit down. "I'm guessing that you guys want to know where your common room will be?" We nod. "Follow me." She says as she gets up from her chair. We follow her out of her office and through the twisting and turning halls. She leads us to the left corridor of the seventh floor, right where the old room of requirement was. Now in its place is a portrait of Professor Snape. "Hello, Severus." Professor McGonagall said casually. "Minerva," Professor Snape replies. Professor Snape then looks at Draco and I with what looks to be amusement in his eyes. "Ah, the new head prefects. Ms. Granger and Mr. Malfoy. Interesting choice, Minerva." Professor Snape says without missing a beat. "Why yes, I decided to change it up for once." She replied with her eyes lighting up in the same way as Professor Snape. "Now then, Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Granger. This is the door to your common room and just like your old common rooms, you need a password to get in. Your password is Sempre and before you start asking questions Ms. Granger, Sempre means always in Italian. I thought it was fitting considering the recent events." She says with a smile. She starts to walk away and seems to remember something as she turns around to face us again. "Oh, one last thing. Once you get to your rooms, all of your clothes are already in there. Since this is your last year, I decided to give you an endless wardrobe. In this wardrobe, you can get clothes that you dont own at the flick of your wand. Also, you can change the color of anything in your room by saying, Adern. That is all, have a good night." Professor McGonagall says as she begins to again walk away. "Good night, Professor." We both reply in awe. The second she turns the corner, I quickly turn to Professor Snape and excitedly say, "Sempre". His portrait swings open to reveal a beautiful common room.

Well, I hope your enjoying the story so far! In my opinion the chapters are really short but maybe ill just write shorter chapters and a longer book? I don't know yet... oh well.
