When I was born my mother died giving birth to me. My father took me in and we were at the beach when I was around 6 years old. I was standing in the water when my dad said he was going to go to the bathroom so I said okay and I stayed there and I hear a loud *BANG*! When my dad didn't come back I thought nothing about it. I just sat down in the water waiting for what was to come next. While I was waiting this boy came up out of the water. He looked about my age.

'Who are you?' The boy asked.

'I'm (Y/N) but people call me Shy. What's your name?'

'The names Seán but Mer call me Jack.'

'Mer?'

'What my people are called.'

'Why are they called that?' Jack then showed me his lower half of his body, instead of legs he had a tail.I asked if I could touch it and he said I could. When I touched it I felt a weird feeling in me, I don't know what the feeling was so I looked up to Jack and was about to ask him if he felt that too but he asked me first. 'Yeah. I did what was it?' I ask. He said he didn't know so he said he would take me to his father.

'But you have to come here for a second.' I said okay and went up to him. He then spit on his hand and held it out and said to like it up. At first I refused,but he said if I did then I would be able to breath under water forever. So I licked up his spit and just to test it out I went over to the water and stuck my head under water and breathed in,and I didn't chock or anything it was like I was breathing air but I wasn't. I then pulled my head out of the water and asked Jack,

'Was there any other way that I could be able to breath under water instead of having to lick up your spit?' After I said that his face grew really red. After I commented on his face it grew even more red then he said, 'No. There was no other way.'\

'Are you sure?'

'Yes.'

'Okay. Then lets get going!' He just laughed at my excitement and told me get on his back so I did. He went deeper into the water, and I started to freak out.

'What wrong!?' Jack got scared of to why I was freaking out.

'I can't swim I'll drown!' Jack just laughed and went on. 

'Jack stop I'm going to drown!' He stopped once we were out to the point if I got off his back I would just float strait to the bottom.

'Shy you'll be fine you can breath under water now. Remember?'

'Oh. Right. Sorry forgot. You can continue.' And with that we went to go see his father.

*At his father's side*

'Hey dad?' Jack asked very uneasily.

'Yes?' His dad answered back.

'I found this girl, her name is (Y/N) but she likes to be called Shy.' His father looked at me then he said,

'I'm Seán's dad but you can call me King.' He put his hand out to be shook. But instead I go behind Jack and hide.

'She's shy.' Jack explains. His father nods.

'Explain why she/human is here.' His father demanded.

'Well I saw her sitting on the beach and I started to talk to her, and then I showed her my tail because she asked why we call our people Mer. Then she asked if she could touch my tail I said it was okay and then when she touched my tail we both got a weird feeling and we came here to ask what it means.' After Jack finished explaining his father just looked between me and Jack.

'Jack show me what the feeling was.' I then gave Jack a look that said 'What?' Jack then explained that he could mimic feelings that he had and show other people what he could feel. So I said okay, and he then showed his father the feeling. His father then said out of the blue.

'Jack, Shy has to stay here forever.' 

'Why?' Jack and I both asked at the same time.

'Because (Y/N) is your soulmate.' And with that my new life began.
