4 months later, WWE were preparing the road to Summerslam, and for Josh and Cassie, things could not have been better for them. After dealing with Cathy in the only way they knew how by reporting her to Triple H, on the week of the Superstar Shake Up, Cassie managed to successfully defend her title against Jessica on Smackdown Live, before retaining again against Charlotte at Money In The Bank, but she would have to keep an eye out for Ember Moon, who won the Women's MITB briefcase. Following on from that, she then defended in a triple threat against Bayley and Mandy Rose at Payback, coming out on top, and then Sonya Deville at Extreme Rules.

As for Josh, both he and Jeff were also tearing it up as the tag team champions. After a controversial ending at Money In The Bank where Rusev's leg was on the ropes while Jeff pinned him, they would then have a Falls Count Anywhere match at Payback to settle things, and settle them they did, with Josh hitting Creation Of Energy from the stage on Nakamura, sending them both through a table, which ended the match. They then successfully defended against Bryan and Rowan at Extreme Rules, awaiting their next challengers.

It was now the night after Extreme Rules, and Josh, with Cassie on the apron and Jeff encouraging them on the outside, were in a match against Andrade and Zelina, who'd been poking fun at Josh and Cassie's relationship while the champions were celebrating their wins from last night. After hitting the double knees on Josh, Andrade went for the pin.

Ref: 1... 2...

Josh just kicked out and reached out to make the tag to Cassie.

Cassie: Come on, babe! Tag me!

Despite Andrade trying to stop him, Cassie made the tag, and immediately floored Zelina, hitting her with lefts and rights, before she delivered a knee with some force behind it.

Ref: 1... 2... thr-

Zelina just got a shoulder up, and Cassie continued to wear her down, hitting her signature fisherman's suplex, before covering her again.

Ref: 1... 2...

This time, Andrade pulled her off of Zelina, and Cassie got right in his face. But before Cassie could hit him, Zelina tried a roll up on her with the tights hooked.

Ref: 1... 2...

Cassie had no problem kicking out with authority, with the force sending Zelina out of the ring before she tagged Josh back in, and he then hit an oblivious Andrade with a quick First Spark before pinning him.

Ref: 1... 2... 3!

Greg: Here are your winners, the team of Josh Stevens and the Smackdown Women's Champion, Peyton Royce!

Just as Jeff joined in the celebrations, the arena blacked out, and there was then a loud pop as No-one Will Survive played. Tommaso Ciampa had returned, fresh from the neck injury he sustained which forced him to relinquish the NXT Championship. But then there was an even louder pop, as Rebel Heart then hit, and out came Johnny Gargano, along with his wife, Candice LeRae. All three had mics in their hands, while Cassie, Josh and Jeff looked shocked and a little confused.

Tommaso: Well, Johnny boy, Candice... what do we have here?

Johnny: Looks like 3 people who need a real challenge.

Candice: You see, after you three RUINED Smackdown by winning those titles, us three got together and came up with a plan to stop you.

Tommaso: You see, you three are a disgrace to those belts you carry. And while me and Johnny have had our differences over the past few years, one thing is not changed.

Johnny: Our ability to work as a team when we need to, so we just came here to put you guys on notice. #DIY is back... Because nobody else will do it for you!

Candice: And Peyton, while you pride yourself on defending your own title and 'exceeding your expectations', how's about you put your money where your mouth is and put that belt on the line... Against me?!

Josh was furious and got a mic for him, Jeff and Cassie.

Josh: Well, well, well. Look what the stray cat dragged in. 3 people who had to take the low road to get what they wanted in NXT. Hey, Tommaso... How's the neck? Huh?

Cassie: Candice... What's happened to you? This isn't the same Candice LeRae I was friends with back in NXT. This isn't the Candice LeRae I had some of my best matches against in the indies. This is a low life, horrible person who stabbed Dakota and Tegan in the back on her last night in NXT. But now, times have changed... since I have this.

She raised her title belt up high, to a roaring reception from the fans, while Candice just yawned a little, getting a booing reaction.

