a/n: Em... Hello there! Its me, your favorite absentee writer. Lets just get right into this.
Third person POV
"Do you have to go." The small girl asks her best friend.
"Jack, you know I do." He says softly, giving her a tight hug. "I'm sorry, but we will see each other again. I promise."
"You can't promise that, Alexander." The smaller of the two says, looking down at her feet.
"But I can and will." Alex states. "Here." Alex pulls a small silver necklace out of his pocket and gives it to Jack. "So that you'll always remember me."
Jacquelyn manages a small smile as Alexander turns and gets in the car with his mother. On thing ways heavily on her mind as she watched the car drive away.
I never got the chance to tell you who I really am...

John's POV
I walk down the halls of the large high school. I am so completely lost. It's my firsts day and I have no idea where I am going. I look at the room numbers as I pass them, trying to find the correct room. I fiddle with my necklace as I walk down the hall, not paying attention at all.
I suddenly smack right into another person, causing us both to drop our books and stumble back.
"Oh god, I am so sorry!" The taller male says as he crouches down to pick up the items on the floor. "I was trying to find my class but this place is a fucking maze."
I crouch down as well to help, looking up at him. Dark brown eyes meet my hazel ones. "It's alright, I wasn't paying very good attention either, so..." I say softly, giving a kind smile. I pick up one of his note books and notice his name on the front cover. "A. Hamilton...?" I whisper and look at his face again.
"Oh, Alexander. Or just Alex is fine." He says, smiling at me.
I stare at him for a minute. The eyes, his smile, its all the same. "Alexander..." I say softly.
"Yes?" He tilts his head. "That is my name."
Does he really not recognize me? I don't feel like I've changed that much, even after starting the hormone therapy.
"What's your name?" He asks, helping me up to my feet.
I clear my throat and pull at my sleeves. "J-John Laurens. John." I say softly, the name coming out easily, unlike how my dead name used to. how I used to have to force myself to say the feminine name.
"I knew someone with that last name." Alex suddenly says, pulling me from my thoughts. "My best friend. I haven't seen her in years though."
I wince slightly at the her. He really doesn't recognize me. I can't decide if I should be upset by that or not...
"I actually promised I see her again." He says softly and frowns. "I don't know if I can keep that promise."
But I'm right here...
Ok, it's definitely upsetting. I should just tell him.
"Alex I-" The bell suddenly rings, cutting me off.
Alex looks up and gasps. "Crap! I'm late!" He says, slinging his bag over his shoulder. "Oh, I-I hope to see you around, John!" He rushes past me down the hall.
I turn and watch him walk away, an image of him and his mom driving away runs through my mind. I sigh heavily.
I am your old friend...
