♡road to debut♡

for some of the girls, the company they're in right now wasn't their first choice, hell, for some of them, it wasn't even the first they had gotten into.

for hyun mi, jyp was a game of fairness. sm had reached out to her and offered for her to train in their company about a couple of months after jyp had already accepted her, and five days before she had to fly to korea. the philippines is known for singing, children practically grew up with microphones in their hands, and hyun mi was no exception, so sm would seem like the perfect choice, seeing as it's known for focusing more on vocals than rap. but even with this in mind, jyp had accepted her first, and hyun mi believed in the saying 'first come, first served'.

for jae hwa, jyp was a last resort. though her step-father landed himself in jail with a life sentence, pretty much guaranteeing jae hwa complete freedom from him, she couldn't shake off the constant tension in her house, it was as if he had left a cursed object in their walls or under the floorboards to always remind them of his presence. desperate to finally get away, jae hwa sent an audition video of her dancing to five different companies, and all of them rejected her except, as you can tell, jyp.

for yeon-seok, jyp was a risk. a huge risk, as a matter of fact. she had broken her ankle about two weeks before she and her hip hop group in japan were to make their debut. thinking she wouldn't be able to heal by then, she sent a video audition of her singing to jyp. two weeks go by, and her doctor said her ankle is in a good enough condition for her to dance again, and it just so happens that jyp's acceptance email was delievered to her on the same day, about a day before her group debuts. after consulting with, what could've been, her members, who said they would support her decision. no matter what, she decided to bite the bullet and fly to korea.

for eun-kyung, woollim was a matter of what would benefit her the most. as a past child trainee of yg, she had grown up with 2nd gen groups practically being her second parents. but as she grew older, she noticed the little changes in yg as it became bigger and bigger, from gd's drug scandal to the park bom scandal, she's seen it all. of course, she powered through, cuse she wanted to stay loyal with yg, but after seeing how it began treating 2ne1 in 2014, she decided that she did not want to be a future victim and left the company, immediately going to a lesser-known one, woollim.

for ha-eun, cre.ker was a coping mechanism. she never really thought about becoming an idol before, the thought just never slipped her mind. hell, she actually wanted to become a psychiatrist when she was very young. but after finding out about her mother's miscarriage about six months after it happened, she turned to singing as a coping mechanism, and it turned into a bit of a habit, with her singing almost all the time to let out her stress and relax even just a little. when she heard about having an idol career, she jumped at the opportunity to be able to use her coping mechanism as a way to make an income, and so people don't shush her in public.

for chunhua, sm was a dream come true. ever since she was young, she's had a huge love for performing on stages. singing, dancing, acting, playing, she grew up on a stage, and she never wants to leave the stage. so when she found out that there was a job that required for you to be on a stage almost every other day or week, she was all for it. this girl, even at 23 years old, was so full of energy during her sm audition that went perfectly with the bubbly and bright song she chose to audition with. naturally, having been a performer since she learned how to walk, she had impressively stable vocals for a rookie, and was accepted into sm unsurprisingly.

becoming an idol is hard enough as it is, but these girls each have a different reason on why they kept pushing through until it paid off in the end.