Jeff: And as for you, Johnny, what the hell? I always had a lot of respect for the old Johnny Gargano... I'm talking about JOHNNY FREAKIN' WRESTLING! But as I look at you, I do see a hint of success in you. I'm talking about the success... to fail.

Josh: So how about this? Tommaso, Johnny, next week, you face a team of our choice, and if you beat them, then we'll give you a tag title match at Summerslam.

Cassie: Same goes for you too, Candice. Beat an opponent of my choosing, and you get me at the biggest party of the summer!

The three on the ramp all exchanged glances at one another before coming to their decision.

Tomasso: You're on. We'll see you next week.

All three on the ramp then dropped their mics and headed to the back, and after a minute or two, the champions followed them, and when the 6 of them met up backstage, they extended the hand of friendship to them.

Jeff: Glad to see you guys are finally on the main roster. Loved your match against Matt Riddle recently, Johnny!

Johnny: Yeah, it was pretty epic, but now here we are on the main roster, and since me and Tommaso here haven't teamed good and proper for a good few years, we thought it was time to bring #DIY back...

Tommaso: ... Since nobody will do it for us!

The 4 of them laughed as they exchanged a joke and talked about the plan for the tag title match at Summerslam, while Cassie and Candice looked on.

Cassie: Glad to see you finally made it here, girl! We are gonna tear it down at Summerslam! I just have one little request to ask of you though.

Candice: I'm listening...

Cassie: I want to drop the title at Summerslam.

Candice: Whoa, really? Cos I don't think it'd be good for me winning my first title at my first big PPV.

Cassie: Hmm... then what can we do to make it happen?

Just as they were thinking, someone who was accidentally eavesdropping cleared their throat and made their presence known.

Ember: I think I may have a solution to that...

She holds up the Money In The Bank briefcase she won, and made her proposal to them.

Ember: So long story short, Cassie, you beat Candice in your match, then I'll cash in my title shot on the Smackdown after Summerslam! How's that sound?

Cassie: Sounds awesome to me!

The girls then looked at the gents, who were talking about the outcome for their match.

Johnny: Whoa... You really want us to win and beat you for the belts?

Tommaso: Yeah, sounds like a little too soon.

Josh then gave them an explanation.

Josh: Well you see, the thing is, you two were actually the guys we had in mind to drop the titles to. Mainly cos Jeff is carrying a slight knock to his knee, and it reoccurred tonight...

Jeff: Hence the reason why I didn't wrestle tonight!

Josh: But also because... I feel like the time is right for me and Cassie to take some time off and maybe even start our own family.

Johnny: You sure that's what you want?

Jeff: Well, that's real admirable of you, bud, I wish you and her good luck.

Josh: Thanks, bro, you've been a real blessing for my career. Hopefully in the future we can become tag champions again.

Jeff: I'd love that!

Johnny: Well, considering you've made your intentions clear, I think there's not much else to say other than the fact that we would be honoured to win the tag titles from you. Let's tear it down at Summerslam!

The 4 then went their separate ways, with Josh and Cassie heading back to their locker room for a shower, before seeing someone they had luckily avoided for a while.

Cassie: Cathy...

Cathy: Hey guys, can we talk?

Josh: Depends, are you gonna try and snog my face off again?

Cathy: Relax, I'm not gonna try anything. I just wanted to apologise to you both properly. I know it was a mistake, and I should never have messed with your relationship.

Cassie: Damn right you shouldn't. The only reason you're not on the floor from a slap right now is cos MY boyfriend is here.

Josh gently pulled Cassie away, and confronted Cathy himself.

Josh: Just be aware... Try it again, and you'll be sorry.

He and Cassie then headed off, and Cathy looked a little shocked at them before going off to do some interviews with Tommaso, Johnny and Candice.

One week later...

Josh and Jeff were on the ramp, with Tommaso and Johnny in the ring, awaiting their surprise opponents.

Josh: Okay then you two, if you want a shot at us, you're gonna have to beat these guys...

Reluctantly, The Bar made their entrance, not bothering to acknowledge Josh and Jeff, who made their way to the back and watched the match, which was quite entertaining. After a failed double team White Noise where Tommaso pushed Cesaro off the top rope, Sheamus missed a Brogue Kick before Johnny then hit his slingshot DDT, then both he and Tommaso hit Meeting In The Middle, getting the win.

