12 :: Corvette
WHEN Beomgyu spotted the sign of the harbour, he felt as if the heavens were favouring him for the first time. Byeol's face looked no better than a blobfish. She seemed to have turned ten years older within a few hours. Her pale face was like the white satin sheets of his bed back in 2020. He knew it better than everyone else that all these sudden things were enervating her.
"Let's slow down. We are already here and no one's following us for now." said Beomgyu trying his best to not tire her more. He would be in real mess if she knocked out at the wrong time. Byeol nodded weakly as she loosened her grip around Beomgyu's wrist a little.
A corvette was the closest vessel they could spot.
"Gyu... I feel really..." mumbled Byeol as her drooping eyes met the anxious pair of Beomgyu's.
"Oh my god... Byeol!" gasped the boy as he caught his partner in his arms who lost her balance after barely two seconds.
Sighing at how things were turning out, he had no choice but to pick the passed out body of the frail , malnourished girl in bridal style. He winced in pain as he felt her weight. He was no better than her. He probably was underweight. He carefully got up into the corvette and placed Byeol on the wooden floor.
He picked up a rusty mug which was lying near to them and got down again to bring some water. The real issue now was how to get some food and water. There were several corvettes lined up. They were staying in the nearest.
He scurried towards his friend's direction as soon as he managed to clean the mug and fill it upto its brim. He hoped that Byeol would be alright again.
When the cold saline water touched the face of the girl , she stayed motionless. Beomgyu felt his hands and feet go numb as his mind was flogged with different thoughts about the situation that were quite negative. He kept patting her cheeks and begged her to get up.
After a few minutes of desperate tries he gave up. He placed a hand under her nostrils to check. His palm was greeted by warm exhalations.
"Hey! You... You are not dead! Get up now!" he begged at the thought of being left alone. Surprisingly, he didn't want to part with his annoying acquaintance.
Byeol opened her eyes slowly as she let out a little chuckle.
"You got scared. Didn't you?"
"Do you think this shit is funny? How could I not get freaked out if you pass out like that and not respond anymore?"
"Umm...Sorry... I just didn't want to get up for some reason. It's so tiring for me to stay awake. I haven't slept well for days."
Beomgyu let out another sigh and looked away. He covered his face with his palms and lied down on the floor beside Byeol. He was pissed off about how he got tricked into believing she was on the verge of death. He hated pranks like this.
"Are you angry?"
"Do I seem like I am enjoying your show?" fumed Beomgyu as he got up and looked straight into her orbs.
"Damn boy... Calm down. I didn't mean to scare you like that. I just didn't want to get up. I lost my thinking powers for a while. I should have informed you that I was awake within a few minutes."
"Just... Don't do that again."whisper yelled a vexed Beomgyu.
"I am sorry..."apologised Byeol as she patted his head gathering up her hidden affection for the later.
"Do you want some water?"
"Do we have any?"
"Saline water of the ocean."
"That's practically not consumable."
"Yeah."
"Let's drink that. We don't have no choice anyway. We might end up vomiting later but to survive we have to drink it."
Beomgyu held her hand and walked towards the ocean. They tried to take considerable amounts of water in handfuls and drink it. The salty water completely ruined their taste. But thirst and hunger is something which can make you stomach anything in cases of emergencies.
"We should check out what's inside this vessel. There might be something which would come handy later."
"It's abandoned. How would it have something?"
"There's no harm in exploring. We need to live on. Let's not be negative and disheartened."
The doors of the corvette were not locked to their delight. The vessel was still in a good condition if not the very best. The lights were working to their delight. Byeol was right. There was nothing that could be beneficial to them. It was empty. The only thing that they noticed were the sleeping compartments which were fully furnished. Both of them collapsed onto one of the bed.
"I feel sleepy and not sleepy at the same time."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I have been going on without practically no sleep for a few weeks. I want to sleep. My body feels tired but I don't get it."
"Do you know what's the natural remedy to this? Let me sing you to sleep."
"Huh?"
Beomgyu pulled her into his embrace and stroked her hair as his harmonious voice filled the dimly lit room.
a/n : I lost so many readers... Damn... I can't believe it! To the existing ones, do vote and comment. The number of readers affects a writer in a serious way. Like when you don't have people to read the shit you write , you lose the inspiration and confidence slowly. Still this book managed to cross 800 reads. Thank you! Since it's not a BTS Fanfiction, it's hard to enroll this into award shows and review shops.