Greg: Here are your winners, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, DIY!

Then Candice made her way out to celebrate the win with her husband. But before the two kissed in the ring, Cassie made her entrance along with Josh and Jeff, who were sarcastically applauding them.

Cassie: Nice job, boys... But Candice, the real challenge is yet to come. Since you're already out here in your wrestling gear, how about you have your match right now...

Candice: Bring it, Peyton! I'll fight anyone to get a shot at you!

Cassie: Anyone? Hmm, I'm glad you said that.. Cos here she is...

Leah then came out, and did her moonwalk for her entrance before showing respect to Cassie. The match itself went well, with both Leah and Candice pulling off a classic for women's wrestling. Candice then showed her true potential as a heel as she got the win with a roll up on Leah, feet on the ropes and all, without the ref noticing.

Greg: Here is your winner, Candice LeRae!

She then did the title belt motion as she looked into the camera, sending a message to the champion.

Candice: Peyton, I'm coming for you, and I'm coming for that title, whatever it takes!

As Cassie, Josh and Jeff watched from backstage, they all seemed content with how the night went. While Cassie went for a quick shower, Josh and Jeff had a bit of time to talk.

Jeff: So dude, you sure you wanna start a family with Cassie? It's a big step in your life and hers...

Josh: Jeff, my man, I've never been more sure of anything in my life. She's the one for me, no doubt. I want her to be the mother of my kids.

Jeff gave Josh a pat on the back before Cassie then re-emerged, not leaving much to the imagination as she was only wearing a towel.

Cassie: What are you boys talking about then?

Jeff: Just guy stuff, nothing important.

Josh: Yep, just guy stuff.

Jeff: Anyway, I'm gonna go, got some stuff to sort out with Matt.

Josh: No worries, man. Tell him I said hi!

Cassie: Yeah, me too!

Jeff: I'll pass it on. See ya later, guys!

As Jeff left, Cassie and Josh then got ready to head back, and during the car ride, they both felt the time was right to tell them their plans for Summerslam.

Josh: So babe, there's something on my mind...

Cassie: Funny you should say that Joshy, cos I do too.

Josh: Okay... You tell me yours first then...

Cassie then took a deep breath and came out with it.

Cassie: I've asked to drop the title after Summerslam.

Josh went wide eyed and looked at Cassie, who had a look of nervousness on her face. It then turned into a look of confusion once she saw Josh smiling a little.

Cassie: You... you're not upset?

Josh: Why would I be? Why would I be upset when I'm doing the exact same thing with Jeff?!

Cassie: Wait, you mean...

Josh: Yeah, me and him have agreed to drop the tag titles at Summerslam. He's picked up a nasty niggle on his knee, while I... I think it's time.

Cassie: Time for what?

Josh grabbed her hand.

Josh: Time... for us to be parents. I want to have a baby with the perfect woman. The woman I love - and that's you.

Cassie was almost in tears at what Josh said and couldn't stop thinking about it until they arrived back at Josh's apartment.

Josh: Babe, you okay?

Cassie just kissed him for all she was worth in reply, to the shock of Josh.

Cassie: You have no idea how happy I am. This means that we can start the next stage of our relationship... Parenthood.

Josh: I wouldn't have had it any other way or with any other woman. So, if you're not dropping the title AT Summerslam, then when?

Cassie: Smackdown after Summerslam. Ember said she'll cash in the contract she won.

Josh: Nice. Certainly beats Charlotte getting her greedy mitts on it. Now, since we have the rest of the week off, we need some rest.

Cassie: I agree...

They both got dressed into their nightwear, but Cassie decided to go the extra mile, and not wear anything except some very skimpy undies. When Josh saw her getting into bed, he immediately wrapped his arms around her and rested his hands on her boobs, and they both relaxed immediately. While Josh drifted off to sleep, Cassie whispered to herself.

Cassie: Soon, baby. Soon we can have the life we've always dreamed of.
